Enclose a $40 nonrefundable application fee (check or money order payable to Oakland University). Sign and date the application at item 39. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please see the International Applicants section below. If you are a permanent resident, please provide a copy of the front of your Permanent Resident Card. Send all documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 101 North Foundation Hall, Oakland University, Rochester, MI Provide the following documents that apply to you: FRESHMAN APPLICANTS Request that an official copy of your high school record be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This should be completed by the high school you last attended. Results of your ACT examination also are required. TRANSFER APPLICANTS Request that an official transcript be sent to Oakland University, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, from each college or university you have attended. If you have earned fewer than 24 semester credits, a high school record is also required. To be considered official, the transcript must be mailed directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the records office of each school and must bear the seal of that institution. SCHOLARSHIPS This application, combined with your cumulative grade point average and composite ACT score, also serves as your application for most merit awards offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to incoming freshmen. Transfer students are automatically considered for merit scholarships offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, including the Phi Theta Kappa award. If you are interested in applying for The Honors College, which also awards several scholarships, please call (248) or visit for more information. If one of your relatives graduated from Oakland University, you may be eligible to apply for the Legacy Scholarship. Call (248) or visit to learn more. If you are being considered for additional academic awards, you may be contacted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for further information. POST-BACCALAUREATE APPLICANTS Submit a photocopy of your baccalaureate diploma or an unofficial transcript stating that you hold a baccalaureate degree. There is no application fee for post-baccalaureate students who hold a bachelor s degree from Oakland University. Post-baccalaureate status indicates that you hold a baccalaureate degree or higher and you wish to enter Oakland University for the purpose of taking undergraduate classes. Under PB status, your previous academic work will not be evaluated by the registrar and you will be admitted as a special nondegree candidate. Tuition is assessed at undergraduate upper division rates. Please note that students under this status do not qualify for financial aid. SECOND DEGREE APPLICANTS Request that an official transcript be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from each college or university you have attended. Completed files will be referred to the academic department for review. Some departments require that you meet with them before a decision is made. You will be notified in writing after a final decision has been reached. Students holding a bachelor s degree or higher who wish to enter Oakland University for the purpose of obtaining an Initial Michigan Provisional Teaching certificate should complete this application. Second-degree status indicates that you hold a baccalaureate degree and wish to earn a second undergraduate degree. Tuition for this status is assessed at undergraduate upper division rates. DUAL ENROLLED HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS Fill out a Dual Enrolled High School student application and have your principal or counselor sign it. Please visit our Web site at to download an application, or call (800) OAK-UNIV. Submit the application with a high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The undergraduate application is not required, and there is no application fee for Dual Enrolled High School applicants. Admission as a Dual Enrolled High School student is valid for one year only. To renew your status, submit a new application and an updated high school transcript. Dual Enrolled High School student status indicates that you are presently attending high school and wish to take college courses as a high school student. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS International applicants may be required to submit additional application materials to be considered for admission to OU. NON-MATRICULATING APPLICANTS Contact an admissions adviser to determine if this status is right for you. Non-matriculating status indicates that you do not currently hold a bachelor s or higher degree and will be taking only a few undergraduate classes. This is not a degree-seeking status. Please note that students under this status do not qualify for financial aid. 2 ACADEMIC OFFERINGS CHOOSING A PROGRAM Mark the four-digit code for the program of study you prefer. This information will help us provide individualized academic advising. You may change your major after you are admitted. If you cannot identify a specific area of interest, please choose the Undecided, No Major Preference category (code 7500). The criteria and procedures for admission to a specific program are the responsibility of the college and department of the school of the major. Admission to OU does not guarantee admission to your desired major program, because some programs do not admit students to major standing until prerequisites are complete. Oakland also offers a number of interdepartmental concentrations that can help you chart a personalized educational program.
