1 1 Htspt Setup Guide Sinca HtSpt is Windws PC gateway sftware which helps yu in cntrlling and billing yur custmers fr the Internet usage. Sinca HtSpt des nt require any Client sftware installatins. It uses captive prtal technlgy t shw lgin page in custmer brwser. Upn cnnecting t yur netwrk (using wireless cards r UTP cable), custmer will be prmpted t enter valid username and passwrd t get Internet access. After successful lgin, yur custmer will see the remaining time and bandwidth quta, expiratin date and ther relevant inf. HtSpt keeps track f custmer accunt and shws warning message when the accunt is due t expire, helping a custmer t refill the accunt and cntinue using yur service withut interruptin. Sftware includes billing, statistics and reprting with many useful features. It is hardware independent and yu can use any type f access pints, ruters, switches and ther equipment t cntrl yur WiFi, WiMax, LAN, Cable, DSL, Satellite and ther type f netwrk cnnectins. 1.1 Requirements In rder t cntrl wireless users, Htspt sftware has t be set up n a gateway cmputer in yur netwrk. Fr minimal Htspt cnfiguratin yu need at least 3 devices: - Htspt gateway PC - Internet mdem/ruter - Wi-Fi device fr prviding access t users (Wi-Fi ruter r Access Pint) System requirements fr Htspt gateway PC: CPU: 2 gigahertz (GHz) r faster 32-bit (x86) r 64-bit (x64) prcessr RA M: 1 GB fr Windws XP, Windws Server GB fr Windws 7, Vista, Windws Server 2008 NIC: OS: 2 netwrk interface cards, fr maximum perfrmance we recmmend using Intel PRO/1000 (EXPI9400PT BLK) netwrk adapters Windws XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003, Server 2008 Mst mdern cmputers have ne netwrk card built in, the ther ne yu will need t purchase and install t cmputer's PCI slt Sinca 1

2 Please cnnect ne netwrk card t the Internet ruter and ther ne t wi-fi device that yur custmers will use t access Htspt. If yu plan t use a Wi-Fi ruter t prvide access fr custmers, please cnnect it t Htspt server pc using LAN (nt WAN) prt. Nte that 2 netwrk cards n the Htspt server cannt be bridged, the Htspt (Internal) netwrk has t perate in different IP range than External netwrk. 4 1.2 Pre-installatin steps Befre installing Htspt please ensure that fllwing cnditins are met: 1. Windws accunt n which Htspt will be installed has administrative privileges 2. Windws User A ccunt Cntrl is set t Never Ntify level (Windws Vista, 7) G t Windws Cntrl Panel User Accunts screen Click n Change User Accunt Cntrl settings link Mve the slider t Never Ntify level and click Ok Restart cmputer t apply changes 3. Static IP address is cnfigured n NIC1, the netwrk card cnnected t the Internet ruter/ mdem. It is recmmended t set same IP address that is already assigned dynamically by ruter. T see which IP NIC1 has currently assigned, g t Windws Start buttn Run(Search) field, type 'cmd' and press Enter. In newly pened windw type 'ipcnfig' and press Enter. Windws 7, (Windws XP): G t Windws Cntrl Panel Netwrk and Sharing Center (Netwrk Cnnectins n XP) screen Click n Change adapter settings link (Skip this step n XP) Right-click n NIC1 and select Prperties frm menu Select Internet Prtcl Versin 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Prperties buttn 2012 Sinca 4

6 Enter IP address (e.g ) Click in Subnet Mask field, value will be set autmatically based n IP address Enter IP address f the default gateway (IP f the Internet ruter) Enter DNS addresses, it is recmmended t use DNS addresses f yur ISP r public DNS service such as Ggle ( , ) Click OK and clse all dialg windws 4. Static IP address is cnfigured n NIC2, the netwrk card cnnected t yur internal netwrk. Please nte that fr this card yu need t cnfigure nly the IP address (e.g ) and subnet mask (e.g ). 5. DHCP server is cnfigured n the Htspt netwrk. We reccmmend setting yur wi-fi ruter/ access pint t act as DHCP server as it will free resurces n the Htspt pc and prvide the mst reliable service. If yur wi-fi devices des nt have DHCP feature, yu can use Htspt's built-in DHCP server. Nte that Internet mdem/ruter cannt be used as DHCP server fr yur clients. 6. There are n applicatins running n Htspt pc that are using prt 80 (IIS, prxy sftware) Sinca 6

7 1.3 Htspt installatin It is recmmended t disable antivirus sftware while installing Htspt and t add C:\Sinca flder t exceptin list after installatin. Htspt installatin and cnfiguratin: 1. Dwnlad latest Htspt installer frm this address: 2. Start the installer, accept the terms in license agreement and click Next buttn 3. In Express Installatin sectin click Next buttn 4. When installatin prcess is finished, click Rebt buttn t restart the cmputer 5. Htspt will start autmatically after restart 6. In Htspt lgin screen select Administratr user accunt and click Lgin (default passwrd is blank) 7. G t Setup - Netwrk - Netwrk Setup page 2012 Sinca 7

8 8. Click "Autmatically Cnfigure" buttn, Htspt shuld autmatically recgnize netwrk cards in the cmputer 9. Tick "Enable NAT (Internet Sharing)" and "Autstart Htspt" ptins 10.Set the maximum number f clients that will be allwed t access the Internet thrugh Htspt (this number cannt be changed in trial versin) 11.Click "Save" then "Start" buttn Yur Htspt gateway cmputer is nw cnfigured and ready t use. T test it, g t client cmputer, pen the brwser and navigate t sme website. Yu will be presented with Htspt lgin page Sinca 8
