2 Vision: Community matters. God exists in community Father Son and Holy Spirit. God created out of community, the Father spoke (Gen 1), the Spirit hovered (Gen 1), and nothing was made without the Son (John 1). God created humanity to reflect the image of the trinity Let us make mankind in our image.male and female he created them Community would be at the heart of God s original plan for his creation and would prove a vital part of God s plan of restoration as he called a family, then a group of tribes and then a nation. In the fulfilment of that restoration plan, Jesus, GOD continued to work in community. Jesus did not appear in the abstract, rather he was carried in a womb, born into a family and grew up in community. His first miracle takes place at a marriage feast, God s template for community and in his ministry Jesus places priority on community as he calls disciples to walk with him. God pours out his Holy Spirit on the community of the church and declares that community the new temple of his presence. Here at Jubilee we want to reflect God s heart for community in all that we do. Studies on healthy churches have revealed that people connect with churches most effectively, not because of great preaching or great worship, but because of great friendships. We want to make sure that in 2016 we raise the profile of friendship and community, whilst also releasing great ministry. Community groups are a key part in building community here at Jubilee. In a growing church it is impossible for anyone to know everyone, but it is vital that everyone knows and is known by someone. Community groups are a great way to build those relationships, out of which we help one another press into the heart of the Father and allow the Holy Spirit to mould us into the image of the son. Whether you can commit to a group on an ongoing basis or just plug in for a season we would encourage you all to plug into a group this term and build community together. 3 Questions you may have: When are groups starting? Unless otherwise stated our groups will start the week beginning Monday 18 th January. How many weeks are groups meeting for? Most groups will meet from ten to twelve weeks from mid-january to April, with breaks on the third Wednesday of the month for JCC Prayer meetings. Most groups will meet weekly. What about JCC prayer meetings? JCC prayer meetings are usually the third Wednesday of the Month, unless otherwise stated. In February we will be meeting in various locations to pray as JCC Clusters. Contact your Cluster or Group leader for details. Do I have to attend a community group? No, but Sundays and midweek community groups are important to us here at Jubilee Community Church. We think that being part of a community group will help you maintain friendship and grow as a follower of Jesus. How can I find out more? 4 Joining a Community Group What am I signing up for? It would be really good if you could sign up for a group and evening that you will be able to attend on a regular basis. The more regularly we attend the more we will develop friendships and grow in faith together. How do I sign up? Please Pete@jcceg.co.uk or complete a sign-up form in this booklet and hand it in at the Connect Point or put it into the Connect Box on a Sunday. Alternatively if you see a group that could work for you, feel free to contact the Cluster overseer or Group Leader direct. What happens after I ve signed up? You will hear from a group leader, cluster overseer, or Pete Benton with the details. Details will include start date, when and where the group will meet and welcome you into the group.
