3 Invitation I am delighted to invite you come to join our 9th International Summer School (ISS) CNU ISS has pursued harmony in both globalization and passionate youth as a major goal for the last 8 years. This program is carefully designed for those students who wish to spend their summer abroad meeting new friends with an unparalleled opportunity for personal growth and discovery. This program will also provide a platform for diverse cultural backgrounds to exchange their opinions and experiences about Korean daily life. ISS will definitely give you a new perspective on the world. You will meet other students from all over the world with whom you will share unforgettable memories and form long-term friendships. During ISS, you will learn the basics of Korean language, as well as take part in activities in and off campus for three weeks. Through this opportunity, we expect participants to develop teamwork skills and also your selfconfidence at being representative of your country. 5 Admission General Information How to Apply + Application Procedure Students from Partner University Submit the completed application form and other supporting materials to the International Office at your university. Obtain nomination from the International Office at your home university (Due to limited availability, nomination from your university doesn't guarantee admission) Submit the completed application materials of nominated applicants to the Office of International Affairs (OIA), CNU (by home university) Final admission decision will be made by the Office of International Affairs, CNU. + Application Materials Application form that includes a passport photo.. Certificate of Enrollment Transcript + After an admission decision is reached, submit Oversea's Traveller's Insurance which covers your staying in Korea. (before 30th June) Arriavl Information form (before 4th July) 01 Visa (for Tourism or Temporary Stay) For short stay (usually less than 90 days), no visa is required for students from country of visa free agreement with Korea. The temporary visit visa (C-3 status) is required for students from country without visa free agreement with Korea. OIA will provide relevant visa documents necessary to acquire C-3 visa. 02 Arrival From Incheon International airport, you can take shuttle bus to Daejeon 'Jeongbu-Cheongsa' (Korea Government Complex) bus stop (approximately 3 hours long ride) Then take a taxi to 'Chungnam-dae Gi-suk-sa' (CNU Dormitory, approximately minutes long ride) Our supporters will be at dormitory office, 1st floor of Building 3, and help your registration. (19~20th July) 03 Supporter System CNU student volunteers with English proficiency will be assigned to help ISS participants to acclimate the easy transition to Korea and also join the afternoon cultural program 04 On-Campus Housing Dormitory room with single bed, bedding, closet, desk will be provided. (Double or more occupancy rooms) Room and board includes room and 2 meals (breakfast & dinner) a day. Dormitory costs around USD 400 and only partial scholarship participants charge this fee. Payment should be made from 21stJuly~23rdJuly. 05 Certificate / Course Transfer Upon the successful completion of the program, a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded at Closing. The program offers total of 90 hours of Korean language and culture classes. The credit hours may be transferred in accordance with the regulations of your university. Consult your academic advisor to ensure the credit can be transferrable to your university. 06 Travel Insurance Policy All international participants are required to hold travel insurance policy and send the copy of any provement by until 30thJune. 8 9
