7 49 years of history about Turkish Antarctic Scientific Research(1967 present) During her doctorate research Genceli- Güner discovered a new molecule (MgSO4 11H2O) thus the mistake connected with the molecule existing in literature was corrected. 16 Outreach forlong Term APECS- Turkey was established in Polar Research Clubs were established under 26 different middle schools. University Students Polar Team (PolSTeam) was established under ITU PolReC in More than 150 university students joined the team. ITU PolReC, PolSTeam, Istanbul and Marmara Universities jointly gave half a day workshop in May 2016 to 140 middle school teachers. During TARE 2016, ITU PolReC researchers had a live interview with one of the middle school polar research club to respond to questions from students. Turkey will host COMNAP / SCAR photographic exhibition starting from next month. University students visit middle school clubs and students, convey their knowledge to juniors and respond to their questions.

18 Long Term Plans Protocol on Environment Protection at Turkish parliament, expected to be signed at the end of 2016 Turkish Antarctic research initiations will intensify the educational activities for awareness. Scientists planned to be sent to the different research stations all around the continent in Antarctica. International collaborations with SCAR countries will be made and supported, also will be funded by Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.
