It was easily anyone's game but around halftime, the play switched in their favor and they took the lead from Jamaica, ending in a score. Every country that participated goes home with a medal in their own right - whether it be for sportsmanship, creativity on the courts or simply playing with heart. USA has set the bar high with its first World University Netball Championship and surely, it will be one to remember. 2 AUGUSTA SETHIE GK&GD, Captain, Namibia Augusta Sethie, Captain of the Namibia team is from Tuscan, Namibia. Currently she is studying at the University of Namibia to obtain a degree in paralegal studies to add to her degree in accounting. In speaking with Augusta it is clear that she doesn t like being underestimated and that she is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Brave Gladiators head coach Jacqueline Shipanga and become a world-renowned sports administrator. Center Court Courier: What does being captain of your team mean to you? Augusta: It means a lot; it just shows me that my team believes in my capabilities and that I can lead them on and off the court. Center Court Courier: What are your personal goals for netball? Augusta: It is Namibia qualifying one day for the world cup! My end goal for netball is to basically still play for a couple of years and then qualify by getting my level 1 and level 2 coaching and then become a coach myself. Center Court Courier: Who is your role model? Augusta: Casey May Kopua ONZM is a New Zealand international netball player. She reminds me of myself where she has a fighting spirit. Center Court Courier: Where do place netball as an importance in your life? Augusta: I place netball third in my life. My family comes first and my career comes second. Center Court Courier: What was the best advice you were giving in playing netball? Augusta: The biggest challenge is netball is having a team that does not jell. We are twelve players with different personalities, but its doable, its possible. The best advice that I have been given is that that always remember that netball is a team sport, doesn t matter how good you are, it s not an Individual sport. You guys have to work together in order to achieve the goal as a team. By Mischa Clarke ERIN ALLPORT University of Worcester, England The World University Championship games weren t just meaningful for USA team, who had never been represented as a fully American team, or for the many Americans who had just seen the games for the first time. For captain Erin Allport of the University of Worcester team, it was one of the most important games of her life because it represented the simultaneous climax and culmination of her University netball days. Center Court Courier: How do you feel about the championship now that it s all over? Erin: The week has just gone by so quickly I mean, it has flown by. We were coming here expecting to have some hard games and that s exactly what we did have. This is the highest level of netball we have ever played and I m grateful the girls had this opportunity. It was a space to meet different counties - just a brilliant experience for all of us. Center Court Courier: What was your most challenging experience? Erin: I have to say Jamaica. They are a really good team, and really good with the ball. They have five national players so it was a bit scary going into that game but again, an experience that we re never going to have again. Center Court Courier: Were there any styles of play that you weren t used to from other teams? Erin: Uganda, which was the first game we played. That game was quite challenging because they used their height to play to their advantage whereas some of the other teams played netball like we did so it was a bit more what we were used to. Ugandan style was uncommon and a bit more erratic. We were definitely not used to their style of play, especially how they split their legs and shoot in a circle. Center Court Courier: What is your hope for your team? Erin: I m actually leaving the Uni[versity] now I m graduating with my masters. But the girls on my team are going up into the premier division. So it s going to be British University College and Sport that s the boss league. It s the best you can get in premier. Hopefully the girls will go out and stay in that division or smash that division and carry on forward as a team. Center Court Courier: So, no more netball for you? Erin: I play netball at a club outside school so no more Uni netball for me. That was my last game today. This is it. There were three of us playing on that court that are leaving, so we were so glad to end it like this. By Shaloma Logan

3 Courtside with VICKI WILSON Final Highlights Australia vs Uganda Well, talk about a game going right down to the wire with only 20 seconds left on the clock. They got the turnover through the Ugandan error, called for footwork and they went down and Australia was able to score. It was such an outstanding game and showed great skill from both teams. We enjoyed calling it because it was so open and quite a lot of defensive passages so it was quite a splendid game to watch. Trinidad & Tobago vs Namibia Namibia won that game 52 to 38. Namibia is very patient with everything that they do with no starry plays but very clinical and safe, as they have been throughout the entire tournament. Trinidad was in the game up until halftime but in that last quarter, Namibia stepped up and won at 14 to 4. You have to put that down to Trinidad s fitness and not being able to sustain the effort. University of Worcester vs USA That was a fun game. You can tell every girl who went out there just was having the time of her life. Worcester that third quarter for them was the best at 24 to 4. They won that quarter, but for the USA team, it was awesome to see so many girls go out there to play. A couple of them started for the first time. Erin Sparks as did Marissa C. and they haven t started all week. Yet, again the highest scored ever by the USA in a World University Netball Championship game. But Worcester really played with a lot of speed and control and that was really the difference between the two teams. South Africa vs Jamaica That final just showcased netball at its best. It was a wonderful display of athleticism and ball skill by both teams. And the win for South Africa just goes to show it s the team that can sustain the effort for the longest time. They started slowly but they finished so strongly. Jamaica will look back at the one that got away from them because they lost at second quarter. The rest of the quarters were gone. The first quarter they won 10 goals to 8. The second they were still up 10 to 9. The third where it went 15 to 8 and they just didn t convert the opportunities and they squandered a lot of balls in their forward line. But what a final an epic final, and a terrific way to end the FISU World University Netball Championships.

Each and every one of us, for the past week, have had the privileged opportunity to forget about all the differences and the things that are going on in the world and come together and unite for something that we all love, Netball! I'd like to thank our dignitaries here today and especially the International Netball Federation Board... it's an honor to have you all here to show you what netball is about in the USA. To the athletes, we've had over 20,000 viewers this week watching you show them some fantastic netball. So on behalf of the FISU 2016 World University Netball Championship organizing committee, I really do want to express my gratitude to all of the athletes, volunteers, and officials from over 17 nations that have come to Miami, Florida for this special event.
