2 Crowdfunding 101: Rocking Your Campaign Pick Your Platform The very first step is to choose your crowdfunding site. Consider what sort of charactistics would best match your members and your campus. What will most effectivelly allow your donor base to get involved? Because there are literally dozens of sites, we ve pulled some descriptions of our favorites so that you can decide which is the best of the best. Build Your Voice It s time to share your story. Aside from the basic details about Timmy, what information are you going to include? How are you going to tell it? The more personal, the better! Your story can include anything from a special relationship with a patient or a background of what makes you a Timmy. Pictures, videos, and significant moments for the win! Be Studious Crowdfunding sites like Kickstart and IndieGoGo do not take pages down once they have completed. That means their successes and failures are still available for you to view. Spend some time studying what strategies really, really worked, and which ones really, really did not. Check out what non-profs in your area and university have done! Plan Before Launching The majority of your efforts should happen before you ever make your fundraiser public. You should establish your goal, your timeline, your marketing strategy, and your story. Additionally, reach out to close supporters and let them know your plans so that they are ready to go; Others will be more likely to join if they see that some have already donated! Market Your Story You ve got your page ready to launch. The story is compelling, your goal is set, and your chapter is excited. How are you going to show this page to the world? Sharing on social media is great, but what else? Consider editing profile pictures, cover photos, and signatures to promote your campaign and take your online (free) marketing one step further. Love Your Donors Stay engaged with your donors throughout the fundraising process. Post videos reiterating your cause and your gratitude. Take it a step further and reward them with clever videos or pictures as you reach certain milestones. Don t forget to thank supporters as they donate! Step 4. Set a goal. Step 5. Preview your page. Step 6. Upload a photo to make your page complete. Step 7. Encourage members to make individual pages. Select your university as the team! SeeYourImpact has been the most successful fundaising site for Timmies, utilized by IU, Notre Dame, Butler, and Clark. Step 3: Tailor your page to your chapter, your goals, and your stories. Step 4: Encourage members to begin fundraising via your campaign. Step 5: Reach out and encourage people to Give & Get. Aside from the standard credit card fee of 2.9% + 30 cents of each donation, Crowdvance is absolutely free. That means no extras lost from your donations! Crowdvance encourages donations by offering rewards (coupons or gift cards throught top brands) to supporters. Once your campaign has started, members can either create team or individual pages.
