1 Training provided by Course curriculum proudly sponsored by The Sullivan County Sheriff s Office will host Level III Sniper Leadership, Training and Utilization of Police Snipers, September The Level III Police Sniper Course is geared toward command and control staff that will be tasked with developing, overseeing and leading police snipers. The course revolves around the ASA Police Sniper Utilization study and will introduce non-sniper trained command staff to the necessary skills and proper training of their snipers. For existing police snipers who are assigned with Sniper Section leadership, the course covers training, scheduling and tactical deployment and field management of teams as well as policy issues. Target Audience: SWAT Commanders, SWAT Team Leaders, Sniper Section Leaders, Agency Administrators, Snipers needing continuing education. The course will be 2.5 days in the classroom with the last half-day on the range. Snipers attending the course may bring their issued weapon system and participate in live-fire demonstrations and sample training and qualification drills. Team Leaders & Commanders are encouraged to participate in live fire if they have access to weapons. Limited demo weapons may be available for non-sniper assigned personnel to shoot. Areas Covered in the Course: Selection of Sniper Candidates Training Certification for Snipers Sniper Policy and Procedure Contemporary Sniper Equipment Weapon System New Weapon Specification Use of Force by SWAT and SWAT Snipers Review of ASA Police Sniper Utilization Report Setting up an Annual Training Schedule Best Practices in SWAT (NTOA and ASA) Realistic Training and Qualification Concepts of Close Team Support Each participant will receive: Comprehensive Course Manual Copy of American Sniper Association Police Sniper Utilization Report Course T-shirt Resource Disc Registration Instructions: Read the entire packet thoroughly. Complete the registration page and the applicable law enforcement or military applicant page. Scan and attach copies of any required certifications such as completion certificates to the registration packet.

5 LEVEL III SNIPER EQUIPMENT LIST Each trainee will need the following: Writing Material; Suitable attire for classroom for first 2 days of class; Suitable range/tactical attire for 3 rd day of class; Eye and Ear Protection for Range Day Assigned Snipers should bring: Primary Sniper Weapon System; 50 Rounds of Sniper Duty Ammunition Team Leaders/Commanders should bring: 20 Rounds of Sniper Duty Ammunition Additional Suggested Gear: Suitable Weather Gear; Laptop Computer

6 Course Cadre SNIPER COURSE APPLICATION Senior Instructor: Denny R. Elliott is a 20+ year veteran of law enforcement. He served nine seasons with the Kentucky Governor s Marijuana Strike Force where he served with a county wide element of a multiagency eradication team. He spent his last five years on the team as a Sniper and Sniper team leader. He served with a federal law enforcement agency where he developed the Tactical Marksman Program and oversaw the development of a tactical unit. He has acted as a consultant for other police departments in the area of patrol rifle. Denny served as the Tennessee state representative for the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET) for four years and is a member of the American Sniper Association, the National Tactical Officers Association and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. He is a certified instructor in Firearms, Tactical Rifle, Force on Force, Defensive Tactics, Baton and Edged Weapons. He currently serves as a Sergeant for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office commanding the Training Division. He also continues to serve as S.W.A.T. Training Officer and Sniper Element Leader. He developed the Level I, II,III and IV Police Sniper Courses which are owned by Sniper Pro Shop and presented by the High Ground Training Group. Sniper Pro Shop and High Ground Training Group utilizes select alumni of our past sniper courses as Adjunct Instructors. Many of these dedicated snipers come to assist in the course on their own time and at their own expense. We extend our thanks to them and their agencies for their dedication. Adjuncts are required to be current members of the American Sniper Association and have completed required reading and training assignments to better equip them to meet the needs of our sniper students.
