Some of the hostels listed here offer direct access you can just turn up and apply for a place. This is also called self-referral. For other hostels you need a referral from a Local Authority. These are only some of the hostels and shelters available. Being on the list does not mean that they are recommendations. If you go to a hostel, take proof of your identity and income, and if possible your National Insurance number. Remember that hostels can be full. There is no guarantee they will have a place for you. Conditions for entry may vary from time to time.
