These instructions are subject to the provisions of the Contract Documents. Should the Contractor require a change in the Contract Price or project schedule, he shall submit to the Architect within ten (10) days of the date herein, an itemized proposal setting out in detail the basis for such requirement. If the proposal is accepted by the Client, this Site Instruction will be superseded by a Change Order evidencing such acceptance. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Specifications for Carpet Tile ( Reception area + Security vestibule ) and Concrete Floor Finishing Bish, See attached for specifications for Carpet Tile ( CPT ) and Polished Concrete Floor ( CN-1 ). American Concrete Institute ACI R-89, Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction C. Other Test: Reflectivity 1.1 SUBMITTALS A. Submit in accordance with the requirements of Section Submittal Procedures Green Building Products Information Submittal Form. 2. Provide submittal information within 35 calendar days after the contractor has received the owner's notice to proceed. B. Product Data: 1. Submit special concrete finishes manufacturer's specifications and test data. 2. Submit special concrete finishes describing product to be provided, giving manufacturer s name and product name for the specified material proposed to be provided under this section. 3. Submit special concrete finishes manufacturer's recommended installation procedures; which when approved by the Architect, will become the basis for accepting or rejecting actual installation procedures used on the work. 4. Submit special concrete finishes technical data sheet giving descriptive data, curing time, and application requirements. 5. Submit special concrete finishes manufacturer s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and other safety requirements. 6. Follow all special concrete finishes published manufacturer s installation instructions. C. Test Reports: 1. Provide certified test reports, prepared by an independent testing laboratory, confirming compliance with specified performance criteria. D. Samples: 1. Each floor has its own unique appearance when completed. Manufacturer s lab samples are supplied only to show a smooth shiny surface. The final appearance of the finished floor cannot be guaranteed to match a sample due to the natural variations in concrete. E. Product Variations: 1. The variegated colors produced are unique to each concrete surface and depend on the chemical composition, mix design, porosity, age, texture, and color of the concrete substrate. Mottling and wide variations in color and intensity may occur. If contaminants

3 PORT METRO VANCOUVER DISCOVERY CENTRE SECTION MAY, 2015 PAGE 2 OF 4 remain on the surface, the penetration of Lythic Densifier and colors may be blocked. Concrete from different loads or pours, and in patched in areas, may appear significantly different in color than adjacent areas, when treated with acid stains, dyes and densified. 1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: 1. Use a certified installer and an adequate number of skilled workmen who are thoroughly trained and experienced in the necessary craft. 2. The special concrete finish manufacturer shall certify applicator. 3. Applicator shall be familiar with the specified requirements and the methods needed for proper performance of work of this section. Applicator must have availability of proper equipment to perform work within scope of this project on a timely basis. Applicator should have successfully performed a minimum of 5 projects of at least 5000 square feet each. A. Manufacturer s Certification: 1. Provide letter of certification from concrete finish manufacturer stating that installer is certified applicator of special concrete finishes, and is familiar with proper procedures and installation requirements required by the manufacturer. B. Mock-up: 1. Apply mock-ups of each type finish, to demonstrate typical joints, surface finish, color variation (if any), and standard of workmanship. a. Build mock-ups approximately 20 square feet in the location indicated or if not indicated, as directed by the Architect or Owner Representative. b. Notify Architect or Owner Representative seven days in advance of dates and times when mock-ups will be constructed when practical. c. Obtain from the Architect or Owner Representative approval of mock-ups before starting construction. d. If the Architect or Owner Representative determines that mock-ups do not meet requirements, demolish and remove them from the site and cast others until mockups are approved. e. Maintain mock-ups during construction in an undisturbed condition as a standard for judging the completed work. f. Approved mock-ups may become part of the completed work if undisturbed at time of substantial completion. C. Protection: 1. No satisfactory chemical or cleaning procedure is available to remove petroleum stains from the concrete surface. Prevention is therefore essential. a. All hydraulic powered equipment must be diapered to avoid staining of the concrete. b. No trade will park vehicles on the inside slab. If necessary to complete their scope of work, drop cloths will be placed under vehicles at all times. c. No pipe cutting machine will be used on the inside floor slab. 2. Steel will not be placed on interior slab to avoid rust staining. 3. All equipment must be equipped with non-marking tires. D. Pre-Installation Conference:

Conduct conference at project site to comply with requirements in Division 1 Section Project Management and Coordination 1.3 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials in original containers, with seals unbroken, bearing manufacturer labels indicating brand name and directions for storage. B. Dispense special concrete finish material from factory numbered and sealed containers. Maintain record of container numbers. 1.4 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Environmental Limitations: 1. Comply with manufacturer s written instructions for substrate temperature and moisture content, ambient temperature and humidity, ventilation, and other conditions affecting topping performance. a. Concrete must have a Floor Flatness rating of at least 30. b. Concrete must have a Floor Levelness rating of at least 25. c. Concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days or as directed by the manufacturer before application of Lythic Densifier can begin. d. Application of Lythic Densifier shall take place 10 days prior to installation of equipment and substantial completion, thus providing a complete, uninhibited concrete slab for application. B. Close areas to traffic during floor application and after application, for time period recommended in writing by manufacturer. 1.5 INDOOR AIR QUALITY A. Indoor Air Quality: Comply with provisions outlined in Section Quality Requirements. Use methods and materials that minimize the generation and dispersal of contaminants. Protect adjacent areas from contamination. Provide temporary dust enclosures, barriers, and other means necessary to contain dust and other contaminants at their source. B. Prior to start of work securely seal or install temporary filters to air supply and return ducts to prevent migration of dust and noise through the air system. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Subject to compliance with specification the following manufacturers are acceptable: 1. Lythic Solutions, Inc. 2. Or approved alternative. 2.2 MATERIALS A. Densifying and Sealing Agent (CN-1): 1. Lythic Densifier & Lythic Protector or Lythic SPD Protector, manufactured by Lythic Solutions, Inc., Vancouver, WA, USA (360) a. Performance Criteria: Abraision Resistance ASTM C Certified Applicator: a. Sustainable Flooring Solutions, 3012 NE Minnehahah, Vancouver, WA (360)

5 PORT METRO VANCOUVER DISCOVERY CENTRE SECTION MAY, 2015 PAGE 4 OF 4 PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrate, with installer present, for conditions affecting performance of finish. Correct conditions detrimental to timely and proper work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. B. Verify that base slab meet finish and surface profile requirements in Division 3 Section Cast-In- Place Concrete, and Project Conditions above. C. Prior to application, verify that floor surfaces are free of construction latents. 3.2 POLISHING, DENSIFICATION, AND SEALING OF FLOORS A. Floor surfaces shall be ground to remove surface contamination and expose fine aggregate for salt & pepper finish. B. Floor surfaces shall be polished to an average minimum gloss meter reading of 50 matte finish (typically grit) C. Edges shall be polished to match floor area within 1/8 of wall. D. Sealing, Hardening and Polishing of Concrete Surface 1. Application is to take place at least 10 days prior to racking and other in-store accessory installation, thus providing a complete, uninhibited concrete slab for application 2. Only a certified applicator shall apply Lythic Densifier. Applicable procedures must be followed as recommended by the product manufacturer and as required to match approved test sample. 3. Achieve hardening, dust-proofing, and abrasion resistance of the surface without changing the natural appearance of the concrete, except for the sheen. 1. Finish to within ½ of vertical surfaces where practical. 2. Polish to pre-determined level based on test sample. E. Sealer 1. Apply Lythic SPD Protector by Lythic Solutions, Inc. on the entire floor as a final finish of the polished concrete. Follow application directions and burnish with hogs hair pad for final sheen. 3.3 WORKMANSHIP AND CLEANING A. The premises shall be kept clean and free of debris at all times. B. Remove spatter from adjoining surfaces, as necessary. C. Repair damages to surface caused by cleaning operations. D. Remove debris from jobsite 1. Dispose of materials in separate, closed containers as provided by the owner, and in accordance with local regulations. 3.4 PROTECTION A. A. Protect finished work until fully cured in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations. B. If finished at 120 grit level, General Contractor shall protect finished areas from excessive water for a period of 30 days (i.e. standing water.) END OF SECTION

Install carpet tile and accessories for a complete installation as indicated and specified. B. Prepare substrates to receive carpet tiling in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations. 1.2 RELATED SECTIONS A Gypsum Board Assemblies. B Painting and Coating. 1.3 REFERENCES A. North American Floor Covering Association of Canada, Floor Covering Reference Manual, D. LEED Canada For Commercial Interiors Version 1.0 (LEED-CI). 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Submit in accordance with the requirements of Section Submittal Procedures Green Building Products Information Submittal Form. B. Product Data: 1. Installation instructions and procedures. 2. Maintenance Data: At project completion submit manufacturer's maintenance data and cleaning instructions for carpet tile installed. C. Shop Drawings: Submit carpet tile layout for each area clearly indicating carpet type, direction of carpet weave and layout of joint, and other details including type and finish/colour of trims and mouldings used, required to clarify the work for review before commencing installation. D. Samples: 1. Submit Three (3) 300mm (12 in.) square pieces of each selected carpet tile. 2. Include manufacturer s specifications covering the installation of the carpet. 3. Submit material safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for sealers and adhesives. E. Maintenance Materials: Prior to start of work, supply Owner with 5% of each type of carpet tile specified to be installed, for use as maintenance material. Obtain receipt from Owner. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Installer of at least ten (10) projects equal in yardage to Work specified. Minimum five (5) years proven experience. B. Flame resistance to CAN4 S102.2 M88 conforming to Hazardous Products Act, Carpet Regulations. C. Mock-up: 1. Mock-up layout of 100% of carpet tile in reception area and security vestibule, in conjunction with carpet tile company representative, including transitions and layout, for approval by consultant.

Notify Architect or Owner s Representative seven days in advance of dates and times when mock-ups will be constructed when practical. 3. Obtain from Architect or Owner s Representative approval of mock up prior to commencing final installation. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING\ A. Deliver and store packaged material in original containers with seals and labels intact, in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. 1.7 INDOOR AIR QUALITY A. Indoor Air Quality: Comply with provisions outlined in Section Quality Requirements. Use methods and materials that minimize the generation and dispersal of contaminants. Protect adjacent areas from contamination. Provide temporary dust enclosures, barriers, and other means necessary to contain dust and other contaminants at their source. B. Prior to start of work securely seal or install temporary filters to air supply and return ducts to prevent migration of dust and noise through the air system. 1.8 WARRANTY A. Provide carpet tile manufacturer's written lifetime commercial limited warranty for modular tile, lifetime stain, lifetime abrasive wear and lifetime colourfastness and that carpeting will provide specified level of appearance, subject to proper care and maintenance. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Subject to compliance with specification the following manufacturers are acceptable: 1. InterfaceFlor. 2. Or approved alternative. 2.2 MATERIALS A. Carpet Tile 1 (CPT): Net Effect One, B601 + B602 (1/3), B603 (2/3) 2.3 ACCESSORIES A. Leveling Compound: Latex modified, hydraulic cement based formulation as recommended by carpet tile manufacturer. B. Metal Edge Strips: Extruded aluminum mill finish, of width indicated, height as required to protect exposed edge of carpet. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Prior to start of Work inspect surfaces to receive carpet tile, with Installer present. Verify surfaces are clean, dry, sound, level and free from oil, grease, wax or other foreign matter that would impair installation. B. Correct unsatisfactory conditions. Start of work indicates acceptance of conditions. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Remove existing adhesive residue to expose 80% of overall area of original substrate. B. Moisture Testing: 1. Undertake concrete testing as specified in this section for installations of flooring directly over concrete subfloor. 2. Test several areas, especially near exterior walls and walls containing plumbing.

8 PORT METRO VANCOUVER DISCOVERY CENTRE SECTION MAY, 2015 PAGE 3 OF 4 a. Use a 3% Phenolphthalein in Anhydrous alcohol solution. Chip the concrete at least 1/4" deep (do not apply directly to concrete surface) and apply several drops of solution to chipped area. 1) If no colour change occurs in solution, there is not enough moisture to affect installation. Proceed with installation. 2) If a slight pinkish or reddish tinge appears within 5 minutes, moisture is present and further testing must be done. b. Calcium Chloride test: Maximum moisture transfer must not exceed 3 Ibs./1000 square feet with this test. c. Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter Meter: Moisture readings should not exceed 4.5 on the upper scale. Following manufacturer's instructions, take moisture readings in several locations within installation area. If excessive moisture is present do not install flooring directly over concrete. Instead, get concrete dry or install a moisture barrier. d. If moisture content in concrete exceeds 3 Ibs./1000 (but not 12 Ibs./1 000), apply Armstrong VapArrest S-135 according to manufacturer s recommendations. C. Prepare floor to CRI-104 Standard. Remove subfloor ridges and bumps. Fill minor or local low spots, cracks, joints, holes, and other defects with subfloor filler. D. Apply, trowel, and float filler to achieve smooth, flat, hard surface. Prohibit traffic until filler is cured. E. Proceed with carpet tile installation only after other trades, especially gypsum board and painting, have been completed. F. Provide adequate means to protect face of doors, door frames, walls, and other adjacent surfaces from marring due to carpet tile installation. 3.3 INSTALLATION OF CARPET TILE A. Refer to Drawings and Finish Schedule. B. Install carpet tiling in accordance with manufacturer s written instructions and reviewed Shop Drawings. C. Install carpet tile in accordance with NFCA guidelines using tools, materials, methods and sequence of work as recommended. D. Install carpet tile by method recommended by carpet manufacturer to substrate in accordance with CGSB-4-GP-156 and NFCA requirements E. Install carpet tile to areas indicated, fit tightly and install neatly at perimeters, around fixtures, fitments, projections, and into recesses and closets unless indicated otherwise. Ensure dye lot, pattern and texture match in each area of installation. F. Treat cut edges and joints with seam sealer. Install protective edgings/reducer strips in continuous lengths to exposed carpet edges as required to suit conditions. Coordinate edging adjacent to other flooring materials with appropriate Sections of work as applicable. 3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Clean up as work progresses and remove rubbish resulting from this operation. B. Perform the following operations immediately after installing carpet tile: 1. Remove excess adhesive, seam sealer, and other surface blemishes using cleaner recommended by carpet manufacturer. 2. Thoroughly vacuum carpet with a commercial grade beater type vacuum cleaner. 3. Remove loose pieces of yarn with sharp scissors.

Protect carpet against damage from construction operations and placement of equipment and fixtures during the remainder of construction period. Use protection methods indicated or recommended in writing by carpet manufacturer. E. Ensure carpet tile is protected against damage from rolling loads for 48 hours after the installation and is protected by covering with plywood or hardboard where rolling traffic will occur, such as moving appliances, and from traffic damage with suitable covering until floor has been inspected, accepted and is ready for use.
