1 POST TITLE: POST NUMBER: GRADE: HEAD OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SPINE MS PRP JOB PURPOSE The person appointed will be responsible for the leadership and management of quality across all Further Education provision within the College including apprenticeships and learning programmes delivered by sub-contractors. The post-holder will be responsible for the following key areas: Quality assurance mechanisms, processes and interventions Quality improvement including the self-assessment process Development of teaching, learning and assessment (to include CPD and teacher training) Tutorial, target setting and student progress Planning and preparation for all external quality visits and reviews (to include oversight of EV visits, Awarding Body Centre visits and Ofsted) Leadership and management of our designation as a Teaching School. The role will require the close scrutiny of student performance and data along with the management of intervention that ensure gaps in achievement are reduced and student experience and progression is maximised across the College. KEY DUTIES Provide strategic oversight for quality across the College ensuring that an outstanding quality profile can be realised. To have overall responsibility for the management and development of exemplar QA Frameworks for all aspects of College provision ensuring full compliance. Oversee and manage the self-assessment process and quality improvement mechanisms for the College. To have responsibility for the development and implementation of key strategies pertaining to quality including the Student Progress Strategy.

2 Lead teams undertaking QA activities, internal quality audits and reviews of teaching, learning and assessment. Lead, manage and supervise key personnel responsible for Quality reporting, Quality assurance and the development of teaching, learning and assessment practice. Ensure the College is effectively prepared for external scrutiny by Ofsted, awarding bodies and other regulatory bodies. Ensure the College meets and exceeds the standards expected by awarding bodies, partners and regulatory bodies. Ensure that student and curriculum performance is accurate, accessible and closely monitored. Oversee the reporting to SMT, CMT and governors. Oversee and ensure that feedback from parents, learners and employers is effectively gathered and used to inform quality improvement. Oversee and ensure that the academic staff development strategy is effective and leads to an improvement in standards across all aspects of provision. Oversee and ensure that new teachers to the organisation are effectively inducted, mentored and developed. Oversee and assure that effective mechanisms are in place to share and disseminate best practice in teaching, learning and assessment across the College To have overall responsibility for the quality and development of tutorial and target setting practice in the College. Oversee and ensure that teacher training provision at the College is effectively developed, delivered and supports new teachers working at the College or entering the teaching profession. To be able to act as the College Nominee or support the College Nominee as their deputy for all College inspections. Establish and oversee all peer review activity and the periodic review by external groups of College provision to include mock inspection activity.

3 Act as the key quality representative on internal and external groups. Lead and manage all activity related to our status as a Teaching School. Ensure that any action planning and success criteria are achieved. Oversee the co-ordination and delivery of training that enable managers at all levels to deliver good or outstanding provision. GENERIC DUTIES To lead the selection process and actively participate in the recruitment and appointment of staff To ensure effective measures and systems are in place to cover staff absence and minimise the impact on the learning experience for students To ensure department procedures and controls for delegating budgets for materials and equipment are effective and closely monitored. To monitor all expenditures and ensure that spending is kept within the budget allocation. As a budget holder to comply with the colleges financial regulations and procedures To manage effectively and efficiently all the department resources including space, materials and staffing To ensure specified college procedures and policies are followed by all employees assigned to the department To be responsible for the performance management of department staff to include the effective implementation of the College s staff appraisal system To undertake responsibility for the Health and Safety of all the department activities as detailed in the College Health and Safety Policy Statement and Operating manual To be a member of the College Senior Management Team and represent the department and the College on internal and external committees as required To actively undertake and lead key quality activities to include lesson observations and quality reviews

4 To support other areas of the group in areas related to the directorate as requested or instructed by the Principal or line manager. To comply with all college policies and procedures To carry out such other duties as may be required by the Principal commensurate with the grade of post. KEY TARGETS This post has key targets that are required for the success of this post. These targets will be set and agreed annually, normally prior to the start of the academic year. Targets will be process monitored and updated on a termly basis. The following is a list of areas for which targets will be set. 5 SALARY Management Spine 12 17: 47,333 to 53,836 per annum CONDITIONS OF SERVICE The College standard Contract of Service apply. Hours of attendance: Teaching contact hours: Annual Leave: Full Time - 37 hours To be confirmed 35 days per annum plus statutory holidays The College reserves the right to direct up to 10 days of your annual year entitlement for efficiency purposes.
