1 The School of International Education, Sanda University The Chinese Language Programs Shanghai Sanda University is a full-time private university founded by professors from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Peking University and Tsinghua University in June 1992 under the background of Pudong development. In March 2002, officially approved by the Ministry of Education, it began to provide full-time four-year undergraduate programs under the name Shanghai Sanda College (hereinafter referred to as Sanda, or the University). In Aug. 2005, Sanda was listed as a bachelor's degree accreditation institute by the Academic Degrees Accreditation Committee of Shanghai Municipal Government. In Apr. 2012, it was listed as Shanghai Model Private University Candidate by Shanghai Education Commission. The University has two campuses, one in the Pudong District of Shanghai and the other in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, with a total area of 808 Mu (about 133 acres) and a building area of 295,700 square meters. Sanda has teaching equipment worth million, 1037,400 paper books, 1400,000 electronic books and 5037 electronic publications. Currently there are 510 full-time teachers, including 71 with senior titles, 117 with associate senior titles and 347 doctors and masters. Sanda has a total enrollment of 11,953 students, of whom are undergraduates, making up 89.37% of the total. Sanda has 15 schools: School of International Education, Shengxiang School of Business, School of Management, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities, School of International Medical Technology, School of General Education, Guangbiao School at Jiashan, School of Hudong Polytechnic, School of Fashion and Design, and School of Continuing Education, covering 8 fields of Economics, Law, Literature, Science, Engineering, Medical Science, Management, and Arts, offering 30 undergraduate programs. Note Note 1 a) Students may the Application Form, the scanned passport, and the scanned academic certificate to sie@sandau.edu.cn to apply for the long-term or short-term programs, or send the materials directly to the school office. b) 2-3 weeks after receiving the application form and application fee, Sanda University will issue the Visa Application Form (JW 202 Form) and the Acceptance Letter to the qualified students according to the address offered on Application Letter. c) If students transfer the application fee or the tuition fee from the bank, please fax the remittance slip or money order to , or scan it and it to sie@sandau.edu.cn so that we can check the money in the bank with the remittance slip or money order you provided. The tuition fee (RMB cash) can also be paid after the students arrive at school. Note 2 a) With the Visa Application Form (JW 202 Form), Acceptance Letter, Passport, Photos, Health Certificate (issued by the registered hospital in the student's home country), etc., students may apply for X1 Student Visa (study in China more than 180 days) or X2 Student Visa (study in China less than 180 days) to Chinese embassy or consulates in student s home country. About visa, different countries may have different requirements, so please ask for help from China embassy or consulates in your own country. b) For short-term program, students will be responsible for their own visas and may apply for 60-day or 90-day Tourist Visa (L Visa) to come to China. Sanda University will not issue the Visa Application Form (JW 202 Form) or Acceptance Letter. Students who need it please to sie@sandau.edu.cn, we will send the scanned copy to you. Note 3 a) Students can apply for the dormitories on campus. The University will arrange it for you if there are spare ones. Students can also rent rooms outside campus on your own. Total room fee for one semester (about 120 days) should be paid all at once. b) X-visa holders must apply for residence permit within 30 days upon arrival. Validity of the Residence Permit (for study) depends on how long the students will study in China and how much the students pay the tuition fee. Generally speaking, at the beginning of the semester, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation (IECO) will help the students to apply the Residence Permit after the tuition fees have been paid. The required documents are: passport with at least 6 months validity left before expiration and at least one blank page left in it; one photo (passport size); a copy of the Registration Form of Temporary Residence (student who lives off campus should apply for it in the local police station near his lodging.); Health Certificate; JW202 Form; Acceptance Letter; Application Form for Visa and Residence Permit; School Letter (provided by Sanda University after full tuition payment). Students who cannot register on time should apply to SIE; otherwise, their registration qualification will be

8 cancelled and Residence Permit cannot be made. c) Fresh international students must do Health Examination. Normally, Sanda University will arrange it for students only one time after the registration in each semester. Those who have got the Health Certificate in their home countries must go to the registered hospital and do the verification after entering China. The required documents that should be submitted to the hospital for Health Examination are: passport, copy of passport, copy of Acceptance Letter (or Student's ID card), four photos (3cm*4cm), original papers of blood-test and Health Certificate obtained abroad (for verification).
