3 I. I N T R O D U C T I O N Read and follow all instructions, warnings, and notes in this manual before attempting to operate your power wheelchair for the first time. If there is any information in this manual which you do not understand, or if you require additional assistance for set up or operation, please contact us. Your safety when operating this product depends upon whether you completely follow the instructions, cautions and warnings in this manual. We are not liable for any damage and/or injuries resulting from individual unsafe operation or failure to follow the instructions, cautions and warnings in this manual. The following symbols are used to identify warnings, notices and operation instructions. All of them are important for your safety. It is strongly recommended that you read and understand them completely and carefully. WARNING! Failure to head the warnings in the manual may result personal injury. CAUTION Failure to heed the cautions in the manual may result in damage to the power chair. The design of the power chair combines the state-of-the-art technology with contemporary styles. Its structure for quick assembly and disassembly is, especially, convenient for storing or placing in your vehicle while travelling. We are certain that the best performance, safety, comfort and troublefree operation of your wheelchair will add convenience to your daily living. For your safety, please ensure that you read and follow all instructions, warnings and notes carefully before attempting to operate your power wheelchair for the first time. Once you master how to operate and maintain your wheelchair, it is certain that this product will give you years of trouble-free service and enjoyment. This product model is powered by batteries attached to the wheelchair. We would appreciate your questions, comments, and suggestions about this wheelchair and the service you received from us. 1

STRUCTURE AND PERFORMANCE Your power wheelchair mainly consists of the following parts: Chair-Frame: It consists of a foldable component, which can be folded from the middle of the seat base in order to store or transport conveniently Operating system: It consists of a controller, two battery boxes, two motors, a set of drive mechanisms and two drive wheels. The battery boxes are located under each side of the seat base and each consists of 12 Volts and 20Ah and their overload protectors. The charger socket for the batteries is on the back end of the controller. There are two manual freewheel levers on the drive mechanism. Adjusting the levers allows you to operate the wheelchair manually or by motor. 6 III. ASSEMBLY 1. Take out your wheelchair from the packing box and put it on the ground. Push the chair-frame apart to the left and right, and press two tubes of on both sides of the seat base down into the groves on both sides of the chair-frame 2. Flip up the push-handle to have the folding-levers snap into the folder 3. Plug both wiring harnesses of the batteries and the controller 4. Insert the tube on the lower end of the controller into the holder-tube on the re reverse side of the left or right armrest which is chosen as you like, and adjust it in and out to a suitable position, and then tighten it with the thumb-screw. Last, tie the tube with the cable by a plastic belt 5. Connect the wiring harness plug of the controller with the wiring harness socket from the batteries. 6. Insert the upper end of the left footplate from the outside of the wheelchair into the left vertical frame-holder on the wheelchair front, and push the semicircle buckle on the lower end of the footplate into the frame-holder, and then rotate the footplate forward so that a latch on it will automatically insert into a pin hole. Then, unfold the footplate down. And then insert the right footplate as the left one. 4
7 IV. OPERATION 1. Comfort Adjustments Armrest Flipping Up and Down The armrest of this product can be flipped up for your convenience for getting on or off. Press the lever below the armrest to flip up the armrest, and then the user can get on from the side of the chair. After getting on, flip down the armrest and lock it with the chair-frame. Controller Position Adjustment Adjusting the controller position in and out could make it more convenient to operate the controller. Unscrew the thumbscrew below the armrest and adjust the controller in or out to a suitable position, and then tighten the thumb-screw. Footplate Height Adjustment Remove the fixing nuts and bolts on both sides of footplates. Slide the drawtubes with footplates up and down to the desired height, and then insert the bolts and tighten their bolt bolt-nuts. 5
8 2. Controller The controller is a key component for your wheelchair. All electronics to operate the wheelchair are housed in this controller. The controller consists of the following parts: Speed Up Button Joystick On/Off Button Horn Button Speed Down Button Charger Socket The controller is usually housed on one of the armrests and connected to the batteries together with the motors. WARNING! If your wheelchair moves accidentally, please release the joystick immediately so that the wheelchair will stop moving automatically unless the joystick is out of order. Buttons on Controller o On/Off Button The On/Off -Button controls the power to the controller electronics and motors through the latter. Don t use the On/Off-Button to stop the wheelchair unless some emergency occurs. o Joystick The joystick is mainly used to control the speed and direction of the wheelchair. The further you push the joystick from its central position, the faster the wheelchair moves. Whenever you release the joystick, it will be automatically operative. WARNING! Make sure that the wheelchair is in drive mode before using it 6
9 o Horn Button The hooter will sound if you hit this button. o Speed After powers on, the Speed Light will show the current maximum speed of your wheelchair. Each time the Speed Up Button (or Speed Down Button) is pressed, the number of cells will increase (or decrease) by one causing the unit to accelerate or decelerate. The user can adjust the maximum speed with these buttons. WARNING The wheelchair user must have the ability to drive or control the wheelchair safely. ADP Designs accepts no legal liability for losses of any kind arising from failure to comply 7
10 3. Drive and freewheel modes For your convenience, the wheelchair is equipped with two manual freewheel levers which are located respectively near the left and right wheels. The wheelchair is in freewheel mode when both freewheel levers are simultaneously in position. This allows the wheelchair to be pushed manually. The wheelchair is in drive mode when both levers are in position B so that the wheelchair cannot be pushed by hand. Manual freewheel levers Anti-tippers CAUTION: Note that the brake system is disengaged when the wheelchair is in freewheel mode Do not use the wheelchair unless getting help from your assistant when the wheelchair is in free-wheel mode. Do not attempt to put your wheelchair in freewheel mode by yourself while you sit on it unless getting help from your assistant, otherwise it may cause personal injury. Do not put your wheelchair in freewheel mode while on an incline, otherwise the chair could roll uncontrollably on its own, and result in personal injury. 4. Safety belt For your safety, you have to fasten your safety belt whenever you are on the wheelchair when it is in motion. 8
11 Snap the buckle so as to hear a click Pull out the belt buckle while it is pressed 5. Charging The off-board battery charger is a main part of the wheelchair. With it, the batteries of your wheelchair can be charged quickly and easily to make your wheelchair achieve its best. WARNING! You must charge your wheelchair s batteries with the off-board charger supplies by ADP Wheelchairs. Never use any automotivetype battery charger. Charging the batteries using the off-board charger: o Position your wheelchair close to a wall socket (AC 220 Volts). o Make sure that the controller is turned off and the wheelchair is not in freewheel mode. o Plug the 3-pin output connector of the charger into a 3-hole charger socket on the controller. o Insert input-plug of the charger into the wall socket. o Lighting of the red LED on the charger shows that charging is in process. o The green LED on the charger lights when the batteries are fully charged. o 8 to 14 hours are suggested per charge. o When charged, unplug the input-plug of the charger from the wall socket and then the output-connector from the socket on the controller. Place the charger with cables and plugs together into the bag on the rear of the seatback 6. Overload Protector When motors overload, the overload protector will shut down the power to protect the motors and their electronics. Once the protector is activated, recovery operations are as follows: 1) Wait for a minute or 2 minutes to let motors and the electronics cool down. 2) Press the reset button on the wheelchair to make the wheelchair recover normally. 9
12 7. Precautions Make sure that the controller has been reliably installed and that the joystick is vertically upward in its central position. Sit firmly, fasten your seatbelt, lean your body against the backrest and lean your head back as far as possible to prevent bumps on the way After powered on check, firstly, whether the maximum speed indicated by the speed light on the controller is suitable for you. If not, please adjust it with the speed up/down buttons on the controller. For your security, preferably use a slow speed at first and gradually increase it. If the joystick moves toward an unexpected direction, please release the joystick at once. This will cause the wheelchair to cease movement immediately CAUTION: Keep your feet on the footplates; don t extend them out of the footplates. Don t extend your arms out of the armrests during your driving. Ensure that the wheelchair is not in freewheel mode before you use or leave it 8. Hazards Do not use the wheelchair in the following cases: 1) The cases prohibited in this user s manual such as an incline steeper than the maximum slope approachable, barriers too high, highways, motor vehicles, highways, motor vehicle lanes etc. 2) In some places or on some surfaces where the wheelchair may skid, such as a wet grassy slope. 3) If the control system or other crucial components need to be repaired. 9. Electro-Magnetic Interference Your wheelchair may be travelling in the areas affected by electromagnetic interference from some radio transmitters such as radio, wireless intercom, mobile phone, radars etc. in these cases, your wheelchair s movement may be affected by them WARNING! Electronic equipment may be affected by Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). If the wheelchair exhibits abnormal situations due to EMI, please turn the power off immediately, stop using the wheelchair and consult your service agent. ADP Designs accepts no legal liability for losses of any kind arising from failure to comply witjh this condition. 10
13 10. Folding and Storing of Wheelchair Please fold and store your wheelchair for transport and store as follows: 1) Put your wheelchair on the ground. Shut down the power and put the two manual freewheel levers in freewheel mode. 2) Turn up the footplates and rotate them 90 degrees outward and then pull the latch off the footplate and remove it. 3) Unplug all wire harnesses and connectors between the controller, motors and batteries 4) Pinch both folding-levers on both sides of the push-handle, and flip them down. 5) Remove the batteries, take off the seat-cushion, pull the seat-base up from its middle and then fold the wheelchair 11
14 V. CARE AND MAINTENANCE 1. Care and Maintenance After Using Shut down the power (Unplug all wiring connections is the best). Inhibit children from touching the wheelchair. Your wheelchair should be stored at room temperature in order for it to keep its normal performance for longer. Use a clean and soft cloth to scrub, and then dry the wheelchair frame. 2. Routine Checks You should perform some checks on your wheelchair before each journey in order to always keep it in the best condition. Moreover, you should check your wheelchair as follows: Items Weekly Monthly Yearly Each Part Mechanical Components Brakes Wiring Harnesses and Cables Charging of batteries Mobility of the Front Wheels Pneumatic Case of The Rear Wheels Tyre Wear Tyre Damage Wear of the Push-Handle, Seatback and Seat-base Motors Controller Cleanliness 12
15 3. Troubleshooting This wheelchair is equipped with a malfunction auto-alarm. If the wheelchair is out of order, the LED lights on the controller will turn and the buzzer will sound some alarms so that you can find out the faults according to: Number of LED display Diagnosis beeps 1 1 LED lamp lights Battery capacity is low 2 2 LED lamp lights Left motor failure 3 3 LED lamp lights Left brake failure 4 4 LED lamp lights Right motor failure 5 5 LED lamp lights Right brake failure 6 6 LED lamp lights Overload of the controller 7 7 LED lamp lights Failure of the joystick 8 8 LED lamp lights Failure of the controller itself 9 9 LED lamp lights Failure of the controller 13
