2 An Eventful Week for a Prosperous Future The 18 th National Exhibition of Technological and Research Achievements of Iran The National Achievements Exhibition is held during the National Research and Technology Week, under the Patronage of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The national exhibition identifies and introduces Iran s latest research and technological achievements from different universities, research centers, science and technology parks, incubators, and knowledge-based companies. Iran s National Research and Technology Week Launched in 1980 by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the National Research and Technology Week includes different events and activities designed to: Introduce Iran s research capabilities and its technology centers Open communication channels between stakeholders Provide a collaboration platform between researchers Discuss the commercial applications of the research findings (Technology Market) Accessing Iran s Thriving Knowledge Sectors Held in coordination with the National Achievements Exhibition, Education Technology Iran 2017 is carefully designed from conception to execution to grant international stakeholders access to Iran s rising knowledge sectors: education, research, and technology under one roof. Any amount of investment in education will, compared to the other fields, yield multiple results, since education is the base and fundamental of the whole current and future progresses of the country. 3 Prospective Plans: The Education Reform Iran is determined to change its oil-based economy into a knowledge-based economy, acquiring international expertise and adopting new ways of scientific thinking. The current Iranian government announced more than 500 educational projects in Tehran alone in February 2016, with thousands of ventures across the country planned for years to come. It is not surprising that the country s start-up sector is already attracting serious attention from international technology investors. However, Iranian start-ups are not only in need of capital and investment, but require access to international expertise and new technology across all sectors. Aiming at incorporating new technologies such as information and communication technologies in its schools, Iran also needs an abundance of educational equipment, technology, and services. Specifically, the country s technical-vocational schools and postgraduate infrastructure need international cooperation and intensive investment. Education Technology Iran 2017 Education Technology Iran 2017 (ETI 2017) is the country s first and only international trade exhibition specialized in Education, Research, and Technology. Held in agreement with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, ETI 2017 is collocated with the 18 th National Exhibition of Technological and Research Achievements of Iran, thus providing a platform for international science and education stakeholders to establish partnerships with the Iranian public and private entities participating in the National Achievements Exhibition.

5 Exponential Growth Developing Education Successive Iranian governments have been expanding the higher education sector in the country for the past three decades. Each year, 20% of government spending and 5% of GDP goes to education, a higher rate than most other developing countries. Iran s Science and Research Sectors Despite having an underfunded and under equipped science and research sector, Iran has become the world s top 15th country in science production, up from 20th in 2010 and 47th in The country s exponential growth is only expected to rise further with access to modern research equipment, technology, and knowledge.
