21 BACKGROUND: Mason, OH: Mason is the largest city in Warren County, which is near the southwest corner of Ohio., approximately 22 miles (35 km) from downtown Cincinnati. As of the 2010 census, Mason's population was 30,712. Mason was ranked y Money Magazine as the 7 th best place to live in the US. The Mason City School District is one of Ohio's most elite public school districts. It consistently ranks in Ohio's Academic Top 10. Mason began major growth into a larger community, and one of the most affluent in Greater Cincinnati, beginning in the 1990s. Mason sits at the core of the Cincinnati-Dayton Metropolitan Region, the 14th largest urban area in the nation. Mason's largest employers include Procter & Gamble's Mason Business Center, the headquarters of Luxottica Retail and Cintas corporate headquarters (approximately 2 mile from site). Other notable companies with large operations in Mason are Mitsubishi Electric, L-3 Communications and Heinz.[24] Over 500 businesses operate in Mason's 18 square miles. High-tech companies, corporate headquarters, and light industries are particularly attracted to Mason. More than 90 corporations have headquarters or manufacturing operations in Mason's 24 commerce parks. Recreational Attraction: There are three (3) amusement and recreation parks that share the I-71 Exit with this Site. Kings Island amusement park (Largest Amusement Park in the Mid-West), Great Wolf Lodge a 79,000 square foot indoor water park and The Beach an All-season Recreation Park. Mason is also home to one of the largest tennis stadiums in the world, the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Western & Southern Open, a top tennis tournaments for both men and women. Kings Island: Kings Island sit on 364-acres. It is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. The park features over 80 rides, shows and attractions including 14 roller coasters and a 33-acre water park. The seasonal amusement park is open from April through Labor Day and reopens for a short time on weekends beginning in September for Halloween-themed events. In 2013, Kings Island was the secondmost visited seasonal amusement park in the United States behind Cedar Point with an estimated 3.2 million visitors. It was third overall for seasonal attendance in North America. The park has won Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Award for having the "Best Kids' Area" in the world for thirteen consecutive years ( ) making this one f the largest family attractions in the state.
