2 FLIGHT INFORMATION Your Record Locator and Travel Itinerary Log onto your Mission Control Page on the Family Legacy website in order to find your record locator number. If the record locator is either missing from your Mission Control page, please to receive your record locator number. PLEASE REMEMBER that while your travel itinerary is displayed on your Camp LIFE Mission Control page, you should always confirm these details on the Emirates website itself as we may not always have flight changes updated on our site. Final details of your trip should be viewed through Emirates Manage My Booking page. To access this information go to Manage an Existing Booking on the Emirates website and enter your last name and record locator. If the reservation system does not recognize the record locator number given, please for a different locator number. TRAVEL PREFERENCES AND SELECTIONS Become a Skywards Member Log onto the Emirates website ( and register for Emirates frequent flyer program called Skywards. Once you have the member number, be sure to print your membership card and store the information securely. You will not receive a membership card in the mail until you have completed two round-trip flights with Emirates. Travel Options and Selections Once your fight has been purchased and your frequent flyer number is registered with the reservation system, you will be able to select seats, request special meals, and provide other information. Select Your Seats If you are traveling with friends not on your record locator then you can synchronize the selection of seats. There may be other Camp LIFE participants sharing a record locator with you, however each participant can make selections for their reservation only. Meal Preferences Set any meal preferences (child s meal available for passengers age of 12 and under) Unless you have some dietary requirements, we recommend the standard meal (default). On the flight, the chicken/lamb dishes are typically good Passenger Information Enter any needed passenger information and passport information which is vital for the Dubai connect information

3 Carry-On Luggage Emirates is extremely particular about the size and weight of carry-on items so make sure yours match the measurements and weight (include the wheels in your measurements as well.) From the Emirates website: CHECKING IN Check-in online for your flight 24 hours in advance. If you are not allowed to choose your seats, try entering your new Emirates Skywards account number. It may take a few days from the time you registered online for the member number to be recognized by the Emirates reservation system. Additionally, if your flight has not been purchased, then you will not be able to select seats. Rebecca is prioritizing the purchases of flights based on week number of Camp LIFE and if all funds have been received. LUGGAGE Baggage allowance Regardless of what the Emirates website says, every participant who is flying all flight legs on Emirates on a ticket purchased by Family Legacy is allowed three pieces of luggage at 50 pounds each. Extra Bags If you plan to purchase additional luggage with Emirates, please do this before you check-in online. If you are flying on another airline prior to connecting with your Emirates flight, you may not be able to purchase extra luggage online. Extra baggage (4th bag+) can be purchased online for $122. If purchasing at the airport, the cost is $175. All extra luggage purchase is for a 70-pound bag. Alternatively, at the airport you can increase your baggage weight from 50 pounds to 70 pounds for $50 per bag. Arrive at the airport at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours in advance of departure Since you have already checked in online there will be a separate line for online check-in passengers which moves much faster than the regular check-in line. The ticket agent may question you about your 3rd piece of luggage and if you re planning to pay for it. Simply (and kindly) respond to the agent that he/she should look in your record a 3rd bag is covered. When you check in, the ticket agent will give you your boarding passes along with your travel vouchers for your meals and hotel during your layover in Dubai and your baggage tags. Please carefully store these items securely as you will need to show them later during your travel. DUBAI LAYOVER Landing and Overnighting in Dubai When you land in Dubai, you will make your way to the Emirates Hotel desk where you will turn in your vouchers and be transported to the hotel you will be staying at during your layover. The following instructions will help you locate the Emirates Hotel Desk : Follow Signs for Baggage Re-Claim Once you disembark from the plane, follow the signs to Baggage Re-Claim. This will take you to the ground level of the airport via either escalators or elevators.

4 Passport Control and Customs Once you reach the ground level of the airport, you will immediately be required to go through Passport Control. You are not required to purchase a Visa or bring any additional documentation with you. Once you are through Passport Control you will continue walking straight and pass through the baggage re-claim area. After you have passed all the baggage carousels, you will go through the Nothing to Declare line of the Customs check point. Locating Emirates Hotel Desk After going through Customs, go through the main doors that are straight ahead and then turn left. As you walk, you will see on your left a row of hotel options and shuttle services. Walk past the Hotel/Shuttle options until you are in the final lobby area before exiting the airport. In the far corner, near the outside doors, you will first see an Emirates Information Desk. Just past this desk (and somewhat hidden behind the information desk) is another booth that has a red sign with Emirates Hotel Desk. Once you arrive here, simply give your vouchers to the workers and they will provide instructions regarding which hotel you will be staying at as well as riding the shuttle. Details for Your Hotel Stay Emirates works with 4 hotels near the airport and you could be at any one of these depending on availability on your travel dates. We have typically found our travelers are booked at either the Copthorne Hotel OR the Arabian Park Hotel. Checking In You will most likely only need your boarding pass and hotel vouchers to check in and receive your room key. You should not need a credit card, however, keep in mind that each hotel may have unique rules and some may require a credit card for incidentals. Internet Access At the Copthorne Hotel, internet can be purchased in the lobby (ask for specific location at time of checkin) and can be used throughout the hotel. The internet is accessible from only one device (laptop, ipad, iphone, etc.) and the amount of time you purchase is not concurrent and can be used at the same hotel on your return back through Dubai if you have another 8+ hour layover. At the Arabian Park Hotel, internet access is free and available in any part of the hotel. You can access the internet from any device at any time At other hotel options, internet access may have different rules or rates. If you are placed at one of the other hotel options, please access the hotel staff about cost and accessibility. Checking Out The hotel will schedule a wake-up call for you 30 minutes PRIOR to the shuttle departure time. They will call your room twice 30 minutes and 15 minutes prior to shuttle departure. The shuttle leaves the hotel 2 1/2 hours prior to your scheduled departure. When leaving the hotel, turn in room card key at front desk and board the airport shuttle Returning to the Airport When you return to the Airport, you will first need to go through Passport Control. There are many directional signs for gates posted OUTSIDE of Passport Control. This can cause confusion as they truly are only applicable AFTER you have gone through Passport Control. It is important, though, that you locate the gate screens to identify your departure gate before you go through Passport Control. Please be aware that your Zambia-bound flight Emirates flight 713 flies to both Lusaka and Harare, Zimbabwe. You may see the flight listed as the final destination being Harare but this is your flight. Lusaka is a stop on the way to the final destination in Harare. Typically, the board rotates between Lusaka and Harare, but just in case it is fixed on Harare, be aware that the listed flight information applies to your departure gate and time. After passing through Passport Control, you can follow directional signs to your correct gate and wait there for boarding. Traveling Through Dubai While traveling through Dubai, we recommend that all participants remain mindful of the distinct differences in the culture there. Here are a few important points to keep in mind: Attire We ask that young women do not wear shorts on any flight or when arriving in Zambia as this is considered provocative and disrespectful not only in the United Arab Emirates but also in Zambia. Ramadan In Dubai, Ramadan is observed beginning the evening of June 28th until the evening of July 28th. Those who observe Ramadan will be fasting from food and water. So, while in Dubai this means that visitors do not eat or drink in public until 7:00pm when all eating establishments are opened and the fast is broken. All international hotels will be serving food and drinks during the daytime hours, albeit the service is discreet so as to be respectful of those observing the fast. Ramadan does not disrupt any of the food and drink services while on Emirates flights. ARRIVAL IN ZAMBIA Immigration and Visa Once you land in Zambia, you will enter the terminal building and get in the appropriate line for Immigration. For those who have traveled to Zambia before, there are no longer landing cards to complete. Once all the passengers have unloaded off the flight, you are free to move to the back of any line that is shorter than your assigned line. This process can be very slow. If there is someone/family traveling in your group that is attempting to connect to another flight for a side trip, please accommodate them by allowing them to enter the line ahead of you. Everyone will need $50 cash for your visitor s visa unless you are traveling to Victoria Falls, in which case you will need $80 for a double-entry visa.

5 You can tell the immigration officer that you are visiting the country and if asked, tell them you are staying at Legacy Lodge. If they ask for an address, please kindly tell them you do not know the address but you are being picked up by friends. If you are taking a side trip, you will receive additional information from Susan Kendall. Baggage Claim After you have gone through Immigration, then you will enter the Arrivals hall and collect your luggage. There will be porters available who will attempt to assist you with any luggage. Please understand that they are attempting to assist you for tips. If you do not need their services, please kindly let them know that you can get your own bags. There are luggage carts (known as trolleys) available for free on the far side of the arrivals hall. As you exit the arrivals hall, you will want to go on the far right side that says Nothing to Declare. There will be airport agents there who will check your luggage tags against the tags on the luggage. Please have your luggage tag receipts out for them to verify. When you clear out, you will see the friendly Family Legacy staff wearing official Family Legacy logo apparel or Camp LIFE shirts. You can allow these friendly and trustworthy people to assist you with your luggage and direct you to the area where we will be gathering. If you are missing a piece of luggage, then you will need to go to the Lost Luggage counter to file a claim. It is necessary for you to give an accurate description of the luggage (style, color, brand). You will need to give the Lost Luggage assistants a phone number. Please let them know you are with Family Legacy and they will either have our local contact number or you can ask someone in your group to get the local number from a Family Legacy staff member. Once the group has cleared the Arrivals Hall, you will be transported to Legacy Lodge to experience the best week of your year, Camp LIFE.
