1 Burdekin Burdekin Shire Cuncil has cnstructed a lcated in Plantatin Park, Ayr n the Bruce Highway. Its purpse is t assist in the prmtin f Burdekin events t the cmmunity and turists. 2400mm 1800mm As part f the Burdekin Shire Cuncil s cmmitment t supprting a brad range f cmmunity events, the Cmmunity Event Sign can be utilised by cmmunity and nt-fr-prfit grups cnducting events in the Shire. Please use the fllwing Guidelines and Prcesses t arrange a cmmunity event sign fr yur rganisatin. 1. Applicatin Frm Yur rganisatin will need t cmplete a Cmmunity Event Sign Applicatin Frm. On the Applicatin Frm (which is attached t this dcument), sme backgrund infrmatin n the event, the rganising bdy, the time perid t display the message, and the wrding is required. Applicatins fr the use f display space n the will be received n an nging basis. 2. Display Bard Respnsibility Applicant grup is respnsible fr: Prviding accurate and cmplete infrmatin n the Applicatin Frm; Ensuring applicatin is ldged at least tw mnths prir t the event date, including the display bard design fr apprval by Burdekin Shire Cuncil; Creatin and prductin f signwriting fr display bard and all assciated csts. Screen-printing n a sign 2400mm x 1800mm is apprximately $600; and Csts fr updating its display bard with new dates each year. Burdekin Shire Cuncil is respnsible fr: Advising f the success f the applicatin r therwise; Supplying the applicant grup with the specially manufactured blank display bard at n cst; Installatin and remval f the display bard; and Strage f the display bard. When nt n display, the bard will be stred by Burdekin Shire Cuncil fr the Grup s use the fllwing year, when the Grup will nly be required t cmplete a Cmmunity Event Sign Update Frm and cver the csts f the dates n the display bard t be changed by a lcal signwriter. Display Bard Specificatins The bard is made frm AluGBnd (supplied by Burdekin Shire Cuncil); The size f the display bard is 2400mm x 1800mm (made up f 2 (1200 x 1800mm) panels; The bard will appear in a standardised way. 1800mm 2400mm Yur grup will be required t prduce the design t be printed/painted n the display bard. It is a requirement that yur grup des this in cnjunctin with a lcal signwriter f yur chice, wh will als be required t print/paint the design n the display bard. Burdekin Shire Cuncil MUST apprve all display bard designs prir t them being printed/painted by a lcal signwriter. Yur grup will be required t cver the cst f the printing/painting by the lcal signwriter. Burdekin Shire Cuncil will erect yur display bard, remve it after the event has ccurred and will stre it. Fr annual events, yur grup will be required t cver the csts f updating the dates f its event n yur display bard each year. 4. Display Time The length f time that yur grup s display bard will be erected will depend n the number f applicants fr that perid, and will be at the discretin f the Burdekin Shire Cuncil. 5. Eligibility T be eligible t display yur event message n the Cmmunity Event Sign, events must meet all f the fllwing eligibility criteria: Cmpleted applicatin frm must be received at least tw mnths prir t the chsen display date; The event rganising bdy must be based in the Shire r prvide services t peple within the Shire; Events must be pen t all residents f the Shire; Applicants must hld current Public Liability Insurance sufficient fr the prpsed event; All events prmted n the Cmmunity Event Sign must ccur within Burdekin Shire. 6. Pririty Grups In apprving applicatins, Cuncil will cnsider the fllwing: Cuncil-initiated events Cuncil-supprted events (supprted thrugh partnerships r direct funding) Cmmunity Events They will be assessed using the fllwing pririty criteria: 1. Have the ptential t attract large crwds f participants; 2. Invlve a wide range f lcal cmmunity grups eg. lcal arts, cultural and ethnic grups; 3. Have demnstrated the ability t hst the event; 4. Offer smething significant r entirely new t Burdekin Shire Cuncil residents; and 5. Are accessible t all residents. Page 2 f 5
3 7. Terms and cnditins Burdekin Shire Cuncil will develp a system f space allcatin, based n the pririty grups, and take int accunt previus access t the Cmmunity Event Sign. The display bard message, if accepted, may be cmplemented with a listing in the Cmmunity Calendar r the Burdekin Shire Cuncil website. Burdekin Shire Cuncil reserves the right nt t accept r prmte any events that culd invlve the Burdekin Shire Cuncil in a cntrversial issue r expse Cuncil t adverse criticism. Shuld the applicant r any f its spnsrs be regarded as inapprpriate under the fllwing, then the applicatin fr prmtin will nt be accepted: An event that is at dds with lcal gvernment plicy directly r indirectly; An event that des nt meet the cmmunity standards relating t gd taste ; Any prducts r services which are at dds with Burdekin Shire Cuncil s duty f care, aims r bjectives. Burdekin Shire Cuncil is respnsible fr yur event sign while it is displayed in Plantatin Park. In all instances, Burdekin Shire Cuncil reserves the right nt t accept an applicatin fr space n the Cmmunity Event Sign. Burdekin Shire Cuncil will nt be held respnsible fr the cnduct f the event.
