2 Dear Parent or Guardian: SCOPE Education Services, in cooperation with the Hauppauge School District, is once again offering an exciting Saturday Enrichment Program for elementary school students. We are delighted to be able to offer this program to your children in the hope of providing them with enriching ways to expand their learning while having fun. The program will be held on five Saturday mornings. The dates are: January 23, 30, February 6, 27 and March 5, The courses will run from 9:00a.m. 10:30a.m. and 10:30a.m. - 12:00p.m. Please complete the attached registration form or register online by Friday, January 8, Again, we are pleased to be able to offer this program and we hope that it will enhance your child s learning experience. 3 SCOPE Saturday Enrichment Program at Hauppauge s Bretton Woods Elementary School Registration Information 1. Select any courses in which you would like to enroll your child. Course enrollments have limits and, therefore, will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to accommodate all selections. 2. Total your course fees and enclose a check or money order payable to SCOPE. Credit cards are also accepted. Each course is $ Please fill out all information on the registration form. Return the completed registration form and full payment by Friday, January 8, 2016 to: SCOPE Saturday Enrichment Program at Hauppauge 100 Lawrence Avenue Smithtown, NY Or register online at Go to Child/Student Services. Under subheading School Year Enrichment Programs, click on Hauppauge Saturday Enrichment Program. 4. There will be a $25.00 fee for any returned checks or declined credit cards. 5. Confirmations and Emergency/Health forms will be ed before the start of the program. Please contact SCOPE if you do not receive an ed confirmation. It is the parent s responsibility to see that their child is present on the first day of class. No credit/refund will be given. 6. Course fees will not be refundable after Friday, January 15, Refunds issued prior to January 15 th will incur a $10.00 processing fee. 7. The Saturday Enrichment Program will be held at Bretton Woods Elementary School. 8. Parents are responsible for their child s transportation to and from the program. 9. Children enrolled in both sessions may bring a snack. 10. For additional information, please call ext 148 or 11. SCOPE requires a minimum enrollment to be met in order to run the program.

4 ENRICHMENT COURSES Session 1: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Session 2: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. MAKING IT POP! POP-UP PAPER DESIGN FOR KIDS Students will study the art of storytelling and structural engineering with their own illustrations. During this course students will study how to create basic pop-up paper designs with various art media such as painting, drawing, and collage. Course #7 - Session 2 - Grades 3-5 ART IN YOUR HEART Put a little art in your heart for a few extra weeks. This class is designed to increase your child s love for the Arts. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with various mediums and art techniques while giving them the chance to be creative and expressive in a relaxed and inspirational environment. Course #1 - Session 1 - Grades 3-5 Course #2 - Session 2 - Grades K-2 LEARNING WITH LEGOS How creative can you be with 72 LEGOS? In this class, students will be provided with an assortment of 72 LEGO bricks to explore, create and problem solve. Activity areas will include literacy, math, science, social studies, design and technology. Bring your imagination and get ready for some hands-on learning! Course #6 - Session 2 - Grades K-2 DON T SIT, BE FIT! Take a break from TVs and ipads! Come join us as we explore the joy of fitness in a fun and healthy environment. Students will be engaged in a variety of physical and educational activities. These activities will include learning the components of fitness, the importance of being physically fit, exercise safety, and making healthy choices in terms of food and nutrition. Course #3 - Session 1 - Grades K-2 Course #4 - Session 2 - Grades 3-5 JUNIOR MAD SCIENTIST Did you ever wonder WHY????? That makes you a scientist! Come join us on Saturday mornings for hands-on science experiments. Come make slime, blobs in water, a color symphony, your own Rock Candy and so much more! Course #5 - Session 1 - Grades K-2 MAKING MATH EASIER! Are you having trouble in Math because you just can t seem to memorize those multiplication tables? Then this is the course for you. Join us on Saturday mornings to learn some easy rhymes and quick tricks to memorizing those multiplication facts! You will be multiplying and dividing with ease in no time! Course #8 - Session 2 - Grades 3-5

5 READ A BOOK & COOK Have you ever wanted to create food out of your favorite books? That is exactly what you ll be doing in Read a Book and Cook! We will read a book and then cook something delicious to go with our story. Have you ever read If You Give a Pig a Pancake and wanted to make your own pancakes? Well now you can! During our classes we will be reading all types of books and creating tasty treats! Course #9 - Session 2 - Grades K-2 READERS THEATRE & BEYOND Are you a budding actor? Perhaps you are just uncomfortable speaking or reading in front of others? Or... maybe you just like to play pretend. Come to a Readers Theatre Workshop and do an authentic reading of a play in character! In addition, choose a monologue or dialogue. You may do as much or as little as you wish. Course #10 - Session 1 - Grades 3-5 Course #11 - Session 2 - Grades K-2 SO MANY BOOKS, SO LITTLE TIME Through the joy of reading, books help students unlock their imaginations and reach their full potential. This course is designed to encourage children to get lost in a good book. We will engage in a variety of children s books and create fun, imaginative projects based on the characters and events we learn about in the stories we read. Course #12 - Session 1 - Grades K-2 Course #13 - Session 2 - Grades 3-5 SUPER SCIENTISTS! Have you ever dreamed about being a Mad Scientist? Super Scientists are all about creating science experiments and being hands on. Want to create a volcano, and turn liquids into a solid? We will do just that. Super Scientists make science fun! Course #14 - Session 1 - Grades 3-5 VAMOS TEATRO!/LET S GO THEATRE! In this course students will learn Spanish through musical theatre! Using fairytales, students will create skits motivating them to use basic nouns and verbs and sentence structure in the targeted language. They will apply conversational Spanish through songs and movement that they learn to include in their skits. Students will have authentic opportunities to speak to one another in Spanish. Vamos Teatro! Course #16 - Session 1 - Grades 3-5 UNO, DOS, TRES: SPANISH BASIC Hola! Join us as we learn the basics of Spanish. We will focus on colors, numbers, days of the week, months and the alphabet. In addition, some basic greetings, common expressions/phrases and questions will also be covered. Children will learn through pictures, songs, games & skits. Course #15 - Session 1 - Grades K-2
