1 White Mere Community Primary School KS2 Grammar and Punctuation Overview

2 To ensure our pupils have a complete and secure understanding of discrete grammatical terms, punctuation and spelling rules, discrete grammar, punctuation and spelling sessions are conducted within KS2. These discrete sessions develop pupil s knowledge and understanding of key terms and skills in grammar, punctuation and spelling. Literacy sessions then give our pupils the opportunity to apply this knowledge and skill within their writing. In KS2, pupils are organised into ability spelling groups. This ensures all pupils are appropriately taught and challenged for their spelling knowledge and understanding. This overview outlines the key terms and skills taught across KS2. Key: Terms and skills highlighted in red refer to consolidation and review from previous year group.
