The Competitor must know: How to create and understand technical drawings (electronic circuits) How to plan work effectively to achieve task completion within a given time How to select and use accessories, materials and tools to build an electronic system How to apply knowledge about methods of construction electronic circuits How to maintain a safe work environment Knowledge of rules and regulations is not examined. 2.3 Practical work Refer to 2.1 Competency Specifications 3.0 THE TEST PROJECT: 3.1 Format / structure of the Test Project The format of the Test Project is a prepared single project for electronic applications. 3.2 Test Project design requirements The Host Member must provide the Project Kit Vellemann LED 3D Cube Further materials must be suitable for the Test Project and commercially available. The Host Member will provide contacts of supplier or agent of Test Project. All materials (Wires, LED s, Solder Lead,) relating to the chosen Test Protect must be available. Test Project proposals must include a full materials list, as well as marking forms Objective Marking, Subjective Marking and Mark Summary. Date: of 20

7 3.3 Test Project Development The Test Project must be submitted using the templates provided by Emirates Skills. Use the Word template for text documents and DWG template for drawings Who develops the Test Project / modules? The Test Project / modules are developed by the Experts How and where is the Test Project / modules developed The Test Project/modules are developed independently When is the Test Project Developed? The Test Project/modules are developed before the Competition. See also 3.6 Test Project selections below. 3.4 Test Project marking Scheme Each Test Project must be accompanied by a marking scheme proposal based on the assessment criteria defined in Section The marking scheme proposal is developed by the person(s) developing the Test Project. The detailed and final marking scheme is developed and agreed by all Experts at the Competition Marking schemes should be entered into the CIS prior to the Competition. 3.5 Test Project Validation It must be demonstrated that the Test Project/modules can be completed within the material, equipment, knowledge and time constraints. This will be demonstrated by a sample like the LED Cube Project. It will be provided by the Expert who designed the Test Project. 3.6 Test Project selection The Test Project is selected as follows: At the current Competition according for people with special needs, the Test Project for the Competition will be altered 30% from the prior submitted Test Project 3.7 Test Project circulation The Test Project is circulated via EmiratesSkills International website as follows: Submitted to Secretariat at Competition for immediate circulation. Date: of 20

The Skill Management Team comprises the Jury President, Chief Expert and Deputy Chief Expert. The Skill Management Plan is progressively developed in the six months prior to the Competition and finalised at the Competition (agreed by Experts and submitted to the Chair/Vice Chair of the Technical Committee). The Chief Expert is to regularly share updates of the Skill Management Plan. Date: of 20

9 5.0 ASSESSMENT: This section describes how the Experts will assess the Test Project / modules. It also specifies the assessment specifications and procedures and requirements for marking 5.1 Assessment criteria This section defines the assessment criteria and the number of marks (subjective and objective) awarded. The total number of marks for all assessment criteria must be 100. Section Criterion Marks Subjective (if applicable) Objective Total A Design B Construction C Appearance D Level of Difficulty Total = Subjective marking Scores are awarded on a scale of 1 to 10. Date: of 20

10 5.3 Skill assessment specification Criterion A - Design Experts will assess the following aspects objectively and subjectively LED connection (rectangle, cube) chose the right work steps (dividing into work steps) Criterion B - Construction Experts will assess the following aspects objectively. Layout Cube construction Wiring Soldering Problem management according to the Test Project Criterion C - Appearance Experts will assess the following aspects subjectively. Shape of the electronic system General Project Date: of 20

11 5.4 Skill assessment procedures The Experts that attend the Competition will be divided into marking groups to deal with each section of the marking criteria. If modular, every completed module/task/section will be marked on the same day in which it was completed. To ensure transparency, each Competitor is provided the same evaluation sheet as used by the Experts. Experts will maintain supervision of the Competitors during the Competition, but must not look at Competitors work, or have any knowledge of progress. At the end of each day of the Competition, the incomplete test pieces shall be collected, by the Workshop Supervisor, in storage boxes, sealed and signed, marked with the Competitor s workstation number and locked in a safe or strong cabinet. The key or combination to the safe or strong cabinet should be kept only by a neutral person, nominated by the Experts. At the end of each day of the Competition, photographs may be taken of all Competitors material, by a neutral person nominated by the Experts, to assure that no parts may be replaced or added. These photographs shall be kept in a safe or strong cabinet. At the end of each Competition module the test pieces for marking shall be sealed in storage boxes, inscribed with the Competitor s name and workstation number. For marking, the test pieces will be anonymously labelled by 2 neutral persons (including the Workshop supervisor) and will be marked without the Experts having any knowledge of the Competitors identity. Prior the competition, the Chief Expert will explain the assessment method to all Experts. The Chief Expert will divide all the Experts into teams for purpose of marking and setting up marking schedules. The teams are to be divided between experienced Experts and new Experts. Date: of 20

12 All the Experts should assess the same aspects for all the Competitors. All Experts assess the same percentages of the marks. Objective marking will be marked by teams according to criteria set, e.g. measurements, as detailed in paragraph 5.3. Subjective marking will be marked by teams via flash cards procedures as detailed in paragraph SKILL-SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Refer to UAE Health & Safety documentation for Host Country regulations and the ZHO EHS. The following skill-specific safety requirement must also be adhered to. The electrical cord should not be in the way and must be taped to the floor and the table. On every Solder Station will be safety goggles available The workbenches and tables will be protected with a rubber mat Competitors have to wear Lab Coats and closed shoes All Hand Tools have an ISO safety mark Date: of 20
