1 65 Main Street, Sparta, New Jersey Dear Friend and Neighbor, Spring is finally in the air which means it is time to start planning for the annual Miss Sparta Pageant! This year the Township of Sparta, through its Recreation Department, will be assisting with the Miss Sparta Pageant. We are all very excited to keep this wonderful tradition alive! As in the past, we are very grateful for the generous contribution to the Miss Sparta Pageant. Your support and goodwill has helped to make this Pageant the success it is! This year the Pageant will be held on May 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Mohawk Country Club. We re hopeful that with your continued help we can make this year s event even more successful! As you know, this entire event is supported by the donations and gifts from local businesses and citizens like you. The Pageant is important for honoring outstanding young women who take an active role in helping our community. It also provides a delightful evening of entertainment showcasing local talent. We hope that you can continue to support these special young women with a contribution for the 2016 Miss Sparta Pageant. 2 APPLICATION FORM 2016 Applicants are young women who: o Will be at least 17 years old, but not yet 20 by August 2, 2016; o Have leadership abilities and is an achiever; o Are full-time Sparta residents; o Will be available to represent Sparta in the Queen of the Fair Pageant in August of 2016, if the contestant wins. Criteria for selection of winning contestant includes: o A completed application together with a $25 application fee; o An on-stage question(s) selected by the panel of judges during the competition; o A 30-second personal introduction including your name, age, hobbies, and your personal goals. I hereby grant to Miss Sparta Pageant and the Township of Sparta s Recreation Department, it s photographer and/or videographer, the authority and permission, irrevocable and unrestricted right and permission to copyright in their own name, or otherwise to use and reuse and publish photographic portraits, videos or pictures, arising from my participation in the Miss Sparta Pageant. I also consent to the use of printed materials in conjunction with the use of photographs or videos. The use may include, but not be limited to the posting on the website advertising the Pageant, as well as printed advertising or other marketing materials. All photographs, videos and materials shall remain the sole property of the Miss Sparta Pageant. I further acknowledge and agree that I will not be compensated monetarily or otherwise for the photographs and/or videos or the use of photographs and videos. I hereby waive and release the Miss Sparta Pageant and the Township of Sparta, its photographers and videographers from any claims for compensation. I waive, release, hold harmless and discharge the Township of Sparta and the Miss Sparta Pageant from any and all liability arising out of my participation in the Miss Sparta Pageant. Page 1 of 2

4 65 Main Street, Sparta, New Jersey Nominations Open for Miss Sparta Pageant The Miss Sparta Pageant will be holding its 79 th annual Pageant on May 20, 2016 and is currently accepting nominations. The event will be held at Lake Mohawk Country Club on May 20, The Miss Sparta Pageant is looking for confident, accomplished young women who would be interested in representing the community as Miss Sparta The winner of Miss Sparta will move on to compete at the Queen of the Fair at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in August. Candidates must be between the ages of 17 and 20 as of the date of the Pageant, as well as a Sparta resident. Any candidate under the age of 18 will be required to provide written consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to participate in the Pageant.
