1 Dear Business Owner: Thank you for your interest in the Topeka/Shawnee County Small Business Incentive Program. GO Topeka is dedicated to growing Shawnee County s small business community. We look forward to working with you and connecting you with services and information that will help sustain your business. GO Topeka will be offering three incentives for small business. See attachment for detailed incentive overview. 1. Small Business Employee Training Grant: This incentive is available for small businesses to enhance employee skill set. Funds can be used specifically for training, skills upgrade or certification. This incentive will cover up to $750 per employee (limit of two employees per company). 2. Small Business Equipment Purchase Reimbursement: This incentive is for independent business owners (non franchisees) with 50 employees or less. Reimbursement funds are available for new and existing small businesses in the area of retail and light manufacturing. Matching funds up to $5,000 can be used towards the purchase/long term lease of new or used equipment critical to the day to day operations of the small business. 3. Matching Small Business Construction and Renovation Reimbursement: This incentive can be used towards the enhancement of an existing property or towards the construction of a new property. Matching funds up to $5,000 can be used towards new construction or the renovation of an existing property. As a first step, please complete the eligibility form and return by to MAnderson@gotopeka.com. or hand deliver to: GO Topeka/EMBD, Glenda Washington, 120 SE Sixth Avenue, Ste. 110, Topeka, KS Upon receipt, the eligibility form will be reviewed and verified for eligibility confirmation. If eligibility is confirmed, the next step is to complete the attached application and include the following support documentation: 1. Copy of current City or State Licenses (if applicable). 2. Copy of the most recent tax returns (business or personal). 3. Copy of the last 12 months financial statements. 4. Copy of employee training registration. (If applicable) 5. Copies of invoices that will be submitted for the Reimbursement Incentive Grant. 6. Complete reimbursable receipt form. 7. Copy of your State Issued Identification (Drivers License or State I.D. Card) 8. Copy of property lease agreement (if start-up).

2 9. Copy of construction project design for the Construction and Renovation Reimbursement Incentive Grant. 10. Copy of completed application. After all required information is received, the application will be processed. If the application is missing documentation or the business is not eligible for the program, the business will be notified. If eligible, the business will be contacted as to when they can expect a reimbursement. Applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Businesses must submit the application and receive approval prior to making an equipment purchase. If the funds for this program are depleted businesses will be notified prior to completing the required documentation. Funding is not transferable. 6 Incentives for Small Business Purpose: To serve as a catalyst for growth by providing incentives for small business growth and expansion. Small Business Employee Training Qualifications: Available to small businesses to enhance employee skill set. Funds can be used specifically for training, skills upgrade or certification. Funds cannot be used for transportation, hotel stay or meals. This incentive is for independent business owners (non franchisees). The company must be a small business. The incentive is limited to two employees per company. The Company will need to complete the application process prior to training and provide follow up reports after training is completed. Amount: Up to $750 per employee (limit of two employees per company) Small Business Equipment Purchase Reimbursement Qualifications: This incentive is for independent business owners (non franchisees) with 50 employees or less. Reimbursement funds are available for new and existing small businesses in the area of retail and light manufacturing. The primary function of the business must fall within the following NAICS codes (23, 31, 32, 33, 44, 45, 54, 7111, 72, 811, 812). Matching funds of up to $5000 can be used towards the purchase of new or used equipment critical to the day-to-day operations of the small business. Once approved the company will need to complete the application process and receive approval prior to purchase. The company will need to provide a copy of the invoice(s) and a copy of the receipt(s) for the purchase within 30 days of purchase. The company will also need to provide a follow up report explaining how the equipment aided in growing the business. Amount: Up to $5,000 in matching funds towards the purchase of equipment. Matching Small Business Construction and Renovation Qualifications: This incentive is for independent small businesses (non franchisees) with 50 employees or less. This reimbursable incentive can be used towards the enhancement of an existing property or towards the construction of a new property. This incentive will match up to $5,000 of the owner s dollar investment. Invoices, receipts, plans and additional information regarding the renovation or construction will be required. Amount: Matching reimbursement up to $5,000 towards new construction or renovation of existing property. Please note the following: A site visit will be conducted by a representative of GO Topeka. All applicants must own and operate their business in Shawnee County. A follow up report will be required by incentive recipients. Each incentive is limited to one time per company.
