1 How do I? A guide to using the Social Care Commitment website

2 Introduction Here you will find guidance on all the features of the Social Care Commitment from registering to signing up and how to navigate the system. This guide explains everything you need to know to get started and aims to help you understand how it all works so that you can get the best out of it. 2

4 How to sign up as an Organisation Simply follow the steps below to register your Organisation and sign up to the commitment. 1. Visit 2. Click on the Sign up icon (top right of screen) 3. Select Register as an Organisation (we define organisation as a business or other type of organisation which employs more than one paid employee and/or volunteer and provides or organises care and/or support for more than one person. You may be CQC registered or providing another form of non-registered adult social care service). 4. Enter your details and agree to the terms and conditions then select Next. 5. Enter your employer details, selecting your main care service and organisation type then select Next. 6. An will be sent to you. Please click on the link in that to activate your account. 7. Once your account is activated log in using your address as your username. 8. Select Your Employer Commitment then click on the Update commitment button. 9. For each of the 7 statements you must select a minimum of one task per statement. To do this just click on the statement, select the task and enter a date to complete by. You can add notes to state how you plan on completing this task if you wish. When you have selected your tasks click the Commit button (bottom right) 10. Repeat step 9 for all 7 of the statements. You will be able to see your progress as you go through. When you have selected your tasks for all the statements you will see a purple button to Commit (left hand screen). By pressing this you confirm you have selected a minimum of one task per statement. You can add additional tasks later if you wish. 11. Congratulations you are now signed up to the Social Care Commitment and can begin embedding it into your organisation and cascading it to your employees and subsidiaries (if applicable) 4

5 How to sign up as an Individual Employer Simply follow the steps below to register as an Individual Employer and sign up to the commitment. 1. Visit 2. Click on the Sign up icon (top right of screen) 3. Select Register as an Individual Employer (we define this as someone who employs staff to care for themselves or another person for whom they have a carer role. The individual may be receiving a personal budget including direct payments or other funding to employ staff or they may be paying care staff themselves). 4. Enter your details and agree to the terms and conditions then select Next. 5. Enter your address details, selecting the activity performed and care/support services used. If someone is managing the account on your behalf they may enter their details otherwise select Next. 6. An will be sent to you. Please click on the link in that to activate your account. 7. Once your account is activated log in using your address as your username. 8. Select Your Employer Commitment then click on the Update commitment button. 9. For each of the 7 statements you must select a minimum of one task per statement. To do this just click on the statement, select the task and enter a date to complete by. 6 How to invite Subsidiaries This can only be done once you have signed up to the Social Care Commitment. 1. Log into your account and select My Commitments 2. Click on the plus symbol Invite others to join 3. Click invite subsidiaries 4. Enter their details and click Invite Your Subsidiary will receive an inviting them to sign up. Once they activate their account they will be linked to the Parent Organisation s account. If a Subsidiary has already signed up independently of the Parent Organisation they can link up. To do this the Parent Organisation needs to send out the Subsidiary invitation as this contains a code that the Subsidiary needs to copy and paste into the subsidiary field found in the Edit Registration section of the site. Once this is done the Parent Organisation will know that the Subsidiary is part of their commitment. 6

7 How to invite Employees This can only be done once you have signed up to the Social Care Commitment. 1. Log into your account and select My Commitments 2. Click on the plus symbol Invite others to join 3. Click Invite employees 4. Enter the addresses of the employees you would like to invite making sure that you separate the addresses with a comma. Your Employee will receive an inviting them to sign up. Once they activate their account they will be linked to your account. 7

8 How do Subsidiaries sign up Once a Subsidiary is invited by their Parent Organisation and they have activated their account they make the commitment in exactly the same way as the Parent. Follow the instructions on page 4 How to sign up as an Organisation from number 4 onwards. If a Subsidiary has already signed up independently of the Parent Organisation they can link up. To do this the Parent Organisation needs to send out the Subsidiary invitation as this contains a code that the Subsidiary needs to copy and paste into the subsidiary field found in the Edit Registration section of the site. Once this is done the Parent Organisation will know that the Subsidiary is part of their commitment. 8

9 How do Employees sign up Employees receive an invitation to sign up to the commitment. They need to click on the link in to activate their account. Employees need to enter their name and create a password. They will then be asked to log in. Please note the user name is their address. 1. Select Your Employee Commitment then click on the Update commitment button. 2. For each of the 7 statements you must select a minimum of one task per statement. To do this just click on the statement, select the task and enter a date to complete by. You can add notes to state how you plan on completing this task if you wish. When you have selected your tasks click the Commit button (bottom right) 3. Repeat step 2 for all 7 of the statements. You will be able to see your progress as you go through.
