It is located 1 km from Machakos Town along the main Machakos Wote road. MU/AC/16/001 (a) A Bachelor s degree and a Master s degree qualification form a recognized/accredited university in the relevant field with at least three years post qualification work experience; and (b) Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualifications. 1

2 NB: Those who are currently serving as Assistant Lecturer on permanent and pensionable terms in other universities and are willing to transfer at the same grade will be considered for this position. Evidence for registration for Ph.D. and advancement towards acquiring it is required. Those with teaching/research experience at university/research institute level and have completed Ph.D. research work or are writing Ph.D. thesis will have an added advantage. LECTURER REF. MU/AC/16/004 Must have cases) in the relevant area from recognized/accredited university. (b) At least three(3) years teaching/research experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer (c) Accumulated at least eight equivalent publication points as a Senior Lecturer (d) Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students and attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer NB: (a) One university level scholarly book = 4 equivalent publication points; (b) One tertiary level scholarly book = 2 equivalent publication points; (c) One secondary level text book = 1 equivalent publication point; (d) One primary level book = 0.5 equivalent publication point; (e) One article in a refereed journal = 2 equivalent publication points; (f) One article in non refereed journal = 1 equivalent publication point; (g) One reviewed conference paper = 1 equivalent publication point. (h) Two (2) years of research equate to one (1) year of University Level teaching experience. This is, however, applicable up to the position of Senior Lecturer. 2

3 NON-TEACHING POSITIONS DEPUTY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN - GRADE 14 REF. MU/AD/16/001 - (1 POST) An earned Ph.D. degree in Library/Information Science or related fields with 3 years experience as Senior Librarian. Two (2) articles in peer reviewed journals. CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER - GRADE 14 - REF. MU/AD/16/002 - (1 POST) Masters degree in Supplies/Procurement/Business Administration or equivalent qualification, plus full professional qualification in Procurement and Supplies.Must be a full member of the Kenya Institute of Supply Management of good standing. Twelve (12) years experience, three ( 3) years of which should have been at the level of Assistant Senior Supplies/Procurement Officer Grade 13 Membership to a professional body. SENI LIBRARIAN - GRADE 13 - REF. MU/AD/16/003 - (1 POST) Masters degree in Library/Information Science or related field. Must have five (5) years experience as a Librarian. Minimum of one (1) article in peer reviewed journal. SENI ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (ADMISSIONS) - GRADE 13 - REF. MU/AD/16/004 - (1 POST) Masters Degree in a relevant field plus three (3) years administrative experience. Member of a recognized professional administration or management body Must have served satisfactorily for three (3) years as an Assistant Registrar or equivalent. SENI ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (EXAMINATIONS) - GRADE 13 -REF.MU/AD/16/005 - (1 POST) Masters Degree in a relevant field plus three (3) years administrative experience. Member of a recognized professional administration or management body Must have served satisfactorily for three (3) years as an Assistant Registrar or equivalent.. SENI ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (HUMAN RESOURCE) GRADE 13- REF.MU/AD/16/006 Master degree in a relevant field and must have served as a Senior Administrative Assistant I or equivalent for at least three (3) years. A Bachelor degree with twelve (12) years experience three (3) of which must be at the level ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (OFFICE OF THE VICE-CHANCELL) GRADE-12- MU/AD/16/007- (1 POST) 3

4 A Bachelors degree with twelve (12) years experience three (3) of which must be at the level ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (PLANNING)-GRADE 12- MU/AD/16/008- (1 POST) A Bachelors degree with twelve (12) years experience three (3) of which must be at the level SENI SECURITY OFFICER 1 - GRADE 12 REF. MU/AD/16/009 - (1 POST) Bachelor s degree in a relevant area with five (5) years experience in the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police/Major/Principal Intelligence Officer and at least three (3) years working experience in a university setting. Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Should have a good certificate of discharge from the previous employer. At least forty (40) years of age. Should be a member of a professional body e.g. Security Institute (UK). Should have served for three (3) years as a Senior Security officer Grade 11. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC) GRADE -12 REF. MU/AD/16/010 A Bachelors degree with twelve (12) years experience three (3) of which must be at the level SECRETARY GRADE 7/8 REF. MU/AD/16/011 At least KCSE C- (Minus) and above or KCE Div. III or an equivalent qualification. Diploma in Secretarial Studies Business English III, Commerce II, Secretarial Duties II, Office Management III, Shorthand III (100 wpm) or Audio-Typewriting III and Typewriting 50 wpm Must be computer literate with a certificate in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Data Base Management packages. Six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which must have been at Grade 5/6. NB: Without these qualifications one should have served for three years in Grade 5/6 and attained typing speed of 50 words per minute. ASSISTANT SECRETARY- GRADE 5/6 REF. MU/AD/16/012 At least KCSE C (minus) or KCE Div. III or an equivalent qualification. Diploma in Secretarial Studies Business English III, Commerce II, Secretarial Duties II, Office Management III, Shorthand III (100 wpm) or Audio-Typewriting III and Typewriting 50 wpm Must be computer literate with a certificate in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Data Base Management packages. Thee (3) years relevant working experience. NB: Without these qualifications one should have served for ten years in Grade 3/4 and 4

5 attained typing speed of 50 words per minute DRIVER - GRADE ¾ REF. MU/AD/16/013 At least KCSE level (D+) of Education or equivalent Have a clean valid driving license classes BCE and PSV Passed in occupation Test Grade III Certificate in first Aid is an added advantage Certificate of good conduct Must be at least 21 years old. Must have five (5) years experience and in particular experience in driving a 67 seater bus or bigger. TERMS OF SERVICE The terms of service include basic salary, a generous medical health insurance scheme, house allowance and commuter allowance among others. Except for the Tutorial Fellows which is a training position and who will be appointed on a one (1) renewable contracts, successful candidates will be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms subject to a satisfactory probation period.
