2 Crossover continues to be a wonderful mid-week boost. We have an exciting month planned. Crossover is held on Wednesday evenings at the church. If you ve never attended a Crossover service you are missing out! You owe it to yourself to experience it. The evening begins with dinner and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is followed by an informal program at 7:00 p.m. and is conducted by volunteers who lead with personal experiences on an assortment of topics, ranging from Bible studies and character building exercises to information sharing, interpretive dance, drama and teaching sessions. If you are interested in leading a Crossover evening please see Cindy. Crossover has become an integral part of who we are. We all need to be fed spiritually during the week. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Birthday Bash SHFC Birthday Bash is December 4th! We will celebrate all birthdays for the month during our Birthday Bash! Please bring your favorite dish or two to share. Sweets are already provided by Sugar Magnolia Takery! Birthday Bash is immediately following church service. As we come to the end of another year, a recent sign at a Church read You can t out-give God but don t stop trying! Consider a year-end gift to support the ministries of the Church. Thanks for giving this Christmas. Page 2

4 Glimpses of God from Glenn... What say you Over the years, I have seen some interesting word changes occur. Christians and non-christians have changed from one phrase to another. Happy Christmas, became Merry Christmas, leading to Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays. The response was quick to Put The Christ back in Christmas, which led to Jesus is the Reason for the Season. We are all blessed to have Jesus in our lives. Whether Christmas is a busy season for you, a happy season for you, or maybe even one that has not so good memories, we still can hold on to the fact that a baby was a born in a manger for all of us. And as we get closer to the day of his birth, let us all come together to celebrate and worship our joys and our sorrows together in the presence of a loving church family AND in the presence of Jesus. Let us join together with Christ on Christmas Eve. You know, I saw a church street sign that read, Jesus is the Reason for EVERYTHING! Maybe we have finally caught the real truth. God bless, and Merry Christmas! Glenn Christmas holds a lot for each of us Christmas has always been a special time to me. It is the busiest season of the year. For me, I decorate, shop, plan, cook, bake, eat, celebrate, and...well, you get the picture - so much more. December is jam packed with so much until I almost need a vacation day or two in January just to recover from the activities of December. And I know it is my own fault. You see, I want Christmas to be better and better every year until I find I have worked myself into a state of holiday craziness! Just when I get a full dose of my mental unbalancedness on, other things blindside me. I know there are so many joys at Christmas, but there are disappointments that come as well. While we try to fill December with all of the wonderful memories of past Christmases, sometimes that can only lead to disappointments. What happens when something does not go as planned? In my experience, disappointments can and do happen. I have eaten my share of runny mashed potatoes, green-colored pumpkin pie, and burned rolls. I have traveled on roads of snow and ice and been scared to the depth of my very being. I have searched for any parking spot and driven stop and go well it was mostly stop and then move a mere inch at a time. I remember the first Christmas after my daughter passed away. I remember the last Christmas I celebrated as a family before my divorce. The memories of things done and left undone came flooding over me. Things that never happened memories that are never made can overwhelm anyone. But, the hope of Jesus Christ brings us the joy of new life and rebirth. A chance to make wonderful new memories to carry us and sustain us for years to come. Maybe you have your own stories. I hope you will share them with me. Thanks, Glenn Page 4
5 YACHT Club Hey Guys! So December is finally here, right!? YAY! This month we will be reflecting and studying Advent each week. We will discover and learn hope, love, joy, and peace along the way. This month we will start it off on December 2nd with caroling and Christmas light watching/seeing/stalking, you know, the fun stuff about the holiday! December is a TERRIF- IC month for us as we learn and focus on the birth of our Christ. We will gather the significance of certain topics, discuss what we are thinking and maybe even get our hands a little dirty again! Don t forget the church Christmas party on December 10th. The Youth will be wearing our ugly Christmas sweaters that are handmade and absolutely precious as well as doing a little dancing for the whole church! We look forward to each and every Wednesday and Sunday with them and for this month I pray Hope, Joy, Love and Peace for each and every one of them! I Love you, Tiffany Blue Christmas Service We are in the midst of Advent, anticipating and celebrating the coming of the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Christ. A time for celebration and joy! And yet, for some, the season is a drag. For whatever reason, we are down. But how can one be down in the face of the holiday season? Friends, family, society demand we sing Joy to the World. Lest we be branded downers, party poopers, or scrooges, we sing as instructed and put on masks of joy, happiness, and contentment. Jesus is coming, we are supposed to be happy right? On Wednesday, December 21st at 700 p.m. there will be a Blue Christmas service, where we can leave our masks at the door. For whatever reason if you feel down, a loss, stress, the short days, a change or a lack of change in your life, a shattered dream, I invite you to come and just be who you are and feel how you feel, without judgment, guilt, or worrying that you are bringing others down. Come alone or come with a friend or family. If the holidays bring you down, just come. All are Welcome. Always, you are Loved. Pastor Amber Page 5
