Cover with sheet to prevent this. Most accidents occur on short trips, so do not be tempted to avoid using the seat simply because you are not travelling very far. Do not leave the child in the seat for long periods of time. Take regular breaks on long journeys. Set a good example by always wearing a seatbelt yourself. Make sure that your child never plays with the buckle. WRNING: Failure to follow each of the following instructions can result in your child striking the vehicle s interior during a sudden stop or crash. 4 5 Car seat belt The product must only be used with a 3-point car seat belt that has been approved to ECE R16 or equivalent. NEVER use a 2-point seatbelt. Your child seat can be fitted in most cars. However, some cars are designed so that proper installation is not possible. Research shows that correct installation is the most important factor in car seat safety. Please take the time to read the instruction manual carefully. Our product offers maximum protection when it is used in accordance with the instructions. If you have any questions concerning the use of the product please do not hesitate to contact us. This child seat is designed for use for children whose weight is 13kg or less and whose heights are 66cm (26 inches) or less. This child seat must only be used rear facing position, and must NEVER be used forward facing. For maximum protection, the centre rear seat position is recommended as the safest position in most vehicles for installing a child restraint. (Only if the vehicle seat is fitted with a 3-point adult belt). Your child seat should not be purchased or sold as a second hand item. Remove child out of the car as first priority in an accident. While travelling it is recommended that any luggage or other objects liable to cause injuries in the event of a collision shall be properly secured. Do not use your child seat on a vehicle seat with lap belts only. Your child seat should be securely belted to the vehicle, even when unoccupied because in a crash an unsecured child seat may injure other passengers. Please take a rest every two hours if you are travelling with a baby in the car seat. Please check the car seat condition if you are going to travel a long distance with a child. Please put all excess luggage into the boot of your car if you are going to travel with a baby, because loose items may hurt a baby when travelling on unstable roads or because they move suddenly when braking. Please always check the car seat before you place a baby into it. Please get in touch with the dealer if anything breaks on the car seat. Only the manufacturer or an authorised agent may do repairs. DO NOT try and fix the car seat by yourself. It might be damaged or cause more damage. lways check the buckle hole before you buckle up as it may contain crumbs or obstructions that prevent a secure lock. Keep your car seat out of reach of children when not in use. Please keep the plastic packaging bag out of the reach of children when unpacking the car seat. NEVER place the car seat on a seat where an air bag is active. Do not modify the car seat. Page 4

7 irbag warning 8 Parts checklist! Extreme Danger! Do not use a rear facing car seat on a front passenger seat where an active passenger side air bag is fitted. The air bag inflates rapidly and can throw a rear-facing child seat into the back of a passenger seat with great force, which can injure or kill a child. Carry handle Handle adjustment Belt hook Shoulder strap Shoulder pads Head hugger Crotch pad Harness adjuster Note: This product does not come with an insert cushion. It is recommended that an insert cushion is used for very small babies. Page 5

9 Handle adjustment Face the seat: push the red button each side of the handle, rotate and release the red button to desired position until you hear a click. There are three positions available:- B () carrying/fitting position, make sure handle is locked. (B) Rocker - keep away from the edge of surfaces e.g. tables. (C) Feeding position. C NEVER place the car seat on a soft surface e.g. cushion, mattress, pillow etc, due to risk of suffocation if car seat tips over. Never leave a child unattended. 10 Removing the head hugger To remove the head hugger, undo the harness and remove the chest pads by sliding them down the harness. Thread the harness straps through the button holes at the base of the head hugger from front to back and remove. Replace chest pads if required and fasten harness. To fit the head hugger, undo the harness and remove the chest pads, thread the harness straps through the head hugger button holes from the back to the front, replace chest pads and fasten harness. Page 6

11 Harness adjustment B C This car seat has 2 sets of slots. Select the most suitable slots according to the child s weight. () Newborn to 10kg approximately. (B)10kg to 13kg approximately. The shoulder harness straps should emerge from the backrest level with (or slightly above) the child s shoulders. To change the harness strap position, undo the harness straps and remove chest pad by sliding it down the shoulder strap. Pull the straps through the belt slots (C) in the back of the car seat and re-thread them through the desired slots. NOTE: make sure the harness straps are set at equal heights before using the car seat. 12 Positioning the car seat WRNING: DO NOT fit the car seat on a front passenger seat () if an active air bag is fitted. This seat can only be used if there is no airbag or if the airbag has been deactivated. Only fit the car seat using a 3 point seat belt. Page 7

12 Positioning the car seat (cont) The child seat must not touch the front passenger seat and should be level 13 Installing the car seat Choose a seat suitable for fitting the car seat to. See step 12 Positioning the car seat. Pull the seat belt straps so there is a lot of slack allowing you to wrap it around the car seat. This will make it easier to thread through the correct mounting points Page 8

13 Installing the car seat (cont) Fit the lap belt across the car seat by sliding the belt under the seat belt guide slots () on both sides of the car seat. Buckle up the car seat belt (B). B click Take the shoulder belt around the back of the car seat and attach it into the rear seat belt guide (). Make sure all the slack is taken out of the car seat belt. Once the seat belts are in their correct mounting points make sure the seat belt buckle is secure and there are no twists in the belt. NOTE: pull front to back and left to right to check for secure installation. NOTE: vehicle MUST be on level ground and child seated when levelling. Page 9

13 Installing the car seat (cont) The car seatbelt buckle must be lower than the top edge of the car seat. If the vehicle seatbelt buckle is above the top edge of the child seat then this car seat is not suitable for the vehicle. This is called buckle crunch. It means the seatbelt tongue (the part that slots into the buckle) can bend over the top edge of the child seat. This can cause the vehicle seat belt to come undone in an accident. 14 Fitting the harness Press the belt adjuster button and pull on the shoulder harness straps to create slack. DO NOT pull on the shoulder pads as these may be fixed. Page 10

14 Fitting the harness (cont) Unbuckle the harness and move the shoulder straps apart. click Place the child in the seat and ensure there are no spaces under the child. Note: a new born baby may need extra support around the head and body. The child seat comes with a head hugger, but you may need to purchase an insert cushion if you are going to use it for a newborn or small baby less than 7 months old. Place the shoulder harness over the shoulders. Note: do not place your child in a sleeping bag, blanket or other bulky wrapping before putting the child in the restraint. The shoulder straps will not fit snugly and the child will not be safe. Buckle up the harness. Connect the two shoulder strap connectors () and insert into the buckle (B) Ensure harness buckle is firmly clicked into place. B click Page 11

14 Fitting the harness (cont) Pull the harness adjuster strap to secure the harness around the child. 1cm The harness should allow 1 finger-width (1cm) of space at the top of the shoulders. This is the ideal tightness. Note: check that the buckle is secured by attempting to pull the above and below part to remove the connectors. To release harness: Press the red button (B) on the buckle and pull out the shoulder harness. B click Page 12

15 Removing the car seat Press the red release button on buckle (B), unfasten the shoulder strap connectors (). B click Lift up the harness straps and lay them on the back or sides of the child seat. Take your child out of the child seat. Unbuckle the vehicle seat belt. click Pull out the vehicle seat belt through the seat belt hooks in the child seat. Remove the child seat from the vehicle. Page 13

16 ttaching the seat to the Jig chassis Note: The car seat can only be fitted parent facing. Hold the car seat so that it is facing the stroller handle.
