27 General Practices and Interpretations All Products Built to meet ASME B31.1/B31.3 manufacturing codes B31.1: Power Piping (Typically Power Applications) B31.3: Process Piping (Typically Refinery Applications) Section 1 Boiler Codes for MLI s PG-60: Design and Application Requirements for Miscellaneous Pipe, Valves and Fittings. PG Independent remote level indicators that contain sensing devices that include a magnetically coupled float inside a nonmagnetic cylindrical pressure chamber to utilize through-the-wall sensing of the float position. (Restricted by PG 12.2)

28 General Practices and Interpretations Per ASME Section 1, PG-12 and PG-60: Water Level Indicators, Connector Material and Requirements (interpretation). Boilers exceeding 900 psi MLI Gauges (indirect measuring Devices) are not permitted as acceptable measuring devices. Boilers exceeding 400 psi Must have 2 Direct Gauges (i.e. Site Glasses) and MLI Gauges (Indirect measuring Devices) are permitted. Alternatively, Boilers exceeding 400 psi may have 1 Direct Gauge (i.e. Site Glass) and 2 Indirect (independent) Measuring Devices (A system that continually measures, transmits or displays water levels i.e. MLI Gauges) installed. Boilers above 100 psi to have at least 1 Direct (i.e. Site Glass) installed with a connection to install a valved drain to ensure a safe point of discharge. MLI's allowed as an independent measuring devices.
