10 Public Health Training Center Program Purpose: Improve the Nation s public health system by strengthening the technical, scientific, managerial, and leadership competence of the current and future public health workforce. Emphasis is placed on developing the existing public health workforce as a foundation for improving the infrastructure of the public health system 10
11 Legislative Requirements 1. Establish or strengthen field placements for students. 2. Facilitate faculty and student collaborative projects. 3. Designate a geographic area to be served. 4. Assess health personnel needs of the area to be served and develop trainings to meet such needs.
