5 First Aid Courses First Aid Courses Our First Aid courses are awarded by Qualsafe. Qualsafe Awards is an Ofqual recognised Awarding Organisation, established by experts in the first aid training industry. First Aid at Work Level 3 (QCF) This 18 hour course is designed for people who have a specific responsibility to provide First Aid in the work place and has volunteered or been nominated to fulfil the statutory duty of care as laid down by the HSE(First Aid) regulations On completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate of achievement in Level 3 First Aid at Work valid for 3 years awarded by Qualsafe. 3 days Cost: per person First Aid at Work Annual Refresher Level 2 This course is designed for qualified first aiders who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation, who need to refresh their skills as recommended by the HSE. 1/2 day Cost: per person > Visit blackburn.ac.uk 5

7 First Aid at Work Requalification Level 3 (QCF) This course is essential for those holding a three-year First Aid certificate nearing expiry. Delegates will be accepted on the course within the last 3 months validity of their current certificate. Please note certificates must be produced as evidence on commencement of the course. First Aid Courses 2 days Cost: per person Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 (QCF) This course is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation. It is aimed at existing Health & Safety Managers, Health & Safety Representatives, anybody with an IOSH qualification who wants to progress further or those who want to manage risks effectively. 11 Health & Safety & Risk Assessment This module develops students awareness of the principles of health and safety planning and implementation in an industrial environment. It also introduces the concept of risk assessment of any potential hazards. 1 week Cost: per person Health & Safety Courses Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (QCF) The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to use an AED when dealing with an emergency situation. The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). It provides a foundation of fire safety knowledge on which employers and responsible persons could build. Display Screen Equipment and Workstation Health and Safety The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, as amended by the Health and Safety Miscellaneous Amendments Regulations 2002 places significant responsibilities upon employers for the health and safety of their staff. 16 E-learning Courses Manual Handling in the Workplace This is a manual handling course that is applicable to anyone who may need to lift items as part of their duties. The information is applicable to any workplace environment. Back injury is the main reason for absence from the workplace and one third of all reported injuries that result in three days off work are caused by manual handling accidents. Employers are required by law to take reasonable steps to safeguard the health and safety of all employees, one of which is increasing awareness about the hazards related to manual handling, and outlining what can be done to minimise risk. This online Manual Handling module provides learners with the knowledge they need in order to reduce the chance of incurring an injury whilst manually handling loads in their work environment. Cost: per person Personal Safety for Lone Workers This module is designed for anybody who has to work alone or who is left alone with customers or other members of the public at some time in their working day. 17 Risk Assessment The course is for any employees who have a responsibility for undertaking risk assessments on their organisation s premises for activities. All managers or supervisors are responsible for safety in their offices. A key method of ensuring safety is to undertake risk assessments of work environments and activities, this module outlines the process involved in doing so. On completion of the module, learners will be aware of why risk assessments are important, know the definitions of hazards and risks, and know the seven key steps to risk assessment.
