2 ADISADEL COLLEGE, CAPE COAST, GHANA Adisadel College is one of the leading senior high schools in Ghana. It is a first class school. It has produced prominent people in the country of Ghana. The school is located at Cape Coast of central region where the British Colony settled for Barter Trade with the then Ghanaians. Adisadel College is an Anglican educational institution in Ghana for boys, founded on the 4th of January 1910 and modelled on the typical English Public School. It is the second oldest high school in Ghana. "VEL PRIMUS VEL CUM PRIMIS"

6 LET US LEARN ABOUT GHANA FLAG There are four colours in the Ghana National Flag; Red, Yellow, Green and Black. Every colour means something. The RED means the blood our forefathers shared for our land. The YELLOW stands for minerals of Ghana such as Gold. The GREEN stands for the Agricultural land of Ghana. The BLACK which is a star stands for the hope of Africa

17 FESTIVALS IN GHANA There are three religions in Ghana. We have Islamic, Christian and Traditional religions. Every religion has its own festival. -The Christians celebrate Christmas, Palm Sunday, Easter etc. - Islamic people celebrate Eidr Fitre, Ramadan etc. - Traditional religions celebrate Abokyere, Akwasi Dai, Homowo, Hogbetsotso, etc. Please kindly let us know some of your festivals

18 FAIR TRADE In Ghana we have agricultural produce like; Cocoa, Timber, Salt etc. In Ghana, our lands are fertile. Please is it so in your country? If you plant does it grow well in your school compound?

20 HOW GHANA GAINED INDEPENDENCE The British who were Ghana s colonial masters first came to Ghana, the then called GOLD COAST, to settle in Elmina in Cape Coast. They came with the aim of trading with Ghana. The trading was about exchange so if we give the British Gold then they give us materials such as roofing sheet, drink, cement, etc. It got to a time when there was misunderstanding and there was a war between the British and the people of Gold Coast. People of Gold Coast were defeated and the British started to rule them. The Gold coast people suffered in the hands of the then British. A man called DR. KWAME NKRUMAH stood one day and told the white to leave our country and that the black man is capable of managing his own resources. The British built castles along the coast which they are all there to serve as history. People from all over the world come to pay visit and have real and full story of the Gold coast. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was arrested for years and later was released. He kept on pursuing his agenda that his country must attain independence. There was an agreement between the colonial master and the Gold coast people. The colonial masters left Ghana and parties were formed and lo and behold, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah s party emerged the best and since he was the flag bearer, he became the first President of the Republic of Ghana. He gained independence for Ghana on the 6 th March, 1957.
