3 SPANISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE This program offers students courses in Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Spanish language learning. Using innovative teaching methodologies, students will be exposed to Spanish through interactive activities, acquiring linguistic knowledge through practices that will take learners outside of the classroom and into the Costa Rican culture. Students will experience the tico life and pura vida attitude through their interactions with local peers, extracurricular activities, and travel opportunities throughout the country. 4 SPANISH ONLINE One key aspect of our program that sets us apart from the rest is the online learning support students receive along with their live courses. After finishing a course with our program, students are encouraged to continue studying with us by taking their next course in our program online from their home country. Furthermore, students are encouraged to return to the UH the following semester to continue their studies on our campus. SPANISH FOR PROFESSIONAL DISCIPLINES The Study Abroad Program at the UH recognizes the need for discipline-specific courses to be offered to assist students and working professionals in acquiring Spanish linguistic ability for specialized courses. Specific courses are offered in the areas of Education, Health Care, Business, and Psychology.

5 ELECTIVE COURSES IN ENGLISH The UH also offers elective courses in English for those interested in the cultural experience of studying in Costa Rica. They are available in Health Care, Business, Engineering, Architecture, Psychology, and Education. ADDITIONALLY Students with advanced Spanish language ability will also have the option to take additional courses in Spanish at the UH campus to broaden the learning experience. STUDENT EXPERIENCE Beyond the classroom and homestay experience, students will have the option to participate in volunteering and travel opportunities throughout their stay.

We own the only Medical Simulation Laboratory recognized by the SSH in Latin America and other simulation labs for majors like Economic Sciences and Education.
