1 ISSN PRICE SITUATIONER of SELECTED AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES Volume 1 No. 14 April 10, 2009 RICE: Prices remained at last week s levels in most trading centers. Price movements were noted in three (3) trading centers. Price of premium rice dropped by P1.00/kg in Legaspi City and that of regular milled rice by P2.00/kg in Tacloban City. In Iloilo City, price of regular milled rice inched up by P0.50/kg. Prices of NFA rice still prevailed at last week s levels except in Metro Manila where the P25.00/kg type dominated retail outlets. MEAT & POULTRY: Downward movements of prices of pork products and chicken egg were noted. Prices of beef products and dressed chicken moved in different direction. In Kidapawan City, prices of pork products registered decrements of P10.00/kg. In Tacloban City, price of pork lean meat dropped by P10.00/kg. Prices increased by P20.00/kg for beef lean meat in Tacloban City and by P5.00/kg for beef with bones in Cebu City. In Batangas City, however, price of beef with bones decreased by P10.00/kg. Dressed chicken prices were higher by P5.00/kg and P10.00/kg in the cities of Cebu and Davao, respectively, but lower by P5.00/kg in Legaspi and Tacloban cities. Chicken egg was cheaper by P0.10/pc to P0.25/pc in four (4) trading centers namely; Butuan, Tacloban, Cabanatuan and Tuguegarao cities. FISH: Prices of indicator species were on the uptrend due to higher demand as consumers shifted to fish products in observance of the Holy Week. Prices of alumahan escalated by as much as P50.00/kg in Legaspi and Cebu cities. For galunggong, prices went up by P10.00/kg in Baguio, San Fernando and Tacloban cities and by P40.00/kg in Legaspi and Cebu cities. VEGETABLES: Prices of cabbage, carrots, tomato and white potato moved upward while those of ampalaya and sitao moved downward. Prices of cabbage went up in nine (9) trading centers. Price mark-ups ranged from P2.00/kg in Cebu and Kidapawan cities to P10.00/kg in Baguio and Butuan cities. Prices of ampalaya slid in the cities of Legaspi, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Butuan. Price reductions were uniform at P5.00/kg. 1

2 FRUITS Calamansi prices were higher by P5.00/kg in Cabanatuan City, by P10.00/kg in Tuguegarao, Batangas and Iloilo cities and by P40.00/kg in Naga City. In Metro Manila and Butuan City, prices were lower by P10.00/kg. For mango, prices were up by P5.00/kg in Cebu and Butuan cities and by P10.00/kg in Cagayan de Oro City. In Baguio City, price was down by P10.00/kg. OTHER BASIC COMMODITIES Cooking Oil Prices were stable except in Tacloban City where a price cut of P4.00/kg was registered. Brown Sugar Prices remained at last week s levels except in Batangas City where a P1.00/kg reduction was reflected. Refined Sugar Prices went down by P1.00/kg in Batangas City and by P2.00/kg in Tacloban City. 2
