Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. +Today we are going to break this down into 7 parts that I believe will help you in your prayer life.

2 +I get asked a lot about prayer Most people say they struggle to pray for longer than 5 minutes +I hear quite often people say well, you know I say my prayers at night I m not sure what that means exactly but if our relationship with God is as strong as saying my prayers at night then we have a real misunderstanding of Him +The disciples hadn t heard anyone connect with God like this before It was as if Jesus was actually talking and communicating with someone +so they go to Him and say teach us to pray +Pray in this manner Meaning let me give you an example, guideline, outline of how to pray effectively 1. our Father in Heaven +This is the relational connection between us and God Romans 8:15-17 NKJV For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs heirs of God

3 and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together +Your view of God will define your relationship with Him +My oldest son has no problem coming to me He has confidence in our connection 2. Hallowed be thy name +This is where we can declare the name of God 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. +He is my righteousness Isaiah 53:5 NKJV But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. +He is our Peace, Healer

4 1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. +He is our Victory John 10:11 NKJV I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. +He is a Good Shepherd Isaiah 9:6 NKJV For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. +He is Wonderful, My counselor, Mighty, Everlasting, Peace Exodus 3:14 NKJV And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. +He is everything we need

Your kingdom come, Your will be done Matthew 6:33 NKJV But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you +His will not my will +This is where trust has to come into the equation +I trust that your will is better than my will, your solutions are better than my solutions.. +This is also a way for us to elevate others first.. +Pray for others first 4. Give us our daily bread +This is where we make our request known to God Psalms 121:1-2 NKJV I will lift up my eyes to the hills

6 From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. +This was a bit of a play on words.. The government or rulers would have been set on a hill Where does my help come from.. not the ones on the hill but from the Lord...He is the provider of what we need +It s our declaration of dependance on Him 5. Forgive us AS we forgive those +Get your heart right with God and people +You and I need forgiveness but we in turn must first forgive +Just try this Pray for the ability to forgive them before they do it 6. Don t lead us into temptation 1 Peter 5:8 NKJV Be sober, be vigilant; because[c] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

7 +A more accurate interpretation would be don t allow us to be tempted. +We shouldn t be ignorant of the enemy s schemes This is where we ask God for illumination on what the enemy is trying to trap us in 2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. +he can be sly Quiet the opposite of my son playing hide and go seek 7. Yours is the Kingdom, Power, and Glory +It s all about you Jesus!
