1 EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTHCARE EDUCATION ABOUT Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. RMUoHP offers graduate healthcare education for physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, nurses and other healthcare professionals. For our post-professional graduate programs, RMUoHP's blend of face-to-face and distance education allows students to maintain their home and professional commitments while pursuing advanced degrees which include integration of scholarship, practical experience, and research. The residential, entry-level DPT program incorporates technological and clinical advances as well as contemporary educational theory. PROGRAMS Doctor of Science in Health Science The Doctor of Science (DSc) in Health Science with clinical concentration areas in Athletic Training, Clinical Electrophysiology, Health Promotion and Wellness, Orthopaedic and Sports Science, and Pediatric Science develops evidence-based clinician-scientists with advanced clinical skills who can critically evaluate the literature and participate in the research process through identification of best practice in the concentration area and apply that to independent clinical research. Master of Science in Health Science The Master of Science in Health Science is for bachelors prepared individuals who are employed as strength coaches, personal trainers, certified athletic trainers, military personnel, coaches and physical educators (to name a few) who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree related to their respective professions. Two tracks are currently offered in the program and provide the opportunity for individuals to focus on sports performance or pediatric exercise science. Doctor of Nursing Practice The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at RMUoHP is designed to prepare graduates for advanced clinical practice and leadership roles. Two tracks are offered including the post-baccalaureate entry focusing on Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) competencies and a post-master s entry. Graduates will process the skills necessary to assume a broad range of roles in both direct and indirect healthcare settings. Graduates will become proficient at delivering patient-centered care, work as part of interdisciplinary teams, practice evidence-based care, focus on quality improvements and effectively utilize information technology. Post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy The RMUoHP Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program provides meaningful, obtainable, and affordable post-professional education to occupational therapists and facilitates the development of the occupational therapy practice-scholar who embeds research in his or her everyday practice. The program provides practicing clinicians with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to contribute to occupational therapy becoming a powerful, widely recognized, science-driven, and evidence-based profession with a globally connected and diverse workforce meeting society s occupational needs. The program offers elective tracks in Administration and Practice Management, Aging, Hand Therapy, and Pediatric Science. Entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy The entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is a traditional campus-based program consisting of 8 semesters. Learning experiences include classroom, laboratory, online, and off-site clinical education. There are a total of 133 credit hours required for successful completion of the program, including the credits earned for the 51 weeks of clinical education. The DPT program incorporates technological and clinical advances as well as contemporary educational theory. The DPT program caters to highly motivated students who wish to be active participants in their education.

CONCENTRATIONS Pediatric Exercise Science Sports Performance CURRICULUM The program is designed for students to continue professional work obligations during the 12 month didactic portion of the program while completing three semesters; two semesters require attendance on campus for discussion, demonstration, and presentations. Students will have the option to choose between a thesis or non-thesis track. 3 DOCTOR OF SCIENCE IN HEALTH SCIENCE ABOUT THE PROGRAM The purpose of the DSc in Health Science program is to prepare professionals from healthcare related fields as master clinicians, researchers, leaders, and educators. The program provides students with the ability to make contributions by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and/or presenting research at professional conferences. Students planning to enter an academic career will learn skills for effective teaching in academic healthcare programs. CONCENTRATIONS Athletic Training Clinical Electrophysiology Health Promotion & Wellness Orthopaedic & Sports Science Pediatric Science DEGREE OBJECTIVES The DSc in Health Science Program is committed to the development of the healthcare professional who can: Conduct and disseminate clinically sound, ethical, cost-effective research; Make significant and relevant contributions to the current body of scientific knowledge in their professional practice; Develop knowledge expertise in the area of dissertation interest; Influence ethical and legal management of healthcare through education of providers, consumers, and society at large; Enhance leadership abilities, including competence in the roles of clinician, researcher, educator, and leader; Describe and distinguish the various theories associated with the clinical concentration area. CURRICULUM Core Courses: All students are required to complete research methods/biostatistics courses as well as required theory courses. These courses provide the foundation for the concentration courses and the research process. Concentration Courses: Students are required to select a concentration area before enrolling in the DSc program. Concentration courses are generally in the specific area of the applied research that the student will pursue. Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the US Department of Education.

4 Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Why pursue your DNP from RMUoHP? RMUoHP's limited-residency educational model blends the best of face-to-face and online education to meet the needs of working professionals, allowing students to balance personal, professional, and academic commitments Expert Faculty Mentors Evidence-based Practice Curriculum Post-Baccalaureate DNP The 86-credit post-baccalaureate FNP program follows the limited-residency model of the University s current DNP program. Nationally recognized standards and competencies were used to develop the curriculum. A required scholarly project, with a focus on applying best current evidence to transform systems, culminates the student s application of doctoral level thinking. The program is designed to prepare nurses to deliver primary health care to families in a variety of settings. Students follow patients through the life cycle utilizing primary care diagnostic and management skills. The clinical experiences are supported by preceding or concurrent didactic content. Successful graduates of this program would be eligible to obtain licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), nurse practitioner, with a population focus of family. Post-Master s DNP The Post-Master's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at RMUoHP is designed to prepare advanced practice leaders to affect change through system redesign and evidencebased decision making in a variety of clinical settings. The Post-Master s DNP program, with its limitedresidency model, will provide the flexibility for the advanced practice leader to maintain employment while obtaining a doctoral degree in a total of 45 credit hours. During the first 12 months, students will complete three semesters, each typically consisting of three modules of coursework. The program, including didactic coursework and a capstone project, will require approximately two years to complete. Modules 1 & 3: Readings, Assignments, WebStudy participation threaded discussions or chats, etc. Module 2: Web-enhanced courses with additional attendance on campus for lecture, demonstration, etc. Capstone: Applying best current evidence to transform systems Advancing Knowledge, Advancing Healthcare

5 DOCTOR OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY The RMUoHP Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program provides meaningful, obtainable, and affordable post-professional education to occupational therapists and facilitates the development of the occupational therapy practice-scholar who embeds research in his or her everyday practice. Our program is delivered through a limited-residency model which blends the best of distance and oncampus learning. This allows our students to maintain personal and professional commitments while earning their advanced degree. Elective Tracks Administration & Practice Management Aging Hand Therapy Pediatric Science CURRICULUM RMUoHP has recently revised its OTD curriculum to enhance our students educational experience. As an evidence-based practice institution we feel revisions to the curriculum are at times necessary as advances in research are made and as the profession of occupational therapy evolves to meet societal demands. RMUoHP s OTD program consists of 31 credits (34 for elective tracks), completed over four semesters (16 months). Three semesters require a visit to campus. 6 Accredited University, Accredited Programs The mission of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is to provide student-centered education that prepares graduates for socially responsible, outcomes-oriented, evidencebased, autonomous, and collaborative practice. RMUoHP is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the US Department of Education. The entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (edpt) program has been granted Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association. 7 DPT Program Admission Requirements Prerequisite Courses (Cumulative 3.0 GPA is required for prerequisite courses. Grades below C will not The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions is a traditional, campus-based program consisting of eight semesters. Students will develop knowledge and skills necessary to excel as a physical therapist, with instruction and training from professors who are experts in their specialties. Learning experiences will include classroom, laboratory and off-site clinical education. There are a total of 133 credit hours required for successful completion of the program, including the credits earned for the 51 weeks of clinical education. By design, the DPT program relies on the progressive clinical and academic model demonstrated in current University programs. The DPT program incorporates technological and clinical advances as well as contemporary educational theory. Critical inquiry and evidence-based practice principles are threaded throughout the coursework. RMUoHP, acknowledged for its excellence in faculty and educational programming, recognizes that even with the best technology and curriculum the heart and soul of the program are the students. The DPT program caters to highly motivated students who wish to be active participants in their education. RMUoHP s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program participates in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Applicants applying to the DPT program will apply online using the PTCAS application. Applicants can begin their PTCAS application at In addition to PTCAS, applicants will need to complete other supplemental forms and requirements found directly on Minimum Requirements Completion of Bachelor s degree prior to the program start date. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA for prerequisite courses. Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical GRE scores. (Must be taken within 5 years of application.) 100 volunteer hours or work experience with licenses physical therapist (2 different settings is highly recommended.) US Resident In addition to these requirements, the following must be submitted directly to the University: Bachelor s Degree Completion Plan (if not yet graduated) Prerequisite Evaluation Chart DPT Program Disclosure Official GRE Scores $50 Supplemental Application Fee be accepted.) Two courses in general chemistry with labs (8 semester hours including labs) for science majors. Two courses in general physics with labs (8 semester hours including labs) for science majors. One course in biology (3 semester hours). One course in human anatomy with a lab (3 semester hours including lab).* One course in physiology with lab (4 semester hours including labs).* One course in statistics (3 semester hours). Six semester hours in the behavioral sciences. Life span development is preferred. *A two semester anatomy and physiology combination course, with lab, may be used to fulfill the human anatomy and physiology requirement (7 semester hours including labs.)
