Late Works Sept 18 Oct Clotworthy House Visual Arts A Hayward Touring Exhibition from Southbank Centre, London The Oriel Gallery is delighted to present this exhibition of work by legendary artist Matisse. The French painter, sculptor and designer, Henri Matisse ( ) was one of the 20th century s most influential artists. His vibrant works are celebrated for their extraordinary richness and luminosity of colour and his spectacular paper cut-outs were his final triumph. Matisse: Drawing with Scissors, a Hayward Touring exhibition from the Southbank Centre features 35 lithographic reproductions of the famous cut-outs that he produced in the last four years of his life, when confined to his bed. It includes many of his iconic images, such as The Snail and the Blue Nudes. 3 The Oriel Gallery, Clotworthy House Scream & Scream Again 22 Oct - 19 Nov Curated by Abertoir Horror Festival The 1950s to the 1970s saw a dramatic change in British horror, somewhat different to horror as we know it today. Casually referred to as horror s golden age, the period saw actors such as Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing become household names, while the British horror film studio became a major influence worldwide. From the early gothic style to the infiltration of pop culture in the 1970s, this exhibition takes a look at films from this period and how they were marketed abroad through a collection of rare original international movie posters and lobby cards from around the world. Contemporary British Watercolours 24 Nov 22 Jan 2016 A Touring Exhibition organised by Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery for Maidstone Borough Council This exhibition features three original works from twenty one contemporary artists, who all use watercolour as part of their art practice. The exhibition challenges our usual preconceptions of what constitutes a watercolour painting, featuring abstracts, landscapes and portraits from artists as diverse as Hannah Maybank, Susie Hamilton and James Faure Walker. MADD Music A Celebration! 6 Oct 7 Nov MADD MUSIC is an Antrim based not for profit community music and education organisation which has been going strong now for 20 years. As part of the 4 Corners Music Festival, come along and enjoy this photographic exhibition of past performers, events, festivals, projects and participants caught by talented local photographers including Darren Brown, Carrie Davenport and many more. 4 River Town The Conservatory Gallery, Clotworthy House 12 Nov 19 Dec Sorrel Wills We are delighted to host this exhibition of paintings by local artist Sorrel Wills which are inspired by her surroundings near home in Antrim. Sorrel is a daily visitor to the river, Castle Grounds and Lough Shore in Antrim and is inspired by the landscape and how it changes with the seasons. Sorrel settled in Antrim 15 years ago and of her adopted town says, I didn t know much about Antrim before I came and hadn t expected to like it so much. I think Antrim has many elements of beauty and I want to capture it in a figurative style in its contemporary form. It is beautiful in the sunshine. I love to paint architecture too particularly the traditional buildings which survive. I think they should be noticed, celebrated and valued. I believe that a great piece of art makes the viewer stop and think for a while. I believe a great piece of art has a million pieces within it. Each section of the canvas can have its own narrative. Abstract art in particular, requires imagination and my kids see things in my work that I never realised were there. I hope my work asks the viewer to stop for a while, consider where it started and how it ended. Loose Thread Quilters is a small group of active quilt makers drawn from all over Northern Ireland. Formed in 1996, the group was established to promote the practice and art of patchwork, appliqué and quilting for the traditional quilt maker and the contemporary fabric artist. Flax Gallery, Mossley Mill Hugo works on canvas using oil paints and a variety of methods of application to create unique abrasions, textures and finishes. He is influenced by Mark Rothko, Wassily Kandinsky and Willem De Kooning among other abstract artists whose works he feels are timeless. The latest collection, commissioned by The Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum and launching there in October 2015, is called The Tale of the Thread and reflects the manufacture of linen. The pieces demonstrate a diversity of techniques and themes covering everything from social and economic history, environment and nature to family connections. The group membership covers a wide range of abilities from beginners to tutors of the craft, all united by a common love of fabric art. Thurs 3 Dec Sat 2 Jan 2016 Glengormley Art Club has been running for over 25 years and attracts novice, amateur and experienced artists living in Newtownabbey and its surrounding areas. The majority of works are paintings and drawings of landscapes, seascapes, still life and portraits using oils, watercolours, pastels, acrylics, pencil and mixed media. Flax Gallery, Mossley Mill

6 Venue details General Information The Oriel Gallery The Oriel Gallery is a state of the art contemporary fine art gallery situated in the former Long Barn at Clotworthy House set within the historic Antrim Castle Gardens. Since opening in 2011, the Oriel Gallery has placed itself firmly on the artistic map hosting a range of stunning exhibitions with a focus on national and international touring exhibitions, and collaborations with organisations such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Lichfield Estate and the Hayward Gallery, London. The gallery hosts a year round programme of high quality visual arts. The Oriel Gallery can also be hired as a unique wedding venue. The Conservatory Gallery The Conservatory Gallery in Clotworthy House is located in the inner courtyard, adjacent to the buzzing café area. The Conservatory has recently been dedicated to presenting the work of local and emerging talent and community groups.
