2 Branding Text The below fields are requested to be completed. Each field input should not exceed 32 characters. Project Name: A custom name for the project. This is used for tracking the project on dellyourid.com. It will not appear on any BIOS splash screen. This is a required field. Product Name: The model name that the Identity Module will apply to the system. This will be seen in the splash screens and also internal SMBIOS tables. Manufacturer Name: The manufacturer/company name the Identity Module will apply to the system. This will be seen in the splash screens and also internal SMBIOS tables. Contact URL: (Requested for some platforms). This is the company URL of the manufacturer. This will be displayed in the splash screen for only some platforms. 3 SLP Option This allows the customer to specify the OS activation setting they would like to use for their platform. The choices are: No SLP: The customer does not plan on installing Windows on the system. OR the customer plans on installing a version of Windows that does not use SLP-based activation. Eg: Win8 or later. Custom SLP: The customer plans on installing their own SLP. They would have to provide the SLP string or binary files via the dellyourid.com website. For Win8 or later, the customer doesn t need an SLP for Windows OS activation. So they should choose No SLP. Dell Embedded OS SLP: Dell will install the SLP for Embedded Windows. This will help activate any version of Windows OS supported by the system, which needs SLP for activation. 3 ENG Client Logo Requirements Dell Inc., 2016

4 Overview of Splash Screen The OEM/Dell Client BIOS logo will be placed in the same area as for the Dell logo on the BIOS splash screen. The logo image will be centered in the pre defined region of the splash screen and this region is reserved for BIOS as follows: 40% of the screen width (centered of the screen) 40% of the screen height 20% below the top of the screen (logo centered 38.2% below the top of the screen) The space reserved for the OS is the lowest 40% of the screen. 5 File Format and Recommendations The following requirements are for the custom logo image: Format: Uncompressed BMP Maximum file size: 120KBytes Max image width: 640px Max image height: 480px Maximum bit depth: 256 colors It is recommended to have a black background so that the outline of the splash image is not discernible from the background BIOS splash screen. Even though the maximum allowed colors is 256 (8 bits per pixel), it is recommended to have fewer. Mathematically, if an image is 640X480 pixels and 256 colors, then when saved as a bitmap it is larger than 120KBytes. Please look at the following options to help reduce the file size: 1) Make the image smaller than 640X480 pixels. This might cause blurring when it is stretched to be 40% of the BIOS splash screen. (The Important Notes section discusses some of the issues seen when an image is made to fit different display resolutions and aspect ratios.) 2) Use an image that is grayscale or has very few colors. If a monochrome version (with a black background) of your company s logo is available, that is the best choice for the BIOS splash screen. 3) Trim out any black background from the edges of the image. Since the BIOS background screen is black, these areas will be automatically rendered black. The provided image doesn t have to be exactly 640X480 pixels. It could be 640X250 pixels (say) if the trimming is on the top and bottom, OR 400X480 pixels (say) if the trimming is on the sides. The BIOS will not disproportionately stretch a trimmed image. 6 Important Notes Image Adjusted The Dell Client BIOS splash screen designed for a 4:3 ratio screen. Any logo designed for different aspect ratio will appear stretched vertically or horizontally. Image Enlarged If the logo delivered is much smaller than 640X480, it will appear enlarged in order to fill the gap. If delivering a smaller image, do note that the enlarged version might appear blurry or aliased at the edges. 6 ENG Client Logo Requirements Dell Inc., 2016
