Cut half way along the line so each corner has 2 points. Fold over each point to the centre of the square and push a fastener through the middle and through the middle and through the top of the card. 4 Activity Cooking activities Making biscuits 1. Heat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth. 3. Stir in the flour to get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and gently roll out until the paste is 1cm/½in thick. 4. Cut into rounds or fingers and place onto a baking tray. Sprinkle with caster sugar and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes. Bake in the oven for minutes, or until pale goldenbrown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack. 8 Activity Outdoor activities Hoop run Players have to pick a beanbag up from the start line, run in and out of the markers, place the bean bag in the hoop and return for another bean bag. Hoops and beanbags This game could be done individually or as part of a team. Could be timed or a race against other people or teams. Bubble ball Two hoops are set up at each end of a marked out area. Children are divided into teams of 3 and given coloured bands relating to the colour of one of the hoops. Hoops, bands and balls The aim is to gain possession of the ball and throw to team members in order to get close to the hoop to score a goal. Free choice Bands and hoops Football
9 Activity Cooking activities Making Fairy cakes Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and line 2 x 12-hole fairy cake tins with paper cases. 1. Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl until pale. Beat in the eggs, a little at a time, and stir in the vanilla extract. 2. Fold in the flour using a large metal spoon. Add a little milk until the mixture is a soft dropping consistency and spoon the mixture into the paper cases until they are half full. 3. Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until goldenbrown on top and a skewer inserted into one of the cakes comes out clean. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the tin and cool on a wire rack. 4. For the icing, sift the icing sugar into a large mixing bowl and stir in enough water to create a smooth mixture. Stir in the food colouring. 5. To ice the fairy cakes, drizzle the icing over the cakes, sprinkle with decorations and set aside until the icing hardens.
