2. CL200, 300, 400 & 500 Mains Driven Mechanisms Fitting the Hands It is important that the minute and hour hands are synchronised together at the 12 o clock position. Firstly ensure that the mechanism is securely fixed using either the nuts on the threaded shaft of the mechanism or if a fixing plate is being used tighten the 2 screws on the brass boss. Carefully fit the hour hand onto the brass tube of the mechanism and then tighten up the stainless steel screw(s) on the brass hand boss ensuring that the hand is vertically in line with the 12 o clock marker. Fit the minute hand onto the stainless steel spindle, again ensuring it is vertical and in line with the hour hand, then tighten the stainless steel screw(s) on the brass hand boss. Remove the back cover on the mechanism and undo the black circular knurled nut to disengage the friction clutch. Using the pilot dial printed on the brass knurled wheel as a guide rotate slowly until the hands are slightly ahead of actual time. eg. If the real time is 2.15 rotate the wheel 2½ times anticlockwise making the hands approximately eg. If the real time is rotate the wheel 1½ times clockwise making the hands approximately Re-tighten the friction clutch with one hand whilst ensuring the pilot dial does not turn with the other. Replace the back cover and tighten the screws. Connect your mains cable to the movement ensuring firstly that the power is switched OFF and that once you ve inserted the plug into the socket you twist it to its locked position. You now have approximately 15 minutes to go outside and check the exact position of the hands in relation to the clock face and return to switch on the power. Wait patiently and when you're sure the time is correct switch on the mains power supply. Your clock will now start. Starting the System Connect your mains cable to the movement ensuring firstly that the power is switched OFF and that once you ve inserted the plug into the socket you twist it to its locked position. You now have approximately 15 minutes to go outside and check the exact position of the hands in relation to the clock face and return to switch on the power. Wait patiently and when you're sure the time is correct switch on the mains power supply. Your clock will now start. 6 Things to remember You will have to manually adjust the clock for time changes or if you suffer a power failure. Please use the instructions above or simply switch the power supply off for the required time. Optional control systems are available to carry out automatic time changes, restarts and even synchronisation with the atomic time signal. If possible it is best to setup and start the clock with somebody on the outside of the building to guide you. Don t forget to ensure that the watch you use to set your clock is correct. 3. Resynchroniser Control Unit Specification The units function is ensure correct time restart after power failures. If mains power is off for more than 10 seconds, the unit becomes operational. After power is restored, the STATUS LED will flash and the unit will complete an internal sequence and restart the clock(s) exactly 12 hours after the initial power failure. Time Changes The unit is pre-programmed with the BST/GMT time changes for 20 years from date of purchase. At 2.00am on the appropriate date, the unit will hold off power to the clock for either one or eleven hours. The BST LED on the control panel is only illuminated when it is in BST mode. Power Requirements A single 230v power supply rated at 5a is required to operate the system. A standard 3-pin power point is suitable. Consumption is approximately 20 units per annum / per clock. Operation of Mechanisms and Controllers Page 6 of 10 Copyright Good Directions Ltd.

4. Master Clock Control Unit Specification The system has been designed to automatically keep the clocks operating and showing the correct time even during power failures. The atomic time signal is detected by the Receiver, this is decoded and passed to a microprocessor incorporated in each unit, checking and carrying out daily adjustments when required. The optional battery backed power supply unit BBPSU ensures the clock(s) continue to operate during power failures. The Antenna receives a signal in the 77Khz band that is broadcast from Germany and encodes full time and date information in a serial format framed at 1 minute per complete time update. Time Changes The annual BST / GMT corrections will occur automatically without the need for manual adjustment. Power Requirements A single 230v power supply rated at 5a is required to operate the system. A standard 3-pin power point is suitable. Consumption is approximately 5 units per annum. 5. CL200, 300, 400, 500 with a Resynchroniser Setting the Hands It is important that the minute and hour hands are synchronised together at the 12 o clock position. Using the pilot dial printed on the brass knurled wheel as a guide rotate slowly until the hands are slightly ahead of actual time. eg. If the real time is 2.15 rotate the wheel 2½ times anticlockwise making the hands approximately If the real time is rotate the wheel 1½ times clockwise making the hands approximately Operation of Mechanisms and Controllers Page 7 of 10 Copyright Good Directions Ltd.

Re-tighten the friction clutch with one hand whilst ensuring the pilot dial does not turn with the other. Replace the back cover and tighten the screws. Starting up the System Connect your mains cable to the movement ensuring firstly that the power is switched OFF and that once you ve inserted the plug into the socket you twist it to its locked position. If you have more than one clock connect each mechanism in a daisy chain formation using the leads provided ensuring each plug clicks and locks into its socket. It is important that the clock mechanism with the built in Resynchroniser is the one with the power supply connect to it. You now have approximately 15 minutes to go outside and check the exact position of the hands in relation to the clock face and return to press the hands correct / start button at the correct time. Switch on the mains power supply. You will now see that the POWER LED is illuminated with the STATUS LED flashing. Wait patiently and when you're sure the time is correct press and hold the START button. The STATUS LED will now stay illuminated and your clock will now start. 6. CL200, 300, 400, 500 with a Master Clock Setting the Hands It is important that the minute and hour hands are synchronised together at the 12 o clock position. Starting up the System Fit the Power supply unit PSU remembering that you have a limited amount of cable from the unit to the first clock. Do not fix the receiver yet. If you have more than one clock connect each mechanism in a daisy chain formation using the leads provided ensuring each plug clicks and locks into its socket. Switch on the mains power supply. Operation of Mechanisms and Controllers Page 8 of 10 Copyright Good Directions Ltd.

You will notice your clocks are moving. Don t panic they are simply running a complete cycle and will return to their datum point of 12 o clock. The LED on the receiver should now start pulsing. Like a TV aerial, reception and position are critical. Take time to move the receiver until the LED clearly pulses every second. Once you have found the optimum position fix the receiver using the adjustable bracket. Under exceptional circumstances the system will pick up the atomic time signal within 5 minutes. However, due to noise pollution from a wide range of sources, this may take longer. In bad reception areas your clocks may not synchronise with the time signal until night time when interference is greatly reduced. Until your clocks are synchronised with the atomic signal they will wait patiently at their 12 o clock datum. 7. Problem Solving Mechanisms Check the power to the mechanism is live Check the fuse in the plug or spur Check all plugs are connected properly and locked into their sockets Check that the hands are not touching each other Check for signs of vandalism Resynchrosnier If the POWER LED is not illuminated you may have a fuse or power supply problem. If the STATUS LED is flashing the clock is in restart mode due to a power failure and will restart at the correct time. Master Clock If your clock or one of your clocks continues to advance past its datum simply unplug the lead from the clock(s) and promptly reconnect. If your clock(s) have stopped check that the LED s on the Power supply unit PSU. The red LED shows if the system has a mains power supply and the green shows if the battery is ok. If neither are lit, then the system has been running for several days without mains power and you may have a fuse or power supply problem. If your clock stays at the 12o clock datum point, you may have to realign your receiver as described in the setup instructions. If this still doesn t solve the problem then a GPS upgrade may be required. Operation of Mechanisms and Controllers Page 9 of 10 Copyright Good Directions Ltd.

If your clock hands are not synchronised with each other at the 12 o clock position or are shown an incorrect time, turn the receiver on its end to block the signal, disconnect and reconnect the power lead going from the PSU to the clock mechanism. The clock will now advance back to its 12 o clock datum point. When the hands stop moving, this is the 12 o clock position. You will now be able to see if the hands need to be adjusted. If so follow the instructions above for setting the hands. Once completed turn the receiver back to it correct postion. 8.
