1 COOKING COMPETITION We are looking forward to this year's cooking competition. You can use old family recipes or new and imaginative ones. You may your entry and recipe to include everything from the original form into the recipes may be included or attached in word or PDF. I will you back once I ve received your entry, so you know that it was received. Please cc: your guardian when you send in your entry. Mailed in paper copies will still be accepted. RECIPIES must accompany entry form Judges will compare your final product with the recipe. If mailing your entry, send one copy of each recipe, on 8.5 x 11 papers, with your entry form. Make sure it is legible. DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE PAPER WITH THE RECIPE. ONE RECIPE PER ENTRY FORM. PLEASE MAKE COPIES OF ENTRY FORM IF NECESSARY. Judging will be done on: Recipe Difficulty = 15% The finished product; Taste = 35%, Texture = 25%, Visual Appeal = 15% Presentation = 10% (how creative is your display of the food) The total points possible will be 100. Points will be deducted for late entries No one will be allowed to accompany or assist you with your cooking in the kitchen; we will have a kitchen supervisor who will be available to you if you need assistance and to ensure safety. You may prepare your recipes at Jobie Weekend, or you may want to make it prior to coming. If you cook at Jobie Weekend, please bring all the ingredients and all cooking utensils you will need for your recipe. You are also responsible for clean-up when you are finished cooking. Each Bethel will have an assigned check in time. If you have any items needing storage or refrigeration please bring them to the cooking room at anytime. You may enter only 1 recipe in a division - MAXIMUM OF THREE DIVISIONS. See competition form for these divisions. 3 COOKING COMPETITION CHECKLIST No one will be allowed to accompany or assist you with your cooking in the kitchen. Whether you cook at Jobie Weekend or ahead of time (adult kitchen supervisor on site for safety). Select ONLY one recipe per division (MAXIMUM 3 DIVISIONS) or Send 8.5x11 recipe paper with entry. Don't put your name on the 8.5x11 recipe paper. Bring one copy to Jobie Weekend to accompany your food for judging (do not put your name on it). Check in for judging at appointed time. Times will be assigned at Jobie Weekend check-in. Sign up for cooking time if needed, as soon as you can by coming to the cooking competition room. Bring your own cooking utensils and clean up items. (Including hand mixers). If you are cooking at Jobie Weekend. Your final presentation need only serve four. If you bring more than four portions, the remaining may be taken and shared with your Bethel in the cafeteria. Presentation points will be given for your creativity in displaying your dish. (Please do not bring Mom's best china). Mark your dish on the bottom with your name written on masking tape. Appearance points will be given for the visual appeal of the food itself. Refrigeration is limited - please bring your ingredients in coolers until your dish has been prepared. Put your name on your cooler. Frozen entries or ingredients are not recommended. Put your name on everything. or mail your entry now! Postmark no later than January 23 rd, Recipe must accompany entry form (except Challenge Ingredient category).

4 DIVISON 5 Rules for entries in the Challenge Ingredient category ONLY You do not need to attach a recipe with your entry form. A secret challenge ingredient will be ed to you (be sure to include an address on your entry form) two weeks prior to Jobie Weekend. You will then decide on a recipe or create your own that uses that ingredient. The Difficulty category (15%) will be replaced with Incorporation of challenge ingredient and points will be assigned based on how the ingredient is used. You must bring with you a 3 X 5 recipe card when you submit your entry for judging. Other instructions may be ed at the same time as the challenge ingredient. If you have any questions please contact the chairman.

5 When Checking in for Cooking Competition Go to the Table in the cooking room and give your name and Bethel number. You will then receive your Judging sheets. Please check ---- That the recipe that is attached to the judging sheets is your recipe!!! Take your recipe and judging sheet into the Judging room with your food item. Find the table for your category and set up your dish, leave the judging sheets and recipe with your dish. If you need help finding the correct table there will be judges in there to help you. Then please leave the room Come back in 1 hour and check the table outside the judging room to see if your dish has been judged. If it is there, PLEASE take the remaining food to the cafeteria to share with your Bethel. NOTE: Be aware Items on the table will get sampled by those hanging out. If you need to cook Come On IN If there is a stove open help yourself if there isn t a stove available leave your stuff in the room and come back later. We will make sure there is a judge to taste your food up until the dinner hour. There are to be NO I ll say it again NO Adults OR Friends in the Cooking Room. This is just like all the other competitions, where no one is allowed to help you through your competition. If the Daughter does need support in the Kitchen she can ask for help from The Cooking Kitchen Supervisor or one of the other girls in the Kitchen. Any questions?
