2 Growing the Rockhampton Region The Rockhampton Region is admired for its strength, resilience and ability to embrace change. It is a region that our Community values and others admire, and is one of the most liveable communities in the world. Rockhampton Regional Council invites expressions of interest (EOI) from experienced and professional aquatic facility operators to manage Council s four (4) aquatic facilities, and Restaurant / Cafe. Gracemere Swimming Pool Mt Morgan Swimming Pool 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool World War II Memorial Complex World War II Restaurant / Cafe Rockhampton Region The Rockhampton Region is located on the Tropic of Capricorn in Central Queensland and is the gateway to the coast and the outback. Our Region includes a well diversified economy with strengths in retail, health and community services, education, primary production, tourism and manufacturing. Approximately 87,000 residents reside within the Rockhampton Region, with a further 30,000 in the outer lying localities. The four (4) aquatic facilities will be available from varying points of time in 2014 for periods to be negotiated and agreed. 2
3 Gracemere Swimming Pool The Gracemere Swimming Pool is located at Cedric Archer Park Sport and Recreation Precinct (Fisher Street). The land parcel and facility is owned by Education Queensland, with public and community use and access available outside of school hours, through agreement between Council and Education Queensland. Features include: 8 Lane x 25m pool, 10.5m wide with varying depth 0.9m to 2.4m; 22m2 shaded wading pool 0.5m deep; Heated indoor Learn to Swim Pool; Kiosk; and Amenities including male and female toilets, showers and change-rooms. 4 Mount Morgan Swimming Pool The Mount Morgan Swimming Pool is located at Boyd Park, Mount Morgan (36 Thompson Avenue), which also houses a skate park, squash courts and children s playground. Features include: A 6 lane x 30m Pool, 10m width with varying depth from 1m to 1.8m; Recently constructed beach-style entry on approx 90m 2 wading pool with varying depth 0m to 0.6m; Grandstand seating and recently renovated amenities block; and Enclosed Learn to Swim Program / Pool, currently non-operational. 5 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool The 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool is located in North Rockhampton ( Berserker Street) in a recreation precinct in close proximity to schools. Formerly operating as the Rock Pool Water Park, the 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool is Council s recreational aquatic destination and provides a number of leisure / water play and other amusement elements at the facility. While these are currently non-operational they provided a unique experience to residents. Council is keen to see this facility operating at its full capacity. Features include: 120m2 children s wading pool varying depth from 0.3m to 0.6m; 8 lane 50m pool measuring 17.5m wide varying depth from 1m to 2.1m; Casual seating areas; Kiosk; Male and Female toilet and change amenities; All access toilet with shower and change area; Barbeque Areas; and Additional leisure / water play equipment currently non-operational. 6 World War II Memorial Complex The World War II Memorial Complex is located in South Rockhampton (1a Lion Creek Road, Wandal) and is within Council s major sport and recreation precint. Adjacent to the popular Victoria Park and Huish Drive; an ever popular family destination, the World War II Memorial Complex provides opportunities for a broad range of aquatic and swimming activities for all ages and abilities. The World War II Memorial Complex is currently undergoing a $17 million re-development jointly funded by the Council, and State and Federal Government. This is a landmark development and once completed will offer a unique experience to the community. The World War II Memorial Complex features include: 10 Lane x 50m heated FINA compliant competition swimming pool with moveable bulkhead and Colorado timing and Scoring System; only FINA compliant competition pool outside the South East Corner of Queensland. New impressive tensioned fabric shade structure over the 50m pool with a 650 seat capacity grandstand, timing control room and under croft secure storage. New 8 lane 25m heated pool, wet play area, enclosed heated learn to swim / program pool and new amenities. 7 Restaurant / Cafe Opportunity The Restaurant / Cafe` will be located near the new main public entrance to the World War II Memorial Complex, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced restaurant/cafe` operator to establish a new enterprise. The location provides a northern aspect to the site with a 270 degree frontage, overlooks the Fitzroy River and is on the main river bank pedestrian link between Victoria Park and the CBD precinct. Offered as a bare shell, the area is supported by generous indoor and outdoor seating areas, and has been architecturally designed to accommodate the region s climate.
