2 What is the Rocky Mountain Rally It s one of the 6 rounds of the Canadian Rally Championship. Round 1 Rallye Perce-Neige (QC) Round 2 Rallye Baie Des Chaleurs (QC) Round 3 Rallye Defi (QC) Round 4 Pacific Forest Rally (BC) Round 5 Rocky Mountain Rally (BC) Round 6 Rally of the Tall Pines (ON) It s televised in Canada and Europe Its has significant followers on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube It attracts competitors from across Canada and USA It is sanctioned by the Canadian motorsports governing body (Canadian Association of Rallysport (C.A.R.S.)) Is sanctioned by ASN Canada and FIA Rules It holds third party liability insurance cover of $5,000,000. It is organised and run totally by volunteers (200+).
3 What is a Performance Rally It is a competition over closed sections of rural roads known as Special Stages These are different than most car races in that: Competitors race one car at a time against the clock Competitors start the special stages at one-minute intervals. Events are made up of a number of special stages linked together with road sections on the public highway where competitors are required to follow all traffic regulation Each car has a driver and a co-driver (also called a navigator ). All cars must comply with minimum safety standards and are safety checked prior to and during the rally to ensure that they comply. - These are stipulated by the governing body C.A.R.S. and sanctioned by ASN Canada and the F.I.A. All cars are required to comply with current road legislation. Registration and Insurance documents are checked prior to the rally.
