Who We Are Stam was established in Genova in 1997 thanks to the seed funding provided by the European Space Agency Technology Transfer Programme for the development of an innovative gearbox technology. Today Stam is a successful high tech SME offering its services and products in a number of market sectors including: Aerospace Security Transport Robotics Energy

Achievements Stam experienced a continuous growth since its establishment. Forecast turnover for the next three years confirms the positive trend.

Technical Capabilities

From Design to Production

Industrial Research Stam invests a significant part of its turnover in R&D thus providing their customers with most qualified and edging competencies to drive development based on availability and affordability of technological trends. Stam is active since 1999 in the Technology Transfer Programme of the European Space Agency and it is an active member of the E2BA association.

Project Operation Sites Since 1997 Stam has completed more than 50 projects in more than 15 countries in the EU. 10 ADR1EN SME INSTRUMENT PHASE 2 ADR1EN First European System for Active Debris Removal with Nets

Phase 2 Application

Phase 2 Results Proposals submitted per Country Proposals funded per Country (1 st cut-off date)

Need Based on NASA Orbital Debris Quarterly News as of January 2013, approximately 23,000 objects are tracked while orbiting near the Earth: more than 6,000 satellites have been launched during the Space Age, but less than 1,000 of these are still in operation. The rest are derelict and liable to fragment as leftover fuel or exploded batteries.

Phase 1

Consortium SKA, STAM and OptiNav have successfully developed and validated till TRL 6 the active debris removal technology within the ADRiNET project, funded by the ESA.

Objectives The concept consists in catching space debris by shooting a net to them. After extensive feasibility and development work performed since 2012, to adapt this concept to the peculiarities of a space mission, the objectives of ADR1EN are: to validate by testing and qualify for space a scaled-up demonstrator of the First European System for Active Debris Removal with Nets; to develop the necessary business and commercialisation plans to reach the market and boost the growth of the partners; to catch the business opportunity generated by the need of increasing safety of space infrastructures with respect to the threat posed by the huge number of space debris lost in space.

Methodology Technical steps Up-scaling and piloting of ADR technology demonstrated in ADRiNET, supported by the net simulator developed and validated with the parabolic flight. Full scale ground tests of ADR1EN technology. Prototype tests in lab-simulated space environmental conditions, with the support of Thales-Alenia Space, one of the major players worldwide in the field.
