They are located in safe neighbourhoods that are just 5 20 minutes walk from the College, but which have great transport links into Central London. Minimum booking 12 weeks. Walk 18 Crystal Palace Residence Crystal Palace Summer Residence This residence has a parkland setting inside Crystal Palace Park. It is a 20 minute bus ride to College and just 20 minutes from Central London. All rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV. 9 OXFORD CAMPUS OXFORD Kings Oxford comprises two main campuses, St. Michaels in the heart of the city (plus an annexe in nearby Alfred Street), and St. Josephs in the popular student area of Cowley. Most English programmes are taught at St. Michaels which enjoys a prime location just off the main shopping street, and in close proximity to all of the major university colleges, and transport hubs. St. Josephs campus In the summer, some programmes may be taught at St. Josephs campus in Cowley, which is minutes by bus. Art and Design classes are held here year-round. 12 Wavy Gate Premium Residence This premium residence features spacious single, en suite bedrooms in a modern building. It is located right in the heart of Oxford s vibrant student quarter, with many cafes, shops and restaurants all in the neighbourhood. There are on-site kitchen and laundry facilities, plus a livein warden. Please note: Wavy Gate Residence is available to all students during an extended summer period (June 13 September 12). Year-round it is available as part of a special package price to Diploma of English student. (see page 64 for details). Portfolio development Structure Oxford London 20 lessons of General English (15 hours) 8 lessons with Art teacher (6 hours) At least 6 hours per week of independent work on course projects The Kings art studios The art studios, located at our St. Josephs Campus in Oxford and our main teaching block in London, are light, spacious, dedicated rooms, specially equipped for teaching painting, drawing, and modelling. This is where your lessons with specialist art teachers take place, and where you will come to work on projects in your own time. Here, you can meet other students after classes to share and develop artistic ideas, to do your coursework and to learn new skills. Materials are included as part of the course price. Key information Course length: Minimum 4 weeks (No maximum) Starts: (5 January 7 December) Every MONDAY Minimum age: 16 (average age range 18 30) Maximum class size: 14 Personalised course content The art and design content of the course is determined by the student, and is structured around their experience and interests. The course consists of guided and independent study, depending on the needs of the individual. Lessons: 28 lessons (21 hours) per week: language lessons per week (15 hours) Art and Design lessons per week (6 hours) hours per week of independent work on course projects Minimum entry level: Kings Level 2 (Elementary) The studios are well-equipped for art and design in most fields, including digital photography (Photoshop) and most 3D work is possible, for example in plaster, clay and a broad variety of materials.
