1 88475 Advanced Printing and Imaging Technology (R) 2 credits Gr: Prerequisite: Printing and Imaging Technology Description: 2 credits, Careers in printing span all aspects of the industry. This course includes skills and technical knowledge necessary for an entry level job in the graphic arts industry. Students will acquire skills which are immediately useful. Entrepreneurship, safety, and leadership training are included. After completion of this course, students have a salable skill in the areas of digital imaging & pre-press, offset printing & digital printing operations and bindery. The course provides students an opportunity to develop the basic manipulative skills in the use of digital & offset equipment and develop an understanding of the underlying theories, technical information and proper procedures involved in graphic communications Animation (R) 1 credit Gr: Prerequisite: Graphic Design and Illustration, or Art I Description: Careers in animation span all aspects of motion graphics. Within this context, in addition to developing technical knowledge and skills needed for animation, students will be expected to develop an understanding of the history and techniques of the animation industry. With this hands-on course, students will create 2D and 3D animations by learning the basics of layering, modeling, character animation, lighting, and visual/audio/special effects using industry standard software, the same software used in Hollywood and the gaming industry. The course will include techniques in videography, lighting, producing, directing and editing. courses will require an application and acceptance into the magnet program. Students will be expected to develop an understanding of the industry with a focus on pre-production, production, and post-production audio and video activities Practicum in Audio Video Production (LAB) (R) 2 credits Gr: 12 Prerequisite: Advanced Audio Video Production Description: [College and Career Magnet course offered only at LCHS] Instruction is designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment in video and television production careers. Students will script, shoot, edit, direct, and produce a school newscast. courses will require an application and acceptance into the magnet program. Students will be expected to develop an increasing understanding of the industry with a focus on applying pre-production, production, and post-production audio and video activities in a studio environment. This course may be implemented in an advanced audio, video, or animation format. Instruction may be delivered through lab-based classroom experiences or career preparation opportunities.

Students will learn advanced lighting, shooting and editing techniques. This laboratory course covers knowledge and skills related to clothing decisions, management, wardrobe planning, clothing care, and different characteristics of fabrics and finishes. 4 88517 Practicum in Arts, A/V Technology & II (CP) (R) 3 credits Gr: 12 Prerequisite: Practicum in Arts, A/V Technology and I Description: 3 credits, In this second year program students will continue to study careers in audio and video technology and film production. In addition to developing advanced technical knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and career cluster, students will be expected to develop an increasing understanding of the industry with a focus on applying pre- production, production, and post-production audio and video activities in a studio environment. This course may be implemented in an advanced audio, video, or animation format. Instruction may be delivered through lab-based classroom experiences or career preparation opportunities Practicum in Fashion Design I (CP) (R) 3 credits Gr: Prerequisite: 16 years of age, Advanced Fashion Design Description: This practicum course is a paid occupationally-specific course for students participating in a coherent sequence of career and technical education courses in the field of fashion design. Students must be gainfully employed by the beginning of the third week of school to remain in the class. Job-specific skilled training is provided through the use of training plans by local training sponsors in areas compatible with identified career goals in fashion design Practicum in Fashion Design II (CP) (R) 3 credits Gr: 12 Prerequisite: Practicum in Fashion Design I (CP) Description: This practicum course is a paid occupationally-specific course for students participating in a coherent sequence of career and technical education courses in the field of fashion design. Within this laboratory course the concepts and skills related to textile design and production, apparel design practices, and the apparel industry will be explored. Students are expected to develop an advanced understanding of fashion, with emphasis on design and production. Students will apply correct procedures used in garment fitting, pattern making, and pattern alteration as well as completing a Fashion Design Portfolio. Students will design and produce a professional fashion line. Description: [SHS only] This activity based technical course provides students with the opportunity to do research and developmental activities in Computer Animation. A student or a small group of students are able to creatively pursue new knowledge and solve technical/industrial problems. Students will research, collect data, problem solve, design, and develop working 2D and/or 3D animations. Examples of student possible learning activities are script writing, story boarding, design and visualization, Film and TV effects, game design, and animation. Students will learn the theory and history of radio production as well as the production processes involved in commercial production and radio programming Video Game Design (R) 1 credit Gr: 9-12 Description: The student will be provided the opportunity to design, program, and create a functional video game. The course will introduce basic programming language and skills that are essential to developing a video game. Topics covered are math, physics, design, and computer programming. Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies. Knowledge and skills in programming and creating video games are delivered through totally interactive software. Through text, pictures, animations, digital video and a highly interactive and self-directed curriculum, students are led through the exciting world of video game design. This course will instruct students on how to apply the design or problem solving process in order to create a real world solution and learn the basics of programming structure and functions.
