Narriation 1 Speaker 1: Do you see it? Can you hear it? Can you smell it? Speaker 2: (sniff, sniff) I don t think I smell anything. Speaker 1: Sure you can. Just use your imagination. It s Christmas, and you can see it, hear it, and smell it all around you. Speaker 3: I think it smells all cinnamony and sugary and piney. Speaker 2: and it looks like lights, and gifts, and nativity sets. Speaker 1: And the sounds. Well, that s just about the best part. Lots of laughter and plenty of thank you s fill the air, but it s the songs of Christmas that help us to remember why we re celebrating. Speaker 3: Some of the songs of Christmas have been sung for over a hundred years, and every time we sing them we fill the air with the good news of the birth of Jesus. SONG...
O Come All Ye Faithful - Joy to the World O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, Oh, come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem Come and behold Him Born the King of angels O come let us adore Him O come let us adore Him O come let us adore Him Christ the Lord Joy to the world, the Lord is come Let earth receive her King Let every heart prepare Him room and heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing And heaven and heaven and nature sing. He rules the world with truth and grace And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love And wonders, wonders of His love And wonders, wonders of-- His-- Love
Narriation 2 Speaker #1: Bethlehem must have been a sight to see on the night Jesus was born. This little town was running over with people because Caesar ordered everyone to go to their hometown to be counted. Speaker 2: If you think the malls are crowded well, let s just say that the shopping rush is nothing compared to what happens when Caesar orders a census! Speaker 3: You re right. Bethlehem was certainly crowded with travelers, and in all the crowds and noise most of the people would miss the greatest miracle - the birth of Jesus, God s Son. Speaker 1: Like so many others, Mary and Joseph also had to travel to Bethlehem to be counted, but they weren t just ordinary travelers. "And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:6-7 SONG...
Away in a Manger Away in a Manger, no crib for a bed The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay. The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The Child in the manger, His mother nearby, now sings Him to sleep with a soft lullaby while Joseph is praising the Father above who gave up His Son in this Gift of love. Away in a manger, the Savior has come, though lowly and tiny, He s Gods only Son. A heavenly wonder, a beautiful sight, the promised Messiah on one holy night. A heavenly wonder, a beautiful sight. the promised Messiah on one holy night.
Narriation 3 Speaker 1: While the streets of Bethlehem may have been overrun with travelers, not everyone was caught up in the crowds and noise of the census Speaker 3: there were some poor shepherds out in the fields with their sheep. If there was anyone around who needed to hear the Good News, it was these guys. Speaker 2: Good news? Hey, I just got some good news! I saved money on my car insurance Speaker 1: (laughing) Well, this good news was delivered by God s angel and it was for everyone, everywhere. Speaker 3: The angel said Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. (Luke 2:10-12) Speaker 1: Then an angelic choir filled the heavens and sang paises to God! SONG...
Angels we have heard on high Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o er the plains And the mountains in reply, Echo back their joyous strains Glo- - ri-a in excelsis De-o Glo- - ri-a in excelsis De-o Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing Come adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the new born King Glo- - ri-a in excelsis De-o Glo- - ri-a in excelsis De-o
Narriation 4 Speaker 1: The shepherds were not the only ones who got a heavenly Invitation to worship Baby Jesus. Wise men from the east saw a new star in the sky that signalled the birth of a great King. Guided by that star, they began the long journey to find and worship Baby Jesus. Speaker 2: (laughing) Hey, I guess you could say the wise men s camels came equipped with the Onstar guidance package. Speaker 3: Well, asking a computer for directions may be quicker, but it s definitely not as spectacular as following a real star. The Bible says that the star went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. The wise men were overjoyed, and they bowed down and worshipped him (Matthew 2: 9-11) Speaker 1: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11) SONG...
We Three Kings We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts, we traverse a far Field and fountain, moor and mountain Following yonder star Glorious now behold Him arise King and God and Sacrifice Al-le-lu-ia, al-le-lu-ia, Earth to heaven replies. O -- star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading still proceeding Guide us to thy perfect light Westward leading still proceeding Guide us to thy per-fect li-ght
Narriation 5 Speaker 1: Wouldn t it have been amazing to be in Bethlehem when all this was happening? To smell the fresh cut hay in the manger? Speaker #2: To hear the angel s good news on the hillside? Speaker 3: To see the precious gifts the wise men brought? Speaker 2: To feel Baby Jesus little hand around my finger? Speaker 1: But the truly amazing thing is that we get to experience Jesus right here, right now. His birth is just as real to us as it was to the shepherds and the wise men. Speaker 3: And like those first Christmas visitors, we ve just got to keep telling everyone about the birth of the Son of God. SONG...
Go Tell it on the Mountain Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere, Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is Born While shepherds kept their watching O er silent flocks by night Behold throughout the heavens, There shone a holy light Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere, Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is Born Down in a lowly manger, The humble Christ was born And God sent us salvation That blessed Christmas morn Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere, Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is Born
Narriation 6 Speaker 1: Now that we ve sung the songs of the Christmas story, does Christmas look, smell, and sound the same to you? Speaker 2: I m definitely adding fresh cut hay to my list of favourite Christmas smells!!! (giggles) Speaker 3: I d say that Christmas looks, smells and sounds like LOVE God gave His Son for us as the ultimate gift of love. Everything about Christmas is wrapped up in love. SONG...
