2 2 Rieter. SAIF Textile Mills SAIF GROUP Committed to quality Javed Saifullah Khan, Chairman of the SAIF Group Osman Saifullah Khan, CEO of SAIF Textile Mills Ltd. FAMILY-OWNED SINCE SEVERAL GENERATIONS The family-owned SAIF Group has already been in existence for several generations. Founded by Khan Faizullah Khan in 1920, today s Group is a modern, dynamic enterprise operating in the fields of textiles, cement, power generation, food, telecommunications and information technology. The company employs a workforce of more than and is proud of the continuous development of its core competencies from generation to gene-ration over a period of more than 80 years. The family s goal and vision with its companies has always been to manufacture marketable products of flawless quality. It was therefore a logical consequence for SAIF Textile Mills Ltd. (STM) to play a pioneering role in the production of Rieter s COM4 yarns. With the construction of Mill No. 3, STM has fulfilled the prerequisites for expanding its position in the attractive export market for high-quality yarns. STM is a licensed COM4 yarn manufacturer in Pakistan. With its lead in mill production and serving the export markets, STM has secured itself an excellent stepping stone for the further development of its market share in future. Javed Saifullah Khan, the current Chairman of the SAIF Group, a former Central Chairman of APTMA 1, was the founder and first CEO of SAIF Textile Mills Ltd. Osman Saifullah Khan is the CEO of the SAIF Group and he has headed the textile division since He graduated with a masters degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Christ Church, the University of Oxford. RIETER PREFERRED PARTNER FOR PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION The personnel responsible for the new project at STM were already able to assure themselves of the high reliability of Rieter spinning machines in the evaluation phase. The consistency of the yarn quality values over long production periods and the outstanding properties of the COM4 yarns finally resulted in the decision to invest in a complete spinning mill for COM4 yarns. Rieter s excellent brand image has provided decisive support in developing the market for the new yarns. It was also quickly decided to set up a new spinning mill with a complete spinning system from Rieter, which offers the following advantages: Coordinated process stages Comprehensive technology Clear responsibility for the entire process Experience in downstream processing of COM4 yarns 1 All Pakistan Textile Mills Association
3 Rieter. SAIF Textile Mills 3 SAIF TEXTILE MILLS LTD. Yarn Product Range of SAIF PRODUCTION AT SAIF TEXTILE MILLS LTD (STM) SAIF Textile Mills Ltd. processes some tons of raw material per month into high-quality yarns on a total of ring spinning spindles. As a certified user, STM uses some 150 tons/ month of Supima cotton from the US and tons of Giza cotton from Egypt. 80% of its output is combed, and the remainder, including manmade fiber yarns, is carded. 80% of this output is intended for downstream processing in weaving and knitting mills in the local market, 20% for export to the European and Asian markets. The mills employ a workforce of some in continuous, round-the-clock operation, 7 days a week. SAIF S COM4 YARNS FOR THE EXPORT MARKET SAIF Textile Mills, Unit No. 3, is the second mill in Pakistan operating ComforSpin K44 spinning machines for the manufacturing of Compact Yarn. A total of Rieter COM4 spindles have been installed since These have been producing COM4 yarns in the Ne 40 to Ne 180 yarn count range from 100% combed cotton. All of these yarns are exported and supplied to the demanding European markets for the shirting and garment sector and other high-value items. The remaining ring-spun yarns of the other two units are used mainly in home textiles in the Ne yarn count range. Additionally STM produces yarns in the Ne coarse count range as single and doubled yarn for the toweling industry and also fancy yarns.
4 4 Rieter. SAIF Textile Mills OPENING, BLENDING AND CARDING Top results in fiber preparation GENTLE OPENING AND CLEANING FOR PERFECT CARDING Using SUPIMA and GIZA cotton with fiber lengths of 32 to 36 mm, 4,2 to 4,5 Micronaire and tenacity of 38 to 42 cn/tex calls for maximum care during fiber processing on the blowroom machines in order to ensure optimum preconditions for the required high yarn qualities. The basis for fiber-conserving in the Rieter blowroom line starts with the bale opener UNIfloc A 11 for economical and flexible processing of the cotton assortments. With a laydown length of 22,2 m on both sides of the take-off unit, up to 68 bales are available for uniform blending. Gentle opening into very small tufts produces an ideally prepared tuft material with a large surface area. Impurities can thus be removed reliably and with minimum fiber loss. The fibrous material then passes through the succeeding, perfectly coordinated stages of the blowroom line; pre-cleaning with the UNIclean B 11, blending with the UNImix B 70 and fine cleaning with the UNIflex B 60. Cleaning intensity and optimum waste removal are individually adjusted at each stage of cleaning by means of VarioSet. In the blowroom the Vision Shield continuously monitors material flow and reliably removes foreign matter. The production systems are protected and the ultimate buyer receives a flawless yarn quality for problem-free downstream processing. All C 51 Hi-Per-Cards are equipped with IGS classic and supply carded slivers largely free of neps and impurities. The prerequisite for a perfect yarn! 5 Rieter. SAIF Textile Mills 5 COMBING AND DRAWING Improve your quality HIGHEST PRODUCTIVITY IN COMBING AND DRAWING It is essential to minimize the short fiber content of the yarn for fine-count yarns used in clothing applications. The Rieter combing process has for many years offered the ideal conditions for high efficiency and productivity. The SB-D 15 drawframe acts as the pre-drawframe for the preparation of the slivers for lap formation on the UNIlap E 32. With lap weights of up to 25 kg and a homogeneous structure, the laps produced by the UNIlap system provide extremely good preconditions for subsequent processing on the comber. Production speeds of up to m/min on the drawframe and up to 140 m/min on the UNIlap enable high output volumes to be achieved. This has a positive influence on space requirements and machine operation. The SERVOtrolley lap transport system offers the best possible conditions for gentle, efficient transport of the laps from the UNIlap to the comber. The Rieter E 65 combers, with up to 450 nips per minute, operate like clockwork with very high precision and extract the required proportion of short fibers consistently and reliably. The combed sliver produced in this way is of an unrivaled quality standard and is subsequently leveled on the RSB-D 30 autoleveller drawframe and carefully coiled in cans. 6 6 Rieter. SAIF Textile Mills K 44 COMPACT SPINNING COM4 yarn top compact yarn quality COM4 YARNS FULFILL THE HIGHEST STANDARDS As a pioneering company, it was an obvious move for STM to participate as quickly as possible in the latest development for compact yarns. Rieter s offer of manufacturing COM4 yarns for a demanding market segment with the new K 44 ComforSpin machine fitted very well into STM s strategy. The K 44 ComforSpin machine is based on the proven G 33 model. The unique approach of compacting fibers in the drafting system with a perforated drum offers crucial advantages in production and fiber guidance. Yarns with low hairiness, very high tenacity and very high quality consistency are the result. BENEFITS FOR SUBSEQUENT PROCESSING Low hairiness and high strength of COM4 yarns lead to the following advantages in weaving: Low level of yarn breaks during warping, sizing and weaving, a high efficiency of the production machinery is achieved Cost reduction for sizing and desizing Clear structure of patterns especially with dyed yarns In knitting the uniform yarn appearance results in a clear structure of the knitted fabric and a reduced pilling tendency. Due to the smooth surface of the yarn, yarn waxing can be eliminated. A striking increase in productivity of the knitting machines results from reduced fiber fly, requiring less cleaning, and fewer interventions for rectifying yarn breaks. After finishing and printing a clear print structure results. Costs are reduced by the possibility to eliminate singeing and by the fact that less dye material is required for the same color intensity, because the compact yarn structure of COM4 yarns influence the luster of the fabric. COM4 YARNS ARE WIDELY ESTABLISHED Rieter COM4 yarns are established in the marketplace and widely used. STM s decisions are based on these considerations and the company has confidence in the COM4 yarn brand that is well known on the market. STM s customers have the assurance that they receive only high-quality COM4 yarns; a strong argument for STM. STM exports it s COM4 yarns made on Savio winders on packages which are ready for dyeing.
