1 European Football Week 2012 Activities Summary - PART 2 Lithuania European Football Week 2012 in Lithuania was started by being presented to special schools and to the management of social care homes. From May 12 to May 15, seven Lithuanian regions organized local competitions (3x3; 2x2; 1x1) for the athletes of special schools and social care homes: in Kaunas-Prienai, Ukmerge-Joniskis, Jurdaiciai-Skemai, Gelgaudiskis-Kazlu Ruda, Aukstelke-Siauliai, Kedainiai, Priekule-Rusne (seven competitions involving 270 participants male and 60 female athletes). From May 12th to May 15th, 22 special schools and social care homes performed three football skills tests: 12 m ball driving slalom per 1 min; punitive of 9 m; ball driving and target kicking. 105 athletes participated: 82 male and 23 female athletes. On May 16th, UEFA Grassroots Day, Special Olympics Lithuania organized a one-day football camp to celebrate the 2012 European Football Week. The camp was organized for residents of children s residential homes in Siauliai. The children participated in the final social care home event and performed various soccer skills tests. On May 16th we organized the final European Football Week event for social care homes in Siauliai in the Klevas Sport School stadium. In this event 9 teams from various Lithuanian social care homes participated: Aukstelke (Siauliai Region), Adakavas (Taurage Region), Macikai (Silutes Region), Duseikiai (Telsiu Region), Jurdaiciai (Joniskio Region), Linkuva (Pakruojis Region), Venta (Akmene Region), Youth Centre from Panevezys and children s home from Siauliai. Each team included ten members: six men, two women and two partners. The teams were split into levels A, B and C with a total of 90 participants. The final event started with TAFISA the 5 th World Sport for All Games coordinators and symbol Tafisiukas. They organized sport exercise for our athletes before competitions. Siauliu FC Gintra-Universitetas (Lithuanian female football team Champions) ended EFW final event. Special Olympics athletes played with the women s football team.

2 All participants received T-shirts, medals, cups and other souvenirs. On May 17th, the final event for special schools was organized in Kedainiai stadium. Ten teams from Gelgaudiskis, Kazlu Ruda, Kaunas, Dabikine, Klaipeda, Kedainiai (two teams), Priekule, Rusne and our guests from the FC Nevezis team participated in this event (100 participants in total). The teams were divided into two levels according to the abilities of the participants On May 16 and 17, two seminars about Football Development were organized for 28 coaches. The lecturer of the seminars was Dovile Sertvytiene. Football materials from Special Olympics and the National Football Federation were presented. The closing ceremony of the European Football Week events was attended by the honorable guests Deimantas Jusys, the deputy headteacher of the Siauliai Physical Education School, Svajunas Mikalcius, the headteacher of the Siauliai Sports School and Saulius Skibiniauskas, the head of the FC Nevezis. Our teams received souvenirs with the symbols of the National Football Federation. They were presented by Vaidotas Rastenis, project administrator of the National Football Federation.

4 SLOVENIA 7 national tournaments held under the umbrella of Special Olympics Slovenia Football league and in cooperation with National Football Federation (tournaments were organized in Ravne na Koroskem, Novo mesto, Radovljica, Prevalje, Ljubljana, Koper and Murska Sobota,). There were 13 teams involved in this League. 10 players per team with all of them playing three times, so 130 players had the opportunity to display their football skills. During May Special Olympics Slovenia had Regional games at 5 different locations (Ptuj, Sentjur, Domzale, Nova Gorica, Radovljica) with football being a major element of the Games; 80 players took part. In May, Special Olympics Slovenia football players also attended the for the 12 th time in the row Slovenian Football Cup final with National Football Association support.

5 At the end of May a Seminar for football coaches took place; the most important topic was Unified Football which is being developed in Slovenia. 21 coaches participated in the seminar. European Football Week in Slovenia saw: 2 new football teams created 620 athletes take part in 13 events 100 volunteers from University/High School

6 Hungary A football training seminar for 35 new and existing coaches took place on May 12th-13th in Budapest. 10 new coaches are now certified for Special Olympics Hungary as a result of this seminar which involved 5 presenters, 2 of which were representatives of the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ). Practical and theoretical sessions were organized highlighting both male and female football, and the importance of local cooperation between Special Olympics sports clubs and mainstream clubs/local branch of the MLSZ. Demonstration matches and skills showcase events involving Special Olympics athletes before professional club matches during the OTP League National Championship took place as part of European Football Week in Hungary. Thanks to the cooperation of MLSZ, 80 Special Olympics athletes football players were centre stage on 8 different pitches across Hungary during the League s matches between 18th 20th May, Date Place Teams Spectators, media coverage May 18 at Kecskemet Kecskeméti TE Újpest FC 3500 spec. Sport 1 TV May 18 at Gyor Győri ETO FC Pécsi MFC 2500 spec. Sport1 TV May 19 at Budapest FTC FGSZ Siofok 6000 spec. Sport1 TV May 20 at Szombathely Haladas DVTK 4000 spec May 20 at Budapest Vasas Kaposvari Rakoczi 800 spec May 20 at Zalaegerszeg ZTE FC MVM Paks 1241 spec May 20 at Budapest Honved DVSC-TEVA 2000 spec. MTVA May 20 at Szekesfehervar Videoton FC Lombard Papa Termal FC 3412 spec. Sport 1 TV Football competitions took place in Győr and Balmazújváros for UEFA Grassroots Day. A national female unified football tournament was organized in Győr with close cooperation from top professional club RABA ETO. 10 teams participated in the event.

7 A male 7 a-side football tournament took place in Balmazújváros involving 7 teams. 6 new Special Olympics football teams were created during European Football Week - 2 female and 4 male. The week in Hungary involved more than 250 athletes participating in 2 competitions and 8 demonstration matches with Professional Football Club support from RABA ETO (Győr). In addition the FGSZ Siófok football club organized a full day football program for a Special Olympics football team. The team was later invited to Siófok by the Mayor of the city.

8 Portugal: A Game for All / Date: May 8, 2012 Location: Sports Complex Jamor - Oeiras / Lisbon 11-a-side game with former professional football players and staff members from the Portuguese Football Federation and our Special Olympics Portugal athletes. Among those present was the National Football 11-a-side coach - Paulo Bento, along with his technical team the same team at UEFA EURO The game was officiated by Jose Gomes, a professional referee and vice president of the Portuguese Association of Football Referees See attached link to an interview with the national football coach Paulo Bento on Portuguese national TV channel

9 Presentation of Special Olympics Movement and Unified Football / Date: May 10, 2012 Location: Lisbon School of Commerce - Lisbon A presentation to 40 students studying at the Lisbon School of Commerce on the Special Olympics Movement and the importance of physical activity and sports for people with intellectual disabilities. A future collaboration between the institution (Lisbon School of Commerce) and Special Olympics Portugal is anticipated following this event. Special Olympics Presentation - Football (the Sport, the Divisioning, the competition aspect, the training and "Unified") / Date: May 11, 2012 Location: School of Rio Maior - Rio Maior / Santarém A further presentation about Special Olympics to students of Physical Education and Football coaches at the School of Rio Maior. This presentation was incorporated into the seminar "The Education and game Training. Its operation in different contexts which was organized by the Superior School of Sport in Rio Maior. 5-a-side Football "Unified" Tournament - Wurth 2012 / Date: May 11, 2012 Location: Wurth - Abrunheira / Sintra 70 athletes and 22 partners with over 12 teams and their respective coaches took part. Guests included the national 11-a-side football coach and Goalkeeper coach for the national 11-a-side team, Ricardo Peres and former professional footballer, Paulo Futre who played at several clubs including Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Atlético Madrid and Benfica during his career. The referee Jose Gomes, is a professional football referee and Vice President of the Professional Association of Football Referees. He was involved during the Special Olympic World Summer Games in Athens a-side football Tournament / Date: May 27, 2012 Location: Greenfield - Oeiras / Lisbon 77 Special Olympics athletes and 12 coaches participated.
