1 2016 Miss Fiesta San Antonio Application Miss Fiesta San Antonio is an internship program for the Fiesta San Antonio Foundation and the Fiesta San Antonio Commission. There are two parts to the internship: Miss Fiesta will serve as an ambassador for the Fiesta San Antonio Commission before, during and after Fiesta (April 14 24, 2016) until February 2017 and will attend events as required/requested; and Miss Fiesta will select one program area from the list provided by the Fiesta San Antonio Foundation to develop and complete a new, non-existing community service project based on that program area. The Foundation s program areas include: Examples of projects: Education Health and Fitness Safety and Environment Arts and Culture History and Heritage Researching a component of Fiesta and creating an educational program to educate school children on that aspect of Fiesta throughout the year; Researching a historical component of Fiesta and creating a video web series on that history; Creating a dance to support exercise and movement in our youth or elderly that can be performed during Fiesta and taught to school children or the elderly. Application & Selection Process 1. Applicant must submit the application, a 3 x 5 headshot photo, an official transcript from the most recent educational institution attended and three personal references. 2. Applicant must complete and submit the set of questions and detailed project proposal as outlined in this application. 3. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, January 22, Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will narrow down the applications to a pool of selected candidates. These selected candidates will attend an in-person panel interview to be held in February 2016 along with training sessions. 5. The selected candidates will present their project proposals to a live audience and a panel of judges at the Miss Fiesta San Antonio Selection Event to be held within the first two weeks in March. One candidate will be selected at this event to receive and complete the internship as 2016 Miss Fiesta San Antonio. The pay scale for the internship is $3,500, and taxes are the responsibility of the intern. 6. The person selected will need to be available for various appearances from date of selection through April 13, 2016; and the person will need to be available each day and night during Fiesta from April

2 14 24, Miss Fiesta San Antonio Requirements Applicant must be years old; be single, never married; not be pregnant or have any children; identify as a female; be a high school graduate; have a minimum GPA of 2.0 from the most recent educational institution; be a resident of or attending college/university in Bexar, Atascosa, Wilson, Guadalupe, Comal, Kendall, Bandera or Medina counties; be in good health and able to participate fully in program activities; be of good moral character and not be or have been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude or behavior that is, or could be, perceived by the Fiesta San Antonio Foundation as contrary to its Miss Fiesta program; have good presentation skills, good public speaking ability, poise, extemporaneous speaking skills and good social graces; not have any record of illegal activity (applicant s criminal history will be checked) and must not have any criminal charges presently pending against the applicant; not have any visible tattoos and/or piercings, other than ears; be willing and able to attend six training sessions in February; be willing and able, if selected, to complete the project proposed and attend events throughout Miss Fiesta s reign as the ambassador for the Fiesta San Antonio Commission; not be related by blood or adoption to a Fiesta Board of Commissioners member or staff member of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission or Foundation Board member; not have held the title/position of Miss Fiesta San Antonio previously; will not have any internships or conflicts which will prevent her from completing her duties from February 2016 February 2017.
