Series Overview This ICD-10-CM webinar series will provide the coder or clinical documentation specialist with the anatomy, pathophysiology, medical terminology, ICD-10-CM coding conventions and practical exercises to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes. The program follows the general format of ICD-10-CM chapters and detailed and comprehensive presentations in anatomy and pathophysiology for each body system are designed to provide each participant with the clinical background to correctly assign the appropriate ICD-10-CM code. The program will also cover the general ICD-10-CM coding conventions and guidelines as well as chapter specific coding rules. Upon completion of the webinar series, each participant should be able to assign ICD-10-CM codes accurately and efficiently. The speaker for this series is experienced and an AHIMA-certified coding specialist and ICD-10-CM trainer. Dr. Michelle has diverse experience in several challenging roles in healthcare compliance. Obtaining her medical degree in Romania where her area of practice included emergency and internal medicine, Dr. Michelle immigrated to the U.S. in Dr. Michelle became a Certified Coding Specialist and held the position of DRG Coordinator for Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville in the early 1990s. She held the position of Physician Liaison and Coding Consultant from 1991 to 1999 for FHAMC and was the Physician Advisor for Revenue Capture and Compliance for Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville from 1999 to Dr. Michelle held the position of Physician Advisor for Clinical Documentation Improvement Program for Shands Hospital Jacksonville from 2003 to She came on board full-time with the FHAMC in June 2011, where she provides Physician and CDIS Education in Documentation Improvement, acts as the Physician Advisor on the review of denials and defense of appeals and assists with the ICD-10 seminar development. Barbara Flynn, RHIA, CCS, is the Vice President for Health Information Management Services and Denial Management Services for the Florida Hospital Association Management Corporation (FHAMC). Barbara joined the professional staff of the Florida Hospital Association (FHA) in January 1991, where she developed service lines to assist member hospitals with HIM staffing, coding and billing compliance, interim management, educational programs, documentation improvement programs, and insurance and RAC denial appeals. Barbara developed Denial Management Services in January 2008, to assist member hospitals to appeal RAC coding and medical necessity denials to assist hospitals with the appeals process. Barbara became an AHIMA Certified Trainer in ICD- 10-CM/PCS in March Linda L. Renn, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-H is Vice President/Education & Communication with Stat Solutions, Inc. and Professional Outsourcing, Inc. in New Port Richey, Florida. She is a dedicated, detail-oriented Health Information Management professional, specializing in department management and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. She is experienced in diverse clinical operations of the Health Information Management Department including Joint Commission information system applications and technology, departmental budgeting, supervising of employees, continuous quality and process improvement, electronic health record systems integration, privacy and security. Her teaching and management style is one of empowerment and accountability using productivity standards. Linda is a result oriented professional with integrity and excellent verbal, written, computer language and public speaking skills.
