16 Evaluation of gas distribution today 16 Energy activity of gas distribution is described with all data shown before. There are great differences between distributors; ownership structure, number of consumers and gas consumption quantities. Length of network number of consumers ratio and density of consumption (m 3 /m) show that gas distribution has not achieved expected development yet. It can be expected that in the future gas distribution will be carried out by privatised companies that cover gas distribution exclusively. All distribution companies also carry out energy activity of retail supply, which would be the case for a while. Eventually, the number of retail suppliers will reduce.

17 Possible development of gas distribution in Croatia 17 An example of possible aggregation of distribution companies within six regions which are shown only for purpose of evaluation of number of consumers per supposed regions. Four out of six proposed region have around or more than consumers which means that eventually each region could be covered by one distribution company. Similar situation can be expected in retail supply of natural gas.
